Mercenary's War-Chapter 2078 - 2055: Fresh Ingredients
How could Gao Yang let it go? Everyone should be responsible for their own decisions, but as the leader of Satan, if Gao Yang thought this way, then he wouldn’t be Gao Yang.
Without responding to Eileen, Gao Yang chuckled, remaining silent while smoking in Ellie’s room.
Eileen didn’t speak either, holding a bottle with some water to conveniently tap Gao Yang’s ashes, lighting a cigarette for herself. One sat on the bed, the other on the edge, looking a bit odd.
After finishing the cigarette, Gao Yang threw the butt into the bottle, reached out, Eileen handed him the pack again, and he lit a second one. After a few consecutive coughs, he stood up and whispered, "Get some rest."
Gao Yang returned to his room, didn’t close the door, lay on the bed, and soon fell into a deep sleep.
No one called Gao Yang when he woke naturally. After waking up, Gao Yang opened his eyes, realized it was already broad daylight, sat up, and immediately reached for the phone to call Uriyangko.
"How are things going on your side?"
"The progress isn’t fast. We’ve found twenty-six oil barrels of the same specifications and turned them into cannons, but we haven’t done any test firing yet. Now we’re planning to go to a deserted area at sea for test firing."
Uriyangko’s voice was hoarse with urgency, but Gao Yang still thought it was too slow. He whispered, "Why so slow!"
"There’s no way around it. No one has experience, we can only fumble through, and we need to make the shells with minimal deviation. Without enough manpower, everything is slow. The most troublesome thing is the inability to test fire on land. Without test firing, how can we proceed?"
Gao Yang thought for a moment and whispered, "Don’t use real fake medicine for test firing, just put in some *******, and replace the shell with something of the same weight for testing."
"No, that won’t work. Leave it to me. I’ve already secured a ship, we’ll test fire at sea soon. By tonight, everything will be ready."
Gao Yang looked at his watch and was astonished it was already eleven o’clock. He didn’t realize he’d slept so long.
"So, is there manpower coming over?"
"Yes!"
After saying a sentence, Uriyangko added dejectedly, "But there are only thirty people. I’ve arranged for them to stay in Cannes. I don’t dare let Russian-speaking people come over, it’s too conspicuous!"
Gao Yang whispered, "Yes, having a large group of Russian speakers come over simultaneously is too conspicuous. If it raises Djo’s suspicions, we won’t be ready. Djo doesn’t know his whereabouts have been exposed. Better to have less manpower than to miss this chance. That’s it. I’ll inform you when there’s news."
Uriyangko whispered, "Do you think he’ll come?"
Gao Yang sighed, "I think he’ll come. It’s just a feeling."
After hanging up the phone, Gao Yang leisurely walked to the surveillance room. Eileen was surveilling the road, Yake had gone to rest, his position was replaced by Li Jinfang, while Taylor was still behind the binoculars.
"Go rest. I’ll take over here."
Taylor didn’t raise his head, softly said, "No need, I just took over."
Gao Yang raised a pair of binoculars and whispered, "How’s it going?"
"At nine in the morning, a car went out with two people, and returned at ten-thirty. The place they got off wasn’t visible, but they seemed to be out shopping."
Gao Yang’s heart skipped a beat and he whispered, "Back to normal life?"
"Don’t know, Number Thirteen hasn’t reported any news. He should be following the two people out, but no news has come back from him."
Number Thirteen enjoys the highest degree of freedom, only he can contact others, and no one can contact him.
Now, not even Gao Yang knows Number Thirteen’s whereabouts.
No news means continuing to monitor. To put it bluntly, surveillance is just waiting in vain.
As the time approached twelve, Gao Yang’s phone rang. After answering, he heard Number Thirteen speaking calmly yet urgently, "A blue small van, watch carefully if it returns to the nest. I can’t follow it, you must watch for any vehicle returning to the nest."
Gao Yang immediately said, "Understood! What’s happening!"
"Explain later."
Number Thirteen immediately hung up the phone. Gao Yang turned around and shouted, "Double watch on the road! A blue small van! Be sure to focus if spotted."
"Understood."
Eileen, watching through binoculars, yelled, "Understood, boss. What’s up with that car?"
"Don’t know, Leonard hasn’t had a chance to say."
About half an hour later, Eileen suddenly shouted, "A blue small van! Advancing northwest along the main road! Speed normal."
Taylor shouted, "The Postman has spotted it."
Gao Yang immediately raised his binoculars, focusing on the blue van, watching as it stopped at Djo’s villa gate. After a brief pause, the van drove in.
Gao Yang immediately shouted, "Confirmed blue vehicle entered the nest, keep observing and recording."
Yake came out, frowned, paused, then whispered, "It looks like a refrigerated truck transporting fresh ingredients, needs someone to observe the van up close. I’ll take a look." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Gao Yang whispered, "No need, Leonard should have already observed it. We don’t need to take risks, let’s just wait for Leonard’s feedback."
About forty-five minutes later, the blue van drove out again, returning along the route it came. After marking the time on paper, everything returned to calm.
Actually, it was always calm.
Less than ten minutes after the truck left, Number Thirteen returned. As soon as he entered, his first words were to shout, "Did the van come?"
Gao Yang shouted, "It did! Left just ten minutes ago."
Number Thirteen waved a piece of paper in his hand, lips tightly pressed together, face composed, yet his tone finally bore excitement.
"Djo is coming!"
After firmly finishing his sentence, Number Thirteen exhaled, loudly said, "That was a refrigerated truck transporting fresh ingredients, and I got the list, I copied it down!"
Yake happily said, "Well done! Well done indeed!"
Gao Yang didn’t take the paper, this analysis was Yake’s expertise.
Yake took the paper, looked up, "Two Brittany Blue Lobsters, six-tenths of a pound white truffle, two pounds of foie gras, five pounds fresh peas, five pounds fresh asparagus, two pounds frog legs, five pounds snails, five pounds each of oysters and scallops, one halibut fish."
After reading, Yake lifted his head, pondered a bit, and looked at Number Thirteen, "These ingredients cost about two thousand five hundred Euros."
Number Thirteen gave a thumbs-up, smiled, "Kule Fine Ingredients Store, two thousand five hundred and forty Euros, with shipping, two thousand seven hundred Euros."
Yake nodded repeatedly, smiled, "Whether price or quantity, these are Djo’s ingredients. I don’t believe he’d let his bodyguards eat this."
Gao Yang said solemnly, "So, Djo is coming?"
Yake handed the list to Gao Yang, smiling, "Judging by this, he’ll certainly come, and soon, as these ingredients can’t be preserved for long!"
