Master, Your Wife Has Become a Super Star Through Fortune-Telling-Chapter 50 - 52: The Call of the Night
"But I’ve never posted any pictures online," Lonely Wolf said, completely stunned.
[Who cares, really? Maybe you just ran into a look-alike in real life.]
[Or maybe he’s been to your city before.]
[No, but I really feel like I’ve seen him before!]
Just as the comments section was about to erupt into an argument.
Su Nian spoke up. "Aside from all that, have you noticed anything wrong with your own body?"
Her eyes met his, her gaze placid and free of any harshness.
Yet, for some reason, it sent a wave of panic through Lonely Wolf.
But after thinking for a long time, all he could say was...
"I just haven’t felt like eating lately."
Su Nian: "Is it that you don’t want to eat, or that you *can’t* eat?"
The strange question confused Lonely Wolf again. He looked dazed, as if trying to recall something.
[I dunno why, but the streamer’s reaction feels really weird.]
[Yeah, the guy wants to solve the spooky stuff, but her line of questioning is just bizarre.]
[What if the problem *is* the food? Then it makes sense for the streamer to ask for details.]
"I’m not really sure. I just don’t want to eat anything. I guess it’s because I’m not hungry."
[I guess skinny people just don’t get as hungry.]
[I wish I could say I’m not hungry and don’t want to eat, but I’m over here eating three bowls per meal!]
[As someone on a diet, this makes me want to cry.]
Just as the viewers were marveling at the idea of someone not enjoying a good meal...
Su Nian already had a suspicion, but she didn’t voice it directly.
Instead, she asked another question.
"How has your memory been lately? Do you feel like you’ve forgotten anything important?"
"Huh?"
Lonely Wolf was even more baffled, but he obliged and tried to think back.
The moment he tried, however, his head felt like it was about to split open.
He felt dizzy. It seemed he really had forgotten something.
"I think I did forget something... Let me check my notes."
His unnaturally pale hand began to flip through a small notebook.
"That’s weird. What’s going on? There’s nothing here."
Lonely Wolf muttered to himself until his finger landed on a specific date.
The entry was from a few days ago. It said he was supposed to go on a trip to Tibet.
"That’s so weird. How could I have forgotten about my trip to Tibet?"
"And I always make a habit of taking notes. Why haven’t I written anything for so many days?"
Su Nian looked at him with a hint of pity in her eyes.
"You really can’t remember what happened to you?"
Lonely Wolf furrowed his brow, troubled.
"I really can’t remember. But I always write down everything that happens in my notebook, like a diary. I’ve kept a daily journal ever since I learned to write in the first grade."
"Since there’s nothing in my notebook, it must have been something minor that I didn’t bother to write down."
[First time I’ve ever seen the streamer look at someone with so much pity.]
[Don’t tell me he has some kind of incurable disease.]
[Or maybe even the streamer can’t handle this ghost.]
The viewers had a lot of theories and were debating fiercely, but then something strange happened.
"Xiao Dong... Xiao Dong... my child..."
The voice came intermittently, just as Lonely Wolf had described. Someone was calling his name.
[HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT! SPAM THE CHAT FOR PROTECTION!]
[That ghostly thing... don’t tell me it’s hiding in his house right now!]
[That voice sounds so tragic. Pretty streamer, I’m so scared. Can you come keep me company and protect me...?]
[Dude above, have some shame. You’re a 1.9-meter-tall giant. What’s with the damsel-in-distress act? A tough guy with a tender heart, huh?]
But then something even stranger happened. The faint scent of burning incense seemed to drift through the air.
Lonely Wolf’s muscles tensed. ’It’s happening again, it’s happening again.’
He looked at Su Nian in a panic. "Streamer, it’s just like before! Next, my pocket is going to bulge, and then a stack of Joss Paper will just appear out of nowhere!"
[I wasn’t that convinced when he said it before, but now this is getting seriously creepy.]
[HELP ME, GUYS! WHO GETS IT? I’m walking outside alone right now and I’m about to piss my pants.]
[I’m so scared too. I feel like a ghost is gonna pop out from behind me any second.]
[Dude above, you’re good at predicting things. I have a feeling that’s exactly where this is going.]
Lonely Wolf was terrified. "Streamer, save me! Even though I’ve never seen this ghost and it’s always been low-key, it could be hiding in my house right now, just waiting for me to let my guard down!"
The look in Su Nian’s eyes grew even more peculiar, and she let out a sigh.
"It’s okay. Come on out. Leave the house. I’ll direct you to a place."
[Seriously, this is the first time I’ve ever heard the streamer’s tone be this gentle.]
[Don’t tell me Lonely Wolf is a goner?]
[I don’t think so. That couple who got enchanted by the Spider Demons didn’t have long to live either, right? But the streamer was just business as usual, doing what needed to be done.]
"Streamer... what do you mean?"
Lonely Wolf was trembling. He was too scared to even move, let alone leave his house in the middle of the night to go to some strange place at Su Nian’s direction.
It sounded completely reckless, like something out of a horror movie where the dumb kids go looking for trouble.
"Go on. You’ll find all the answers."
[Don’t be scared, Lonely Wolf! The streamer is super powerful!]
[Yeah, she’s probably going to help you get rid of the ghost.]
[Yeah, seriously, don’t worry. I’m a long-time fan, and I’m so jealous of you right now! I wish I could go on an adventure this exciting!]
[Lonely Wolf, I’m in A City, too! How about this: I’ll come find you, and we can go together as a team! That way you won’t be scared!]
A kind-hearted and adventurous person in the chat responded to the call.
Feeling bolstered by the support, Lonely Wolf gave out his address.
Then he glanced cautiously at Su Nian. "It’s okay if someone comes with me, right, Streamer?"
Su Nian’s expression was a little strange, but she simply said, "Yes."
Lonely Wolf waited at the entrance to his residential complex for a long time, but the person who wanted to join his adventure never showed up.
He did see someone who looked like he could be the guy, but when he went up to talk to him, the person just ignored him.
Lonely Wolf was furious. To make matters worse, the guy was making excuses, spamming the live chat like crazy.
[I’m really here! How come I don’t see anyone?!]
Lonely Wolf was beyond angry. Getting stood up at a time like this, and the guy was still trying to play innocent.
Fed up, he quickly decided to just go by himself.
But the other guy wasn’t having it.
[I’m really here! If you don’t believe me, I’ll request a video call with the streamer to show you all that I’m not lying!]
[LOL, first time seeing a liar be so smug about it.]
[Streamer, let him connect! Don’t let him keep spouting nonsense!]
[Anyway, I just saw Lonely Wolf walk around, and there was nobody there. The only young guy holding a phone was super rude, too! Lonely Wolf asked him a question and he totally ignored him.]
Seeing the video call request constantly popping up, Su Nian accepted it.
But the moment the boy’s face appeared on screen, the viewers started chewing him out.
[Holy crap, isn’t that the same guy Lonely Wolf just tried to talk to?] 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
[So you’re the rude one!]
[Pretending you didn’t see him! You have no class.]
But the boy’s brow was deeply furrowed.
"What are you guys talking about? I’ve been here the whole time, and nobody came up to me at all!"
