Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)-Chapter 209: The truth!
Mo Yuxin finally understood the whole truth of the matter. What she had thought to be a simple reincarnation turned out have a much bigger picture than she had imagined at first.
The previous Rule, as in her master whom she had thought to have passed away didn't actually die but got reincarnated after loosing all her powers because of the schemes of sha.
Back when she was summoned into the mysterious white space after dying in her first world, that was the time she first came face to face with her master or she should say, that was only a remaining consciousness of her master which would completely erase itself after finding the next successor for Rule and even though their time spent together was not even a few minutes but that was the person who gave her a completely new chance at life. She was the one who gave her the opportunity to be with Su Yubing. She was the one who gave her the life which was entirely different from her previous life. In her previous life, she had always had this sense of fragility and a very weird sense of not belonging there. She couldn't quite describe this feeling, but it was a very real and genuine feeling that she had for as long as she could remember. And it was her master who made it possible for her to live, and entirely new life filled with infinite possibilities. For this, she will always have the utmost respect for her master, her predecessor, the previous Rule, who sacrificed her life in order to not let Sha succeed in its conspiracy.
After completing her first reincarnation, Mo Yuxin could sense the shift within herself. The synchronization with the power of Rule deepened—its laws, patterns, and awareness seeped into her very being. Though her cultivation level remained at the peak of the Nascent Soul realm, her true power had long surpassed that stage. She wielded something far beyond what could be measured by mere cultivation metrics. Her presence alone could shatter the spirit of any cultivator below Soul Formation.
Right now, even though her cultivation power is only at the level of perfection Nascent soul stage but her actual powers far outweigh the ranges of mere nascent soul.
That is also the case for Su Yubing as she is 'death' herself.
Her Su Yubing—her lover, her anchor, her soulmate- was no less terrifying.
For Su Yubing wasn't simply a strong cultivator.
She was death itself.
The incarnate manifestation of the primordial law of death and rebirth. She had yet to recover her full memories, save for flickering dreams that she often muttered about in her sleep. But her presence, her aura, her instincts—everything about her was undeniably steeped in power that transcended realms.
Even so, Mo Yuxin had not expected that uncovering the truth about her master would also lead her to uncover a deeper truth about herself—one that rattled the foundations of her identity.
After completing the first reincarnation, Mo Yuxin got to know a very important part of her life, probably the most important and fundamental part of her life which she didn't even know that it existed. She has a very distinct connection with the Mo Yuxin of this world who had already died back when she first came into this world and took over the 'identity' of this world's Mo Yuxin.
At first she only thought of herself as an outsider who occupied the identity of another soul who has had a very rough and unfortunate life and died with many regrets. At first, her only motive was to help the only family of the previous Mo Yuxin and release them from their suffering and take revenge on the Mo clan people for what they had done to the previous Mo Yuxin and her family.
She had thought back then that doing these things would repay the previous Mo Yuxin for taking over her identity and she herself also wouldn't have any sense of guilt within her.
She avenged the girl. She protected her remaining family—Mother Lan and Little Feng. But for all she did, she could never quite erase the faint feeling of disconnect, of unfamiliarity, that lingered between her and them. That gap of emotion troubled her deeply.
Until now.
Because now she remembered.
Every moment. Every touch. Every tear shed by Mother Lan when she was sick as a child. The lullabies hummed late into the night. The feeling of small arms clinging tightly to her waist—Little Feng's childish embrace. All of it was real.
Because she wasn't a foreign soul inhabiting Mo Yuxin's body.
She was Mo Yuxin.
This world—the world of cultivation—was her true origin. The world of science and skyscrapers, of steel and wires and mechanical dreams, was the second life. A carefully crafted vessel prepared by the one who had once been the Rule.
Though, she did feel a slight sense of distance between her and mother Lan and Little feng which seemed almost impossible to overcome. But after regaining her true memories, she only feels a deep sense of longing and the little details of her childhood in this world all seemed to come alive right in front of her.
Mo Yuxin's heart seemed to be filled with an endless sense of longing and love for her mother and her cute little sister because, this time, she wasn't a different soul who happened to take over the identity and life of the previous Mo Yuxin but she was Mo Yuxin herself!
Her so called 'previous' world is not actually the first world she was born into. The world of science and technology was not her original world but the next world where she was purposefully born into by no one but her very master, the previous 'rule' or she should just say the remaining consciousness of the previous rule.
The Rule.
The one who maintained the balance of worlds, the weaver of the threads of fate.
The power that now resided within her wasn't something she had stumbled upon by chance—it had always been meant for her. From the very beginning, since the moment the previous Rule perished in battle, the inheritance had been waiting. Waiting for someone capable of bearing it. And she, Mo Yuxin, had always been that person.
As life elder and thunder emperor had said, the previous 'rule' truly died together with her soulmate in the battle against sha. But right before dying, the two of them did not forget to fulfill the last bit of their duty.
