Rasha didn’t particularly like Lucy Allen, but as a warrior, she thought Lucy was quite a capable person.

Not only did she relentlessly hone her skills, but she also understood the importance of the body and tirelessly engaged in arduous training. Even when faced with a seemingly hopeless situation, she always did her best to find a way out, and she had the heart to take risks to win, even if it meant her life was on the line.

There was no need to speak about her talent in martial arts. She was the daughter of Benedict Allen, and even the gods had recognized her. What more could be said?

Perhaps that’s why Rasha often found herself thinking, whenever she saw Lucy Allen, how much better it would have been if only she had a few more years to grow.

Even now, Lucy was an attractive and strong individual, but in a few years, when she had fully matured, she might even be on par with Benedict.

Despite her mind wavering, Rasha’s trembling hand managed to gather strength and hold her weapon. Even though she knew she would likely lose, she taunted Lucy to challenge her once more.

She would face the inevitable defeat, but that didn’t stop her from going after Lucy.

She had no intention of following the rules or respecting common sense. Instead, she would grow stronger and soon stand beside Lucy, perhaps even surpassing her in time.

But Rasha knew she wouldn’t be around to see that. Whether Lucy or she herself perished, one of them would die in the end.

Well, in that case, it would be better for her to die. It would be less frustrating to see the one who crushed her rise to the top than to survive and feel the emptiness of it all.

...Wait, am I really into that?

She had thought it was just the ambition of a warrior, but maybe it was more than that.

No. That can’t be it. After all, the countless opponents she had crushed, all of them, she couldn’t possibly wish for defeat deep down.

“Filthy bugs.”

As Rasha contemplated, Lucy, who had staggered to her feet, summoned her fairies to her side.

At this point, even if they moved, it wouldn’t matter. If this were a forest, it might be a bit troublesome, but it wasn’t, so what use were they now?

Despite considering it a meaningless action, Rasha waited patiently for Lucy to make her move. When Lucy raised her shield, Rasha mockingly tried to dissuade her.

However, Lucy didn’t retreat. Instead, she taunted Rasha, trying to provoke her into charging.

Rasha, who had let out her frustration by knocking Lucy down, deliberately went along with Lucy, even though she knew the younger warrior was just playing her part.

When Rasha swung her fist, Lucy was knocked back without any major difference from before.

"I don’t know what you’ve prepared, but things aren’t going to change right away."

This brat’s shortcomings couldn’t be fixed immediately.

It was a lack of experience.

Lucy Allen’s physical and technical abilities had already reached a certain level.

If she could only face situations that were planned or predetermined, she might be able to fight on equal footing with me.

But who would be foolish enough to fight only the way their opponent wanted?

Naturally, I would find out what their least favorite approach was and focus on exploiting that.

To counter this, there’s no way around it. Experience is the only way.

No matter what situation comes her way, Lucy needs to instinctively reach a level where she can find the best answer in any situation.

Lucy Allen had yet to reach that level.

She was trying to catch up, but that momentary delay could be fatal in a battle between strong opponents.

See? It’s the same now.

She’s too slow.

“If you’re just going to keep charging in recklessly, I’ll leave. I’m not in the mood to entertain a boring opponent.”

"Did you enjoy crawling beneath me so much?♡ You’re so eager~♡"

"Ha. Seriously."

I need to shut that mouth up.

Anyway, as long as I don’t die, it’s fine.

Rasha rushed forward, and with a swift movement, reached Lucy and extended her palm toward her exposed face.

The brat’s reaction speed had already been calculated. She wouldn’t be able to respond to this.

Hah. Finally, I can get rid of this damn kid.

Wait...?

Lucy’s shield blocked Rasha’s hand.

Although it didn’t completely absorb the shock, Lucy’s body was sent skidding across the ground, but the fact that she had blocked the attack remained unchanged.

Did I miscalculate?

That shouldn’t be possible...

The speed of the attack just now was something Lucy couldn’t possibly have reacted to.

“That was a sloppy attack~♡ You’re so slow~♡”

Staggering back to her feet, Lucy taunted Rasha again.

With her confident expression, it didn’t seem like this was a fluke.

Should I test it out?

At the same speed as before, Rasha charged, and Lucy’s eyes locked onto her target.

It was clear now. Lucy was adapting to the impossible.

Once again, Rasha sent Lucy flying, but when she glanced at the fairies around her, she furrowed her brow.

What did she do? There didn’t seem to be any significant change on the surface.

There seemed to be some connection between them, but that couldn’t be a meaningful factor.

“Did you enjoy playing around until now?♡”

"Hmm. Sure. I guess we’ll find out as we go."

Rasha began to increase her speed gradually.

She continued her assault to see how much further Lucy could keep up.

It was strange. Even though the speed she was using should have overwhelmed Lucy, forcing her to collapse soon enough, Lucy responded to the impossible.

It was as if she had suddenly gained experience that hadn’t existed before.

