Chapter 710: Chapter 387: Who Is the True Virtuous Wife? (Part 2)

"What are you thinking about all alone here?" Chen Cheng stood beside him.

Zhang Qiming sighed, drank the wine in his glass in one gulp, and did not answer.

Chen Cheng knew the reason for his worry and said, "Zhang Yang will be back soon."

"Can my son really come back?" Zhang Qiming asked eagerly.

Chen Cheng gave him a reassuring look, "I’ve already arranged everything, and all the procedures are done. If nothing unexpected happens, he should be back by the end of the month."

He paused and added, "He’ll enter through Shanghai, and someone will directly bring him to Beijing."

Hearing the definite response, Zhang Qiming’s hands trembled with excitement, his lips moved several times, but he couldn’t speak for a moment, his eyes gradually moistening.

The whole predicament began because of Zhang Yang, and now with Chen Cheng’s help, Zhang Qiming could welcome his son back, finally putting his heart at ease.

A thousand words condensed into a simple "Thank you," as Zhang Qiming quietly wiped his eyes, "Thank you, thank you, Chairman Chen..."

Chen Cheng smiled and said, "You don’t need to be so polite, Professor Zhang. As I’ve said, United Innovation is the platform for you to realize your dreams, and that includes not only your scientific dreams but also your personal wishes.

Zhang Yang is your son and our hope for United Innovation’s future. His return is a positive thing for us as well."

Zhang Qiming naturally understood his son’s capabilities, and Chen Cheng’s words offered him a gracious escape.

Facing these sophisticated interpersonal skills, Zhang Qiming nodded deeply, "Chairman Chen, I understand. Thank you."

Chen Cheng raised his glass, "Today is also your big day, you can’t just stand in this empty corner. Come, let’s go meet them together."

"Okay!"

...

...

On the other side, at Dili Building.

The only one who could make Chen Cheng feel comfortable enough to attend the groundbreaking ceremony must be Wen Shulin helping in the background.

Since Dili’s staff hadn’t been fully recruited yet, as soon as she received Chen Cheng’s call, she brought the HR, public relations, security, and logistics departments of HCG to support.

Normally, she could have just arranged it with one phone call, and it would have been done.

But since this was Chen Cheng’s most valued day, this lady boss personally came to the site to handle all sorts of matters.

Dili Building was brightly lit, with people busy on every floor.

The final touches of the decorations were being completed, and various office equipment was gradually being installed.

Wen Shulin rolled up her long hair and, in a smart business suit, moved through the floors, meticulously checking every detail.

"Xiao Li, is the guest list for the opening ceremony confirmed? Be sure to ensure every guest receives their invitation and that the corresponding reception arrangements are made."

"Chairman Wen, it’s confirmed. All invitations have been sent out, and on the day of the opening, there will be assigned staff responsible for each guest’s reception," the HR manager responded.

"Good, be careful and make sure nothing goes wrong." Wen Shulin looked at the media reception area, "Expand this area a little more and prepare some gifts for all the media present that day. Also, review their questions to ensure nothing goes wrong."

"Okay, Chairman Wen, I’ll contact the public relations and logistics teams."

Wen Shulin nodded, stepped into the elevator, and went straight to the top-floor banquet hall.

The spacious and bright hall had already been set up, with red carpet covering the floor, the stage adorned with flowers and greenery, and the lighting and sound equipment fully tested.

"Chairman Wen, does this setup look okay to you?"

Wen Shulin looked around, her gaze landing on the background board at the center of the stage, which featured the Dili Private Equity logo and the theme of the opening ceremony.

"Make the logo larger and the theme more prominent," Wen Shulin pondered for a moment and gave her opinion, "Also, the color of the flowers should be more vibrant to create a festive and lively atmosphere."

"Got it, Chairman Wen, I’ll have someone alter it immediately." The manager noted the details, "As for the flowers..."

"I’ve already had them airlifted from Dian City, and they’ll arrive by tomorrow afternoon. Make sure the logistics team is ready for maintenance."

"Understood!"

Wen Shulin inspected the banquet hall’s lighting, sound, table, and chair arrangements, ensuring everything met her standards.

"Sister Lin?"

