Merchant From Earth in the Magical World-Chapter 547 - 383: Heart of a God_1
Cloud Tower Elders' Council.
With three Divine Faction elders still absent, the Elementalist Elders sat around the conference table.
The Presiding Elder asked, "The final battle with the Alchemists of Thunderous Swamp is fast approaching... Elder Elwin, have there been any changes in the Eternal Domain? Have you discovered a large presence of alchemists from the Thunder Alliance Swamp there?"
Elder Elwin was responsible for negotiating the battle rules with the Eternal Domain and had made several trips there during the preparation period.
In response to the Presiding Elder's inquiry, Elwin replied, "The Eternal Domain has invited a host of heroes from the Kingdom of Silvermane and the Snow Elves to partake in this ultimate showdown, all of whom are now training at Riftfort. No alchemists resembling those from Thunderous Swamp have been found."
The Alchemists of Thunderous Swamp are still in hiding, which is not good news for Cloud Tower, poised for a do-or-die battle.
What is Yan Xing up to?
Following the mutually agreed upon rules... according to traditional warfare, to fight a battle of honor.
Without calling upon the alchemists from Thunderous Swamp, the Eternal Domain simply lacks the strength to confront Cloud Tower in battle.
What Cloud Tower truly fears is the covert group of alchemists from Thunderous Swamp, not an Eternal Domain that's put forward as a facade.
"Could it be that they aim to strike at the tower while we are engaged in the final battle away from Cloud Tower?"
One elder shared his analysis.
Another elder spoke up, "The tower exists in an independent space; without the assistance of an inside mage to fix the spatial coordinates, it's impossible for outsiders to enter. Moreover, there are numerous defensive alchemical magics here. I actually hope that Thunderous Swamp does attack the tower, so we can seal off the space and trap them here. What concerns me is... Thunderous Swamp laying an ambush on us at the Century Battlefield."
Elwin said, "The Battle of the Century stipulates that each side may only send twenty thousand to fight. Regardless of the outcome, no additional forces are permitted. Yan Xing has built over forty large floating platforms above the Century Battlefield, and plans to live-stream the decisive fight in Frostleaf City, Storm City, Nuta City, and the Eternal Domain. If he breaks the rule, his long-accumulated trust will be wiped out. Without credibility, how can he rule the world?"
Talking about the large floating platforms that Yan Xing had constructed above the Century Battlefield, many elders were still puzzled.
In building the platforms, Cloud Tower sent mages to monitor throughout, yet found no covert alchemical weapons or magic from the Eternal Domain.
So... What could be Yan Xing's purpose for expending so much effort and resources on the construction of such numerous large floating platforms? Could it be mere arrogance, a belief in guaranteed victory, and a grand declaration to humiliate Cloud Tower before the heroes of the world?
Incomprehensible.
All the elders were baffled.
Finally, the Presiding Elder stood up.
His body, transformed by water elements, was nearly transparent.
"Yan Xing's purpose in constructing the floating platforms is unclear, but since we've discovered nothing so far, let's not dwell on it anymore. Before absolute power, all schemes are fruitless. If we are to win, we shall surely triumph. If defeat is our destiny... then perhaps it is just that. We have sequestered ourselves within the tower for centuries, seeking the secrets of eternal life. We have no desire to start conflicts, but Thunderous Swamp has ignited this long-premeditated war to replace us. This battle is for the honor of the tower, for the beliefs we've always upheld. I believe the gods will be on our side, victory belongs to Cloud Tower!"
"Victory belongs to Cloud Tower!"
The elders echoed in unison.
The Presiding Elder declared, "Activate the teleportation array, all Tower Mages set to participate in battle, teleport to Highland City!"
On the exterior of Cloud Tower, dozens of large teleportation gates opened up.
Swarms of Tower Mages took flight from different locations, passing through these gates and reappearing in the skies above the highlands.
At that moment, the Great Army was assembled within Highland City.
The sky brimmed with Floating Warships and airborne vessels.
One hundred fifty thousand Orcs and allied Human forces, armed with traditional weapons and donned in battle armor, were deployed outside the city.
Though they would not join the Battle of the Century, they would head to the field of the final battle to cheer for the heroes of their own side.
As the Tower Mages passed through the teleportation gates to reach Highland City, the Orcs beat the war drums mounted on the backs of colossal beasts.
The ground forces and the air contingents advanced together towards the Century Battlefield.
While the Elementalist Mages from Cloud Tower were on their way to the Century Battlefield, inside the Divine Faction laboratory of Cloud Tower...
Three Divine Faction elders excitedly surrounded an illuminated humanoid figure.
"Have we succeeded?"
"Not yet, but we are very, very close to it."
"So close it seems almost within reach."
"Foolish Elementalist Mages, they actually lead all the Tower Mages into a naïve showdown with the enemy."
"What's pathetic is they never asked us for input from the beginning. If they had, they would know we're on the verge of gaining the power to turn them and their enemy to ash with a wave of the hand."
"Master Raphael, what should our next step be? How do we extract the Divine Authority Key from the experimental crucible?"
"Yes... Master Raphael, you never told us how to remove the Divine Authority Key. We could understand your secrecy before, but now you should fulfill your promise and tell us."
As the two elders spoke, Master Raphael, dressed in a red magic robe and hunched over, remained silent, gazing at the experimental crucible before him.
