Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 302: Sniffing
Chapter 302: Sniffing
"If I didn’t know better and couldn’t hear the sound of your racing heart, I would truly think that you weren’t the least bit interested in me!" he whispered right into her left ear, which made her cheeks redden even twice as much as they did the first time and made her fight even harder to get away from him.
"Relax!!! I just want to hug you!" he whispered to her, even as he laid down on the bed and closed his eyes.
Violet had no idea what he was up to, but at the same time, she didn’t care as she finally relaxed into his arms but didn’t stop talking.
"You need to at least ask Uva to check you out!" she whispered in a tone that conveyed just how much she worried about him, which only made him chuckle in response and made her want to hit him, which she tried to do, only to be unable to move with his entire hands and body wrapped around her.
"I already called her! It’s probably something very simple. You don’t need to worry!" he whispered into her hair as he leaned closer to her until their bodies were completely stuck and clung to each other.
Violet didn’t fall asleep and wasn’t sure if Cain did, even if his breathing leveled out, but she simply decided that even if it was just a simple rest, it would definitely help him.
They stayed like that for a very long time, and it wasn’t until they heard a loud knock on the door that Violet, who had been slowly drifting off, realized that there was someone at the door and got off the bed to open it.
Relieved to feel Cain’s arms, which weren’t too tight, give her more than enough room to slip off as she moved to answer the door.
She was not surprised to see Uva since she had been expecting her even more than Cain was, but what surprised her instead was the sudden formality with which Uva greeted her.
"Good morning, Lady Violet!" she opened her mouth to speak with a low bow the moment Violet opened the door to see her with a veil over her face and her face back to her much older and original appearance.
Violet was tempted to ask questions but instead chose to toss them aside as she heard footsteps from behind her. Cain was awake and walked steadily towards her, even though there was still a thin film of tiredness in his eyes.
Uva turned and bowed much lower than before, with an expression that Violet could barely make out through the net wrapped around her face.
"You called, MY LORD!" Uva spoke, ready to kneel if that was all it would take so she could leave the mansion once and for all.
But she had just spoken when she heard Violet immediately begin to speak in a slightly uneasy tone.
"He’s not eating, and he throws up whatever he eats!" Violet quickly said, aware that there were other issues as she turned to glance at Cain but also aware that Cain wouldn’t tell her unless he wanted to.
Uva instantly bowed her head again to both of them, one after the other, before she continued to speak.
"I apologize, but to find out and carry out any preliminary examinations, I would need blood!" Uva mentioned, even as Cain instantly nodded his head to agree, with Violet moving her head a second later.
Witches craved werewolf blood, but one thing he was almost sure of was that Uva had no reason to betray him. But still, he had gone as far as to do some research on her family and had been glad by what he found.
"You can take all the blood you need!" Cain added, even as Violet vigorously nodded her head to show that she also agreed.
But instead of immediately getting to work, Uva bent her head again and began to speak to Cain this time around.
"It would be better to do this alone?" she spoke in a low voice, hinting at something without outrightly saying it, but it was enough for Cain to pick up on.
Turning to speak to Violet only for her to beat him to it before he could speak.
"I’m not going anywhere! Last I checked... I was your mate!" she said with a stony look on her face and a trace of disappointment that made Cain instantly swallow whatever it was that he had planned to say.
He found her confident tone and fierce look a bit endearing, even as he nodded his head and turned to instruct Uva with a look to simply go ahead and withdraw the blood.
Uva nodded her head, eyes focused on Cain, as she went ahead to do as she was supposed to.
Muttering a spell under her breath, which instantly lit up her eyes, even as she continued to speak while hovering her hand over his arm.
Chanting words Violet had heard before but was still extremely unfamiliar with under her breath, even as she also wondered when she might be able to do something so grand.
Her wonder only grew as she watched blood slowly seep out of Cain’s skin without breaking open, almost like it was simply oozing out of his pores like sweat.
Moving straight to the vial Uva held in her hand as it smoothly followed instructions and did nothing else.
It only took a few minutes before Uva stopped muttering under her breath, and the blood that seeped out stopped.
But she had just stopped the muttering under her breath when her eyes instantly widened in shock, and she wasn’t the only one with the astounded look on her face.
Cain himself also looked equally shocked as he stared at the blood in the vial Uva held in her hand, going as far as to grab it from her and hold it close to his nose as he took a sharp pull, sniffing it vigorously.
Curious and confused, Violet also leaned closer, sniffing as she wondered what Cain could possibly perceive that would make him have such a strong reaction to his own blood.
But no matter how much she sniffed, she smelled nothing but the cold and metallic smell of blood, which she only smelled after a long sniffing period.
