Mesugaki Tank Enters The Academy-Chapter 666: Jundong (2)
The Apostle of Authority, Zarax, stood at the top of a hill covered in a blanket of snow, gazing down below.
The black pit, a precursor to the appearance of a large dungeon, was so deep that its end was impossible to discern.
Hadn't the Apostle of the God of War jumped in there to defeat the enemy before the dungeon was completed?
Such courage. Anyone who saw that scene would surely tremble in fear.
"How’s the situation?"
His close friend, Kyle, appeared, making soft steps in the snow.
"For now, it’s just as we were informed through the crystal ball."
"I hope there are no surprises."
"It’s what the Apostle of the God of War said. We just need to trust and wait."
The plans made by the Apostle of the God of War had resulted in remarkable successes so far.
Monsters that ravaged the land during the mythological era had been completely eradicated, leaving no meaningful trace behind.
Seeing that Erginus constantly praises him with the words "You should have been our leader," there’s no doubt about the wisdom of that person.
Though it wasn’t without sacrifices. Dealing with the remnants of the mythological era wasn’t an easy task.
However, no one disagreed that this was the best course of action.
No one, no one at all, could create a more perfect plan than the Apostle of the God of War.
How could they?
How could anyone compare to the wisdom of that person, who returns after seeing countless possible futures and picks the best path?
"It feels ominous that the Apostle has sent his friend here."
"...That’s true."
Currently, Frey Kent, Lucy’s friend, was waiting with the combat team.
The girl, a leading candidate for the next Swordmaster, who had caught the interest of the God of Martial Arts, sat in the corner, quietly holding her sword’s hilt, not speaking to anyone.
"But what can we do? If the Apostle has a plan, we should just do our best from our position."
"Hmm, you’re unusually diligent today."
"Shut up. Anyway, how are the others?"
"They’re doing quite well. The front-line team is full of energy due to their various blessings, and those left behind to deal with the monsters also have a fierce determination in their eyes."
They weren’t just fighting monsters.
They were partaking in a great endeavor to save the world.
Every man dreams of becoming a hero; how could they possibly show cowardice now?
What’s more, the reason they pushed forward was that their names, which should have been forgotten, were remembered by someone.
The Apostle of the God of War may appear cold on the outside, but he is a delicate and kind person.
That’s why even the smallest losses aren’t overlooked; he remembers the names of the dead and prays to the heavens for them.
If I had known it would be like this, I’d jokingly say I should have died in place of that guy.
Watching his actions, it’s hard to believe that such a person lived as the enemy of the world.
Even the brightest leaves are still just people.
The scorn and criticism from others must have been painful, yet he endured everything and stood here.
Zarax himself would’ve definitely had prejudices if he hadn’t seen Lucy’s will in the arena, or hadn’t heard about the curse before the meeting between the Apostles.
"He’s finally getting the recognition he deserves."
"The Apostle of the God of War? Haha, he hates being adored, though."
"That’s probably better. It’s easier to endure criticism indifferently than to be praised."
"...Just to check, is that really your taste?"
"Should I kill you?"
Zarax cursed silently with his eyes, and Kyle shrugged his hands.
"Just a joke."
"If you keep spouting nonsense, I’ll break something."
"Ha, what a scary threat."
The two of them exchanged lighthearted jokes, trying to ease the tension, when suddenly, a sinister aura came from behind them.
The presence of something that should not exist in this world. It was someone related to the evil gods.
"This is where people are, right?!"
"Dammit. Were we too careless?!"
The two of them hurriedly ran toward the sound of the screams, their pace quickening.
When they arrived at the gathering place, they didn’t find their comrades dead.
They weren’t barely holding on either.
Nor were they warriors pushing forward, forcing the enemies back.
One person. Only one person. A girl, not even an adult yet, was standing before them, and all the enemies were being sliced down.
"Is this all you got?"
Frey Kent waved her sword at the bodies scattered on the ground.
At least one of them had a limb severed, and several others had mortal wounds, but the attackers calmly stood up, as if it were nothing.
Those who didn’t know death. Beings that had lost their end.
The power of the evil god Agras.
"So, what about you? Little girl."
"How long can you hold out?"
"Should you be doing something like this?"
"Grr... ack... ugh."
