Chapter 119: I Will Be

’’He said no. He would rather be a fallen God and degenerate more into what he is now and destroys everything the heavens and I worked so hard to build.’’

Evangeline just stared at the broken-hearted goddess standing a few feet from her not knowing what to say or how to comfort her.

So, he has always been like this. Why was she expecting him to be the victim so that her growing hate for him would not surpass what she could control? Her lips quivered as she stifled her cry and laid buried her emotions. She wouldn’t want to appear so weak and broken before God.

But that doesn’t cover the fact of how painful it was to hear this from someone you once made yourself believe was perfection. The perfect lover. Tears slowly began to cloud her vision as she felt more cracks opening in her heart.

’’He fell and degenerated into the wicked demon prince that oppressed and killed thousands from many centuries without shame or pity. Defying the heavens and putting a hard stain on me that’s difficult to get rid of. Charlotte, he deserves to die.’’

Charlotte could not form a single syllable. Her hands balling into a tight fist at her sides in anger.

’’If you think I am just being pathetic to get you to do the right thing, I can provide you with access to my memory so you could see for yourself how your darling Ree-ree was nothing but a heartless monster.’’

Evangeline pushed back uninterested. It couldn’t be that hard to believe he was capable of being so rebellious from the very beginning of time. There was no need to be haunted by things she knew she couldn’t live with lingering in her mind.

’’Please,’’ She finally found her tongue as she slowly lowered herself to her knees before the goddess, letting out her sob and bottled up emotions. ’’How can I return home and leave all this behind? I would rather not keep living like this. I would rather not be anybody else apart from myself. I don’t belong here, and I want this all to be just one terrible nightmare. Please.’’

If she was powerful enough to help her transmigration in this world, she should be capable of reversing this terrible fate she has been enduring for five long years. She wants to return to her world and live it right this time. No more useless and unnecessary attachment to an unknown entity, and no more being hateful or bitter to people.

Ree-ree has taught her how pointless all this was in the hard way. And she wishes to return things to the way they were before, but this time without him being involved in her life. If possible, he wouldn’t be able to be near her until the day she dies.

A line of tears trailed down her pale cheeks as the goddess came close to the human, looking up at her for mercy. The goddess ran her hands through her thick brown hair and slightly traced her fingers down the left side of her face in sympathy.

’’But you don’t have a body to return to anymore in that world. It has been buried and It’s nothing but bones and rotten flesh six feet under.’’

Her words felt like a sharp stab to her heart. She lowered her head as if in deep pain and many regrets.

’’But. There is always hope when you kneel before me.’’ 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Charlotte raised her teary gaze at the goddess once again. The enigma before her smiled and nodded her head down at her that there is still a way out of this.

’’This nightmare you’ve currently been forced to live in can be reversed only if you make good use of the weapon you’ve been given.’’

Charlotte thought about it. The weapon Andrea gave her to use to end the demon prince.

’’There was a reason you both were brought together. It was the divine plans of the heavens to use you to account for all of his numerous sins. The destiny everyone thought was for Evangeline has been yours to fulfil the entire time. It has been calling out to you until the point of your death and rebirth and the moment you answer its calling everything would return as it should.’’

Charlotte felt enlightened and in a deep state of shock.

What?

The heavens were in this to?

All this has been planned out just to bring about his doom. She has been suffering and going through too much emotional pain and confusion all these while to have her destiny be fulfilled in another world in the skin and flesh of another.

But why her?

The heavens could have chosen another individual to get rid of the terror they had made, but why her?

Why don’t they always have a choice in whether they wanted to be used by the heavens to clear up their mess?

It felt so wrong and unfair. Everything had all been a lie. She has been groomed since the point of conception in her mother to be the very ruin of a fallen and wayward ancient god that degenerated to nothing but pure evil.

Now, she understands why she was so uncontrollably fond and attached to him. He has always been her destiny from the very beginning. The reason for her existence and her ticket to buy her way out from this strangling plans of the heavens and get to live her life for herself and for no other reason.

The moment, it all made sense to her and the majority of her questions had been answered and understood. Her hands and feet began to dissolve into nothing but dark-red soothe. Her goodbye from this place. She stared up at the goddess for the last time.

’’Do the right thing and make use of the weapon and everything would be as you wanted again.’’

She woke up with the goddess’s words ringing non-stop in her head. She laid there on the bed for hours, thinking and crying. She was glad he was nowhere around to see her like this. Eventually, she made up her mind, rolled out from the dark and depressing sheets of the bed and walked over to where the coat was. Her long, white hair swayed over her lower waist with each move she made. She pulled out the god-slaying dagger from the coat, and an idea crossed her mind on the best way to go about this.

She would make use of this weapon to get rid of him and then everything would return to how it should be like the moon goddess promised.

Evangeline quickly hid the dagger inside the coat and hid it under the bed when she heard footsteps. He stepped at the moment she rose to her feet from the bed, looking all regally dressed and flaunting his beauty and how endowed he was in every area. She gulped the moment those eyes locked with hers from where she stood.

’’You are finally awake,’’ he said the moment he was before her.

She tried to have this welcoming look on her face, but it was difficult the more she looked at him. It would be hard to believe he was once a god that neglected his duties and fell only to be the king of the dungeons, causing havoc and depriving this world of peace.

Evangeline was tempted to ask why he never wanted to play god and why he was so rebellious towards the wishes of the heavens and not submissive. But at the same time, would that take her are back home and make all this nothing but a nightmare?

No.

She must focus on what’s going to work and forget all these ever happened. Who knows, this might be her only chance, and she mustn’t screw it up.

’’Come with me to eat. I have them prepare something edible for you to eat.’’ He held her hands and began to drag her out of the room.

’’Make me your queen.’’

Darkness paused as he thought he heard wrong or just imagined her saying that. He turned around to face her, wondering what made her change her mind about an idea that will surely be with or without her approval overnight.

’’I will be your queen,’’ She said again, taking him by surprise, raising his suspicions a bit about her. ’’Make me your queen.’’

His silence and the buried doubt about her that moved in his eyes did not faze her a bit. She was determined to get on with this. The quicker she gets this done with, the sooner she leaves this place and everything and makes right with the remaining pieces of her life.

She would return with no imaginary lover lingering at the corners of her life and wanting to tear it down apart. She was returning with no strong desire to see him for what he is so they could finally be together as one. The perfect couple.

It stung painfully at the corner of her eyes the longer she stared at him. Wishing everything in her that things didn’t have to end up like this between them. Wishing her lovely Ree-ree isn’t this beautiful monster holding her bound to him for all eternity.

She wondered why he found it hard to say something to her. He just stared at her in that suspicious way before nodding his head and leading her out of the room.