At this moment, Xiao Meier also arrived at the top floor.

Seeing the busy Wen Shulin, she quickly walked over.

"Xiao Er, you’re here?" Wen Shulin beamed.

Xiao Meier nodded, "Sister Lin, it’s really kind of you. With such a significant occasion as Dili’s opening, to have you personally oversee it all."

Wen Shulin waved her hand, "No need to mention the hassle. Mr. Chen has helped me in many ways before; his matters are mine as well."

She paused and added, "Besides, haven’t you come yourself?"

"What I do is minor compared to your efforts."

"Hey~ Wanbao Hall in charge of catering is no small matter."

Wen Shulin laughed, "The importance of food can’t be overstated, especially the buffet at the opening ceremony and the banquet that evening. They are critically important. The guests will be from all walks of life, and if the dishes don’t suit their taste or the service is lacking, it might affect Dili’s image."

Xiao Meier fully understood, "Yes, I’m really unsure about it. These days, Xiao Cheng has been so busy with United Innovation that he hasn’t even been home."

She took out a proposed menu, "Sister Lin, can you give me some advice? If something’s not suitable, I’ll change it immediately."

Wen Shulin took the menu and went through it carefully.

The menu was elegantly designed and offered a wide variety of dishes, ranging from Western and Chinese cold dishes to hot dishes, and also desserts and beverages, all thoughtfully arranged.

As she looked over it, she nodded intermittently, "Xiao Er, this menu is quite good, it’s evident that a lot of thought has been put into it."

"It’s all thanks to Chef Hou and the team," Xiao Meier humbly said, "I only provided some suggestions."

Wen Shulin smiled, "Your suggestions are the most crucial. However, I do have a couple of minor suggestions."

"Go ahead."

Wen Shulin pointed at the menu’s dishes, "These dishes are mostly traditional Cantonese, with a mild flavor. You might consider adding a few Sichuan or Hunan dishes to cater to guests from different regions."

"Yeah, Sister Lin is right," Xiao Meier agreed, nodding, "I thought about this before but was concerned some guests might not handle spicy well."

"You can prepare some mildly spicy dishes," Wen Shulin suggested, "or clearly mark the spice levels on the menu, letting the guests choose themselves."

"Great idea," Xiao Meier promptly marked it on the menu, "Anything else, Sister Lin?"

Wen Shulin flipped through further, "Regarding the buffet, I feel the selection could be more diverse. The current menu leans heavily on Western cold dishes, which seems a bit plain."

"You could include some Chinese dim sum, like exquisite Cantonese dim sum, Xiao Long Bao, Shaomai, etc., to prominently feature our local specialties and accommodate different guests’ tastes."

"Oh, right," Xiao Meier smacked her forehead, "How did I forget this! I’ll add them immediately."

She quickly pulled out her cellphone to note it down.

Wen Shulin continued, "Moreover, since there will be quite a few foreign guests, you might want to introduce some dishes they are more familiar with in the Western cold section, such as different cheeses, hams, salads, and so forth."

"Sister Lin thinks of everything," Xiao Meier praised, "I’ll make arrangements when I return."

Wen Shulin nodded, her gaze turning to the beverage list. "As for drinks, I think the variety of champagne could be expanded, as such a grand opening calls for it.

Additionally, more non-alcoholic options like freshly squeezed juices and sparkling water could be added to provide more choices for guests who don’t drink."

"Okay, I’ve noted it," Xiao Meier said with a big smile, "With Sister Lin’s guidance, I’m more confident now."

Wen Shulin smiled as well, "Let’s work together to give Mr. Chen a pleasant surprise."

"Mhm! Sure!"

Xiao Meier’s gaze fell on the big diamond ring on Wen Shulin’s finger, "Hey? Sister Lin? When did you start wearing a ring? I’ve never seen you wear one before."

Wen Shulin was taken aback for a half-second, "Ah? This? I bought it myself."

Xiao Meier clearly didn’t believe her, "It must have been a gift! Sister Lin, your ability to keep a secret is truly flawless~"

Curiously, she asked, "Come on, tell me, who is the lucky one? Who has earned your favor?"

Wen Shulin touched the diamond ring, "This... I really did buy it myself."
