Merchant From Earth in the Magical World-Chapter 523 - 371: The Products Brought by Yan Xing_2
"You Undead, it can be said, live atop an enormous mountain of gold. These resources will grant you a very important position in the future world.
"The folder in front of you contains Eternal Domain’s long-term development plans for the Land of Corruption.
"All of you will have advanced cities and enjoyable lives."
Weak Touch finally opened the folder.
Inside were some images of futuristic Undead cities and text descriptions for them.
The Undead cities were divided into above-ground and underground sections.
The above-ground area consisted of functional and industrial zones, while the underground was residential.
Each room was an alchemical tomb chamber, including a garage, living room, and bedroom.
In the bedroom, there was a coffin lined with soft blankets.
There were televisions and telephones.
Lying in the coffin, one could follow world events and chat with friends.
Under the city were tunnels and subways; the surface had roads, overpasses, airplanes, and airships.
In short, the city blueprint was extremely advanced. It would be considered science fiction even in the real world.
But that didn’t stop Yan Xing from showing it to the Undead, telling them this was the city he would build for them.
However, the Undead weren’t buying into these fancy proposals. They didn’t even know what the items in the pictures were—how could they possibly desire them?
The response from the Undead Lords was very indifferent.
Weak Touch said, "I don’t think our current way of life as Undead needs such a drastic change. These... things of yours, whatever they are, don’t pique our interest.
"We also don’t welcome living beings to come to the Land of Corruption to extract resources."
The Undead Lords’ reaction was within Yan Xing’s expectations.
The document was just a pie-in-the-sky promise he had shown them, meant to make them believe Eternal Domain had the capacity to build such cities.
As for demand... it would have to be cultivated bit by bit. Sooner or later, they would fall head over heels for these city blueprints, begging me, their Lord, to build it for them.
To take the first step in trading with the Undead, he had to start with their essential needs.
Did the Undead truly have no needs? Of course not...
Yan Xing was fully prepared.
"Allow me to present the first product I’ve brought to the Land of Corruption."
Yan Xing waved his hand behind him.
Three Golden Armored Attendants stepped forward.
Then, the two Golden Armored Attendants on the sides began to remove the full-body armor from the one in the middle.
As the armor was halfway removed, the Undead Lords grew restless.
When all the armor was off, the Undead Lords could no longer hide their emotions.
Weak Touch, his voice laced with anger, questioned Yan Xing, "What is this thing? It most certainly isn’t an Undead!"
The Golden Armored Guard standing behind Yan Xing was revealed after his full-body armor was removed.
A skeleton.
The most basic unit of the Undead, and their most numerous branch.
But the Undead Lords could sense that although this skeleton looked no different from an Undead skeleton, it lacked the distinct aura of death characteristic of the Undead. Instead, it was cold, as if it were a lifeless object.
Yet it could move freely. Before its armor was removed, the Undead Lords had thought it was a human.
Yan Xing did not respond to Weak Touch’s questioning but said to his subordinates, "Continue."
The two Golden Armored Guards approached the "skeleton," began disassembling every bone in its body, and then laid them on the conference table.
Throughout this process, the "skeleton" did not resist, allowing its companions to dismantle it until only its skull remained.
"Continue."
Yan Xing gave the command again.
The two Golden Armored Guards picked up the bones from the table and began to reassemble them, finally placing the skull on top of the skeletal frame.
Yan Xing nodded in satisfaction and said, "Continue."
Four more Golden Armored Attendants stepped out from the ranks. Together, they started to remove the armor from the first two Golden Armored Guards.
Soon, two more skeletons were revealed before the Undead Lords.
The three skeletons stood side by side, motionless, as if awaiting Yan Xing’s command.
Yan Xing said again, "Continue."
This time, the three skeletons began to work together, taking bones from each other and attaching them to their own bodies.
In a short while, the three skeletons had exchanged all the bones in their bodies except for their heads.
Yet their movement was not affected in the slightest.
Without a word, Yan Xing waved his hand, and the Golden Armored Guards helped the skeletons put their full armor back on.
As if nothing had happened, the skeletons returned to their ranks and stood ramrod straight.
After the demonstration, Yan Xing addressed the Undead Lords. "We all know that the Undead have existed for a very long time. Aside from low-intelligence Undead who wander endlessly, intelligent ones often choose to lie in their tombs for long periods without moving.
"This is partly because the Undead have few needs, but mainly because most Undead skeletons lack the ability to regenerate, making them prone to wear and tear, and damage from calcium loss.
"And since Undead wandered before gaining sentience, their bones usually have some issues by the time they awaken."
What Yan Xing described were the findings of the Heart Demon Squad’s investigation in the Land of Corruption.
Undead, especially skeletal Undead, preferred not to move much once they gained intelligence, precisely because they wanted to preserve their bones.
It should be understood that without flesh, bones lack lubrication, regeneration, and repair functions. If one piece is damaged, it’s one piece lost.
Even if some bones could be replaced, they were ultimately inconvenient to use if they weren’t the original fit.
The skeletal Undead Lords sitting there could deeply relate to these conditions.
Their long existence, even with magical protection, meant their bones bore all sorts of imperfections, like missing edges and corners.
One of the skeletal Undead Lords couldn’t help but ask, "What does this have to do with what you’ve demonstrated?"
"Of course, there’s a connection," Yan Xing said with a smile. "As you have all seen, what I’ve just shown are alchemical golems developed and manufactured by the Eternal Domain, imitating Undead skeletons.
"Each bone in their bodies is composed of the same material as genuine bone. They can also be freely dismantled and reassembled without affecting their function in their respective locations.
"This technology of the Eternal Domain is very mature and has been tested on some Undead who volunteered for the experiments. Our artificial skeletons can perfectly integrate with the bodies of skeletal Undead without any rejection.
"The Eternal Domain will now use this technology to establish friendly relations with the Land of Corruption.
"I plan to open a series of bone maintenance and repair hospitals in the Land of Corruption. We will provide healthy bones with absorbable calcium, apply coatings to their outer layers to prevent wear and calcium loss, repair damaged bones, and replace irreparable bones with artificial ones.
"Our artificial bones can be meticulously manufactured and fitted according to the specific size and dimensions of each skeleton, ensuring that replacements are indistinguishable from the originals.
"Additionally, we can offer bone beautification services, such as carving and custom attachments, and other value-added medical services.
"Alchemical enhancement is also among the services we offer..."
The Undead Lords were spellbound.
Could bones really offer such a variety of possibilities? But upon closer consideration... If what Lord Yan Xing said was true, it would indeed be a blessing for the vast number of skeletons in the Land of Corruption. Think of how many skeletons were enduring the long-term pain of femoral head wear! How many gazed at their missing ribs, reminiscing about their once neat arrangement? How many watched helplessly as their once smooth leg bones gradually became pitted and uneven? So many skeletons had broken limbs; so many were paralyzed! It wasn’t that skeletons enjoyed lying still in their tombs; it was because that was the only way to minimize damage to their bones. But the calcium within their bones would inevitably be lost, bit by bit, and one day, the bones would break on their own. And now... the Eternal Domain had the technology to help skeletons with calcium supplementation, repair their damaged bones, and even replace them entirely! This was their salvation, a savior to all skeletons, like a benevolent father! The skeletons were about to welcome their own spring!
The skeletal Undead Lords were excited.
Now, they even felt like stripping off their robes and shouting at Yan Xing, "Give me the works! I want a full replacement!"
The atmosphere in the hall suddenly reached a climax.
