Mercenary's War-Chapter 2099 - 2076: Life Is Unpredictable
Such is the unpredictability of life.
Gao Yang would never have dreamed that one day he and Krulney would end up in their current relationship.
The past Krulney, now Jim, the greatest mistake he made in his life was not killing Satan directly during the conspiracy in Syria. He didn’t take Satan seriously enough, giving Satan a chance to catch a breath, and thus Tomler died, Krulney was gone.
Acquiring Jim was really a tremendous gain for Gao Yang. Because from the perspective of a mercenary broker, even Little Donnie couldn’t keep up with Jim; to be precise, couldn’t compare to Jim’s predecessor, Krulney.
In other words, no one understands the mercenary circle and profession better than Jim. After Tomler’s death, Jim could have undoubtedly become a major player among mercenary brokers, even if he wasn’t as prominent as Tomler, he could still be a figurehead amongst the brokers. It’s just unfortunate he encountered Gao Yang, and you have to admit, that’s fate.
A gentleman can be deceived with integrity. Krulney wasn’t truly unlucky to encounter Gao Yang; meeting the Black Demon was when Krulney suffered for generations. As cunning as a demon, but upon running into Yarebin, the King of Devils, meeting his nemesis, he truly experienced what being worse than death meant, resulting in Krulney turning into the Jim of today.
Therefore, Gao Yang could use Jim like a slave without spending a dime, extracting the last bit of remaining value from him, until Jim is squeezed into something meaningful, and it wouldn’t be wrong because the Black Demon’s approach is ruthless enough.
Considering Jim’s ability, experience, and reputation in the underworld, offering him a million-dollar salary for Gao Yang was a huge bargain. So even though Gao Yang could treat Jim like a slave, he’d rather treat him as an employee working for him, paying him a salary because Jim is a high-end talent after all. Treating him purely like a slave would be a waste.
With a gentle sigh, Gao Yang shook his head, lightly chuckling before softly saying, "Great, what I need is exactly your talent. This is your specialty, so I won’t say more. Now let’s talk about something else, tell me about Hydra, I’ve always been very curious about him."
Jim spoke in a deep voice, "Hydra, there are too many people interested in him, but there are only a few people in the world who know Hydra’s true identity, and I am one of them."
Gao Yang smiled and said, "You’ve met him."
Jim paused while walking, then intensely rubbed his nose with his hand, softly saying, "Actually, I haven’t met Hydra. Although I’ve always been Mr. Tomler’s most trusted assistant, I’ve never seen Hydra. The only people who could meet Hydra, I guess, would be members of Iron Madonna, and aside from them, Mr. Tomler could be the only one who has ever seen Hydra, considering he was the one who personally handed Iron Madonna to him."
Gao Yang said in a deep voice, "Big Mister hasn’t seen him."
Jim shook his head and said, "Ludwig quit too early, so he certainly hasn’t met Hydra. In fact, I’m not very clear about Mr. Tomler’s relationship with Hydra. I only know that Iron Madonna once suffered a heavy blow, and Mr. Tomler almost gave nothing but a name to Hydra. Yet Hydra brought Iron Madonna back to the ranks of the strongest mercenary group."
Jim repeatedly waved his right hand and then said with a contemplative look, "How should I explain it? Hydra is very suspicious and doesn’t trust anyone, so he’s always hidden himself well. He’s cruel, decisive, and merciless, and can abandon anyone to save himself. In his eyes, there’s only money. If you pay him, he can do anything for you; without money, then there’s no discussion."
After speaking, Jim looked at Gao Yang, then said, "I’ve dealt with a lot of mercenaries. If other mercenaries were like you, then Hydra would be an oddity. But in reality, you are the anomaly among mercenaries, so Hydra is a typical mercenary, but he’s done it to the utmost."
Gao Yang raised his eyebrows and smiled, saying, "Don’t comment on Hydra, tell me something specific. What does he look like? Any characteristics?"
Jim let out a breath and sighed, "It’s really regrettable, but I’ve never seen his face. His meetings with Mr. Tomler were all conducted in secret, so I couldn’t see him, but I’ve heard his voice—I only heard his voice."
Gao Yang frowned and said, "Just hearing a voice isn’t enough to identify him."
"It’s regrettable, but I’ve only heard his voice."
"Well, where would Iron Madonna be? Do they have a fixed base? Or a regular residence, like we do in America, do you know?"
Jim shook his head and said, "No, these are the most confidential secrets of Iron Madonna, just like you wouldn’t reveal your address and real identities in America to anyone."
Gao Yang said in disappointment, "Alright, it seems we can only continue to wait for opportunities. Wanting to take down Iron Madonna isn’t something that can be done overnight."
Jim said in a deep voice, "No, taking down Iron Madonna is relatively simple. I’ve mentioned before that as long as you pay, Hydra and his Iron Madonna can do any task; regarding this, we can easily set up a trap for Iron Madonna. But eliminating Iron Madonna is easy, killing Hydra is difficult. As long as Hydra is alive, he can easily reorganize Iron Madonna. You must understand the recruiting process of Iron Madonna—it’s too easy to find mercenaries who can fight when you have money."
Gao Yang waved his hand and said, "Let’s set aside the matter of Iron Madonna for now. I need a good machine gunner. Do you have suitable candidates to recommend?"
Krulney contemplated just for a moment, then confidently said, "Yes, I know two excellent machine gunners. One is American, an employee of Three-leaf Jungle, and the other is a bounty hunter mainly active in Iraq; the one from Three-leaf Jungle is hard to poach, but the bounty hunter, as long as you offer enough money, can be easily poached to Satan."
After finishing, Jim regrettably said, "But both of these men have some issues; the one from Three-leaf Jungle recognizes both people and money, but he’s been there for a long time, so it’s unlikely he’ll leave for money. As for the bounty hunter, he recognizes money, not people, and can sell his soul for money, but such a person might not meet your standards."
Gao Yang said with a bitter face, "That’s useless to me, what I need is someone reliable for long-term cooperation."
Jim smiled and said, "Actually, you can poach someone when necessary. If they’ve done something extremely confidential, you can then eliminate them to keep your secrets. If that’s the case, it doesn’t matter if the person is reliable or not."