Each time, Rasha’s doubts grew.

She hadn’t been hiding her power.

This brat had truly been helpless up until now.

What did those fairies do to change her so drastically?

What kind of magic did they use to cause such a change?

Taaang!

A crisp sound reached Rasha’s ears.

Her hand, which hadn’t dealt much of a shock, shot up into the air.

Lucy’s face, full of laughter.

The mace she tightly gripped.

Rasha instinctively knew she couldn’t avoid her next attack.

Lucy’s mace hit her side, and Rasha smiled through the pain that shot through her bones.

“Are you really a masochist?♡ You look so pleased♡”

“Ha ha ha! Maybe I am!”

Rasha answered her with a hearty voice, then grabbed Lucy by the neck and tossed her away.

“I’m done thinking about this! Let’s really play now! Apostle of the Gods!”

Lucy’s eyes, even after crashing into the wall, remained intense.

Rasha loved that look in her eyes.

The ancient tree they found, guided by the old man, seemed surprisingly humble for something that had lived for so many years.

It looked as though it would crumble at the slightest gust of wind, and it seemed as if it had reached the end of its life.

"It used to be called the World Tree of Humans. But now, it's all meaningless."

The old man said as he cautiously reached out toward the tree.

When his hand touched it, the branches swayed, and a few remaining leaves fell.

“It’s been a long time, but it doesn’t seem like there’s time to rejoice in this reunion. You, who have lived for such a long time. I have something to ask you.”

He asked the tree about the Apostle of the Evil God.

The old tree gave no response.

Erginus bit his lip and watched.

Not here either?

Damn it. Was it really Lucy Allen who sent this tree?

We might be playing right into their hands.

Just as Erginus was about to approach the old man to offer his thanks, the tree suddenly began to shake violently.

It seemed as if it was about to burn out its last life force, and the violent shaking was enough to convey its emotions to those who couldn’t hear the tree’s story.

The old man, standing at the front, finally turned his head after the shaking stopped.

“What is it trying to tell us?”

“The Apostle of the Evil God. The one you call the Pope, swore an oath here.”

The tree had forgotten the fact.

It had to forget because remembering wasn’t allowed.

But for some reason, it had recalled that memory after so long.

The man who, burdened with many deaths, had shouted like a madman in front of it.

“...What was that about?”

Erginus carefully asked, and the old man paused, pressing his bowler hat down.

“The Apostle of the Evil God truly worships the gods. He believes that the great gods are omniscient and omnipotent. That’s why he wondered why the gods had suffered at the hands of Agras.”

“Such nonsense. The gods are great, but not omniscient or omnipotent. Even so, they strive for the good of this world, and that is what makes them noble!”

“Yes, I think so too. But the Apostle of the Evil God didn’t think so. He posed many hypotheses to explain the suffering of the gods, and in the end, he concluded that the gods’ struggles were due to the burdensome beings around them.”

“By burdensome beings, you mean?”

“The many divine beings who accompanied the great gods.”

Erginus couldn’t understand the old man’s words.

It was thanks to those divine beings that good and evil could have such a back-and-forth.

No matter how great the gods were, if they were alone, they wouldn’t have been able to stop all the forces arrayed against them.

“Wait a minute.”

A panicked voice from Joy interrupted the conversation.

“If what the tree said is true, then isn’t it the case that the Evil Gods and Good Gods shouldn’t exist in this world according to the Pope?”

The old man, who was caught off guard, had no chance to respond as Lina, the wizard of the mythical age, spoke.

“Unless you’re the great god.”

“Now that’s just insane.”

No one could deny the words of the great wizard who had lived through the age of myths.

Rasha poked at the collapsed Lucy Allen, sighing deeply.

She thought she could finally enjoy herself, but the brat fainted. She had been clearly pushing herself, but just a little more would’ve sufficed.

Dead!Don’t bully Lucy!Bad girl!

“I never bullied her! The fight was from her side, and even before that, I was the one being bullied!”

I don’t know about that!I’ll get you back!I’ll make you pay later!

What nonsense.

Rasha shook her head as the fairies that had been pestering her fluttered around. She moved toward Lucy.

“Did you think the Apostle of the Evil God was strong?”

The Pope responded with a puzzled voice.

“Old man, you need to make some noise while you walk. You almost killed me.”

“Don’t worry. You can’t do that. But will you answer the question?”

Without hesitation, Rasha answered with joy in her voice.

“Strong. Not just in power. The person themselves is strong. I can see why they were chosen by their master.”

Rasha smiled at the Pope’s words and then placed a hand on Lucy’s head.

In an instant, all the wounds on Lucy’s body vanished.

“If this person were here, would they kill me?”

“If this brat isn’t here, who would bother with an old man like you?”

“Haha. Sounds good. I like it.”

With the healing complete, the Pope carefully picked up Lucy and handed her to Rasha.

“There’s only one god in this world, after all.”