"Ha. This idiot..."
"Answer me. Is this really all you’ve got?"
At Frey’s provocation, the man in front charged.
Though forgotten now, the man was once called a hero.
He was also the protagonist of a fairy tale that was still told.
The knight, who had fought for a country until the very end and lost everything, swung his sword to erase his end.
"Pathetic."
But the sword of the forgotten hero broke easily before the genius.
The sword was split in half, and the hero’s head flew into the air.
That was the end.
The hero, who had forgotten the concept of death, met his end.
"Is there nothing else to show?"
No response came.
"Then, you die too."
"Shit. Attack! Now!"
When the minions of the evil gods charged, Zarax and Kyle finally snapped to their senses and moved to assist Frey.
The battle was extremely one-sided.
Frey was not just an irregular presence.
She had overcome death from the start, and when fighting those who feared death and those who had already resigned themselves to it, the outcome was clear.
And so, after a fight with no casualties, Zarax and the others tried to thank Frey, but she quietly returned to the corner without even offering a response.
"Are you embarrassed?"
Thinking she might be unaccustomed to praise, Kyle approached her, but when Frey slightly drew her sword, he flinched and stepped back.
"Don’t bother me, you worthless trash."
Anyone who tried to approach Frey after that sharp remark gave up.
Ignoring Frey, they continued to prepare to tackle the large dungeon, when Zarax and Kyle felt a ripple of magic above them.
They braced themselves for the worst, but froze when they saw who had appeared right above them.
"Kyaaah!"
"Idiot’s incurable disease."
Landing swiftly, Lucy waved her arms in the air and caught Joy with ease.
"Heavy. Did you put on some weight?"

"I didn’t! I’ve barely had time to eat properly due to all the magical research!"
"That’s strange. Then why do you feel heavier? Everything else seems the same."
"I didn’t get heavier!"
Struggling, Joy wriggled out of Lucy’s arms and, feeling the intense gaze on her, quickly pulled out her fan.
With a swift motion, she opened the fan, revealing her heated ears.
"Luucyyy!"
Frey dashed toward Lucy with all her might. But it wasn’t a friendly greeting; it was like a moving projectile.
Lucy blinked in surprise and hastily summoned divine power.
"I defeated them all! Well done, right?"
With a dull thud, Lucy caught Frey and was about to say something when she saw Frey looking like a dog wanting praise. With a sigh, she pinched her cheek.
"Ugh... ughhh."
Even as Frey’s cheek stretched like rubber, a smile remained on her face.
Those who had witnessed Frey’s brutal appearance and cold demeanor were taken aback by her youthful, innocent expression.
Is this the same person who didn’t see people as people?
Confirming the bodies of the enemies lying around, Zarax suppressed his rising disgust and steeled himself.
He thought it was about time the Pope would start to get anxious.
That’s why it was a good decision to send Frey ahead.
Had it not been for her, who could cut through the powers granted to others, there would have been significant sacrifices.
Thinking about it now, Frey really is an unusual one.
She reached such heights because she couldn’t stand being manipulated by the Pope. Truly, a genius is a genius.
Now Arthur doesn’t even compare.
Poor Arthur. He can’t even play with the girl he’s interested in anymore.
Thinking about him having to take insults from both sides, I can’t feel any sympathy...
In fact, the thought of him ranting just makes me laugh.
Once this is over, maybe I’ll swing by the capital.
"Apostle of the God of War."
Oh, right. This is the guy who kicked me in the groin last time.
Why is he pretending to be polite now, after all that?
Could it be that he realized some hidden tastes after that kick?
"What brings you here?"
Just as I was about to curse at him, Joy stepped forward and interrupted me.
"From now on, the Apostle of the God of War will be tackling the dungeon. Please take care of the monsters that will spill out from the dungeon."
Joy. If you speak so politely, complaints are bound to come out.
You should at least tell them to get lost for being so pathetic.
"I understand. I will do my best to fulfill my role."
Aren’t you going to complain?
Why not?
You were ignored!
At least you should express some frustration!
Even if you respect me, at least insist on going along with me!
Why are you giving up so easily?
Damn you!
Ahh, I’m really pissed off.
After this is over, I’m going to make sure to get some insults out of those bastards.
I will, for sure.