The previous rule as in her master's soulmate, a being renowned for her mastery of divination, released a wisp of her soul to find the next successor of Rule—a spark meant to guide the chosen one. That soul fragment drifted through time and space until it arrived at the perfect intersection of fate.
At the same time, her master—the Rule herself—expended every last fiber of her power and understanding of cosmic law, using the remnants of chaos energy to forge an inheritance unlike any other. She sealed a part of her own consciousness within it, anchoring herself in the world as a guide for the one who would come next.
Afterwards, hundreds of thousands of years passed and master's remaining consciousness waited and waited till the day she would finally find the next successor but too much time had passed and the remaining consciousness was almost on the verge of collapse. After all, it is just a remaining consciousness without any support. The only reason it was able to survive for so long without any support was only because it was the remaining consciousness of a being at the pinnacle of power, a being made of chaos itself, a being who does not just control the rules of hundreds of thousands of worlds but she herself is the rule.
And so, she endured.
Time meant little in the void. Yet even for her, the wait was agonizing.
Then one day, something stirred.
A tether of the soulmate bond sparked into existence. Faint. Fragile. But real. The remnant of the former Rule followed it through the tapestry of realms until it arrived—here. In this world of cultivation. In the body of a six-year-old girl named Mo Yuxin.
A girl who carried the exact signature of the successor. A girl who was the fated inheritor.
But she was still too young. Too fragile. Too incomplete.
And so, the master waited.
Even as the final embers of her being flickered and threatened to extinguish, she lingered.
Seven years passed.
At the age of thirteen, the girl's spiritual foundation solidified. But still, the consciousness of the Rule did not stir.
Five more years slipped by.
At eighteen, Mo Yuxin reached a critical point. The master observed her quietly, patiently waiting for the signal that she was ready to receive the inheritance.
But the spark never came.
Confused and fading, the consciousness delved deeper. She secretly sent a strand of chaos energy into Mo Yuxin's soul. It pulsed gently, scanning and analyzing.
And then she saw it—the answer she hadn't expected.
Mo Yuxin's soul was too young.
Not in age—but in essence.
Unlike her, who had been born from chaos and existed as a full and complete being, Mo Yuxin's soul was but a mere fledgling not even born yet, lacking the maturity and density required to inherit the Rule's full legacy. Even though she was the chosen one, the vessel was not yet complete.
The former Rule felt a pang of despair. Had she failed? Had time betrayed her purpose?
But then fate, as always, found a way.
It was the day that Mo Yuxin was met with a life-threatening crisis. On that day, when she went to the outskirts of the dark moon forest to gather rare medicinal herbs, she was cornered by the vile Mo family sons—those who, driven by greed and madness, sought to commit atrocities against her. Alone, wounded, her cultivation drained, she fought with all her strength. She managed to escape their clutches but sustained grave injuries.
She stumbled into the forest, blood trailing behind her.
There, a magical beast ambushed her weakened form. She ran. She fought. She screamed.
And she fell.
Off a cliff.
Wind howled. Her vision darkened. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
This was supposed to be her end.
But it wasn't.
It was her beginning.
Because at that moment—falling, dying, broken—the final key was triggered.
Master's remaining consciousness did not hesitate.
In the final moment, just as Mo Yuxin's soul began to unravel beneath the crushing weight of her injuries and spiritual exhaustion, the remnant activated the deepest core of the chaos inheritance. She bent the laws of space and time—laws she had once written herself—and severed Mo Yuxin's fragile soul from the dying body.
In that breathless instant, Mo Yuxin's soul was cast through the veil between realms.
And thus, she was reborn in a world devoid of spiritual energy—a realm ruled not by cultivation but by technology and logic, where belief in the mystical was no more than folklore and fiction. This is the world that Mo Yuxin thought was her 'previous' world, the world of technology and science without an ounce of spiritual energy. She was reincarnated in this world as an orphan to let her soul be tempered and to also mature it.
No wealth. No power. No past.
But that was exactly what was needed.
Because the soul of the successor had to grow. To endure. To sharpen itself like a blade through the whetstone of hardship. Only then could it mature enough to bear the weight of the Rule's legacy.
The master's remaining consciousness remained behind in the world of cultivation, continuing to wait. To guard. And most of all—to ensure that no force, not even Sha, could find a way to corrupt the still-developing soul.
Though it was only a fraction of a second in the cultivation world, many years passed in the realm of machines and data. In that world, Mo Yuxin learned what it meant to be powerless in a world where power meant money, influence, and control over technology rather than the sword.
She endured.
She grew. She grew beautifully and powerfully, became stronger and wealthy.
Through pain, through loneliness, through every moment of being ignored, dismissed, or underestimated, Mo Yuxin's soul slowly strengthened. Her sense of self became more defined. Her emotions, her values, her beliefs—all were tempered in the crucible of that cold, steel world.
And then, at the designated time—when the spiritual thread of inheritance tugged lightly at the core of her soul—her life there ended.
Her death in the modern world was not a coincidence.
It was destiny.
It was the moment when the master's final gamble came to fruition.
The moment when the Rule could finally return.
