Martial Arts Worlds-Chapter 849: Death Returns
Kiernan came across a shocking truth!
It was something nobody in the entire universe knew, and if they did know that the actual Death had left, the entire universe would collapse!
The evildoers would become bolder since they didn’t have to fear Death, and chaos would reign supreme.
"I-If you kill me... A-And new Death doesn’t reincarnate... E-everyone will realize that the real Death is still alive somewhere.
"And they would realize I was the fake one. Y-You would put the whole universe in danger, so think about it!"
The Fake Death shouted.
"Give me your divinity... And I will consider it."
Kiernan said coldly.
"Right away, sir!"
Fake Death grabbed Kiernan’s hand, and his divinity flowed into him like a river in flood—it was a small amount compared to the amount of divinity that actual gods had.
However, it was still better than nothing.

He quickly checked on his updated interface.

’These attributes are starting to look quite crazy.’
Kiernan thought.
"S-So... You are letting me go... Right?"
The Fake Death asked.
In that moment, Kiernan jabbed his finger through the Fake Death’s heart, and his eyes widened in shock.
"B-but... you... promised..."
"I said I will consider it. You hurt my daughter. You were never going to leave this place alive."
Kiernan said.
The Fake Death collapsed to the ground, tears welling in his eyes, and then he whispered in pain.
"Y-You’ve doomed everything... With this... There will be no more Death..."
"Death has already returned."
Kiernan said coldly.
"Huh?"
The Fake Death paused, confusion evident in his expression.
He hadn’t noticed it, but there was someone there all along, sitting at the nearby rock, smoking a pipe.
The person was wearing open shirt of palm trees, sunny beaches, and blue skies—he was also wearing sandals—and he looked like he had just returned from the beach.
"Ah!"
The Fake Death’s eyes opened in shock as he realized just who he was, and he was gathering all his strength into this one shout.
"Lord Death... SAVE ME!"
"Huh?"
Death looked over, then smoked the pipe, and turned away once again.
"You got yourself into this mess. You get yourself out."
He said.
"What..."
The Fake Death exclaimed in a shock, but then he let out his final breath as it took all his strength to shout, and he closed his eyes for the last time.
"I told the fool to keep a low profile. But he was doing the opposite of it. Acting flashy, even going to the Feast of the Gods even when I never did, and now he’s paid the price."
Death chuckled and looked at Kiernan.
He had never been impressed by a mortal before, but he had to agree, this mortal had surpassed every mortal he had come across.
"Are you planning to stay?"
Kiernan asked.
"I never planned to have a vacation that lasts forever. I was always going to come back. I just didn’t think it was going to happen this soon.
"I’ve been Death for longer than you could think of... Since the dawn of the universe... Through the destruction and rebirth... And all I asked was couple million years of vacation.
"Is that too much to ask for?
"Tch, I was barely able to enjoy my vacation for a little bit over a thousand years."
Death clicked his tongue, but then he shrugged his shoulders and said, "It is what it is," and stood back up.
"That fool would’ve blown my cover, which is why I had to return. The way he acted was pathetic. It wouldn’t have taken much longer for Big God to find out the truth.
"And then I would’ve been in trouble."
Death said.
He then looked across the Afterlife—and he was able to see the destruction—the deaths of Reapers.
It was a big loss for Afterlife—especially losing the Head Reapers—and it only meant there was going to be more work for him.
"Sorry."
Kiernan said.
He could already tell what Death was thinking about it, and he was going to have to overwork for quite a long while.
Since the Head Reapers were dead, he had to do the job of judging souls temporarily until they were replaced.
And it wasn’t easy to find Head Reapers, and it could take millions of years.
The other Reapers were easier to replace, but it was a lot of work.
"No need. They died because of that foolish fake. I need to get back to work, so I would appreciate it if you leave."
Death said.
"...Sure thing."
Kiernan looked at the sky and could tell that someone was looking at him—The Fair One was watching—and she then knew that he wanted to leave.
Within seconds, bright light engulfed him, and he disappeared.
...
Swoosh!
Kiernan reappeared back in the beautiful palace and saw the Fair One sitting on her throne—like always.
"I didn’t expect to hear such shocking piece of news today."
The Fair One said.
She was watching and listening to everything that happened in the Afterlife.
"Yes, it took me off guard. Can you check whether Ellie is actually cured? I believe the fake one did remove her curse, but I can’t ever trust these guys."
Kiernan said.
The Fair One nodded, closed her eyes for a moment, and a short while later, she opened them again with a smile.
"The curse is completely gone. I also added a protection spell on her. It should protect her from getting cursed again in the future."
"Thank you... I need to head back, so can you take me back?"
Kiernan asked.
"Okay~ And congratulations."
The Fair One smiled.
And with that, Kiernan disappeared into the bright light.
...
"Mmh... Ah..."
Ellie’s eyes fluttered open, and the doctors were crowding around her hospital bed, and she suddenly felt very shy.
"Dad... Mom...?"
She was scared to be around so many strangers, but then, the door opened, and Aoi came running in with tears welling in her eyes.
"Ellie!"
Aoi hugged her tightly, and Ellie smiled and returned her hug with her tiny arms and noticed that there were a lot of people outside the hospital room.
Relatives... Friends of the family...
"The color has returned back to her face. Vitals look excellent. The fever is completely down. As well as the cough. It looks like she is in a perfect condition."
The head doctor said.
However, it was pretty shocking thing because just yesterday it looked like she wouldn’t be able to survive through the night.
"Where is Dad?"
Ellie asked her mother, and she looked stunned before struggling to answer because she didn’t know.
In that moment, through the door, a man pushed through everyone and looked to be in quite a disheveled state.
"Ellie..."
Kiernan breathed a sigh of relief, and with a smile, walked next to the bed, and in that moment, Ellie jumped into his arms to hug him.
Aoi looked lovingly at her husband, and then hugged both Kiernan and Ellie tightly—a very sweet-looking scene.
The doctors departed from the room to give them space, and the others waiting outside came pouring into the hospital room.
"Whew..."
Kiernan sat down on the chair, looking quite exhausted, and everyone had a lot of questions about where he had been.
However.
As soon as Ellie got back, so did he, so there must’ve been something that he did to make that happen.
And he looked like he had been done fighting a battle.
What they didn’t know was that Kiernan actually stormed into Hell, killed the entire army of Hell, and their strongest forces—the Reapers.
"Son."
Karma nodded at him, sat beside him, and watched the scene of Ellie being back to her cheerful self.
It was hard for everyone to watch her slowly wither away, and it was obvious that she wouldn’t have been able to last another day.
"Are you alright?"
He asked from his son.
"...I am now."
Kiernan let out a long breath, and then he looked to the hospital door, and his eyebrow raised in surprise.
There was a face that he didn’t expect to see here—Karl-Michael Abracadabra—standing in the doorway.
In that moment, he motioned for Kiernan to come over.
"...?"
Kiernan stood up and walked over to him, and they walked a little further away to have a private conversation.
"What is it?"
Kiernan asked.
"That woman you warned us about—Mercedes—might have arrived here already. Over a week ago, we received a final report from our navy ships.
"They saw a silver-haired woman walking on water.
"After that, the navy ships turned quiet. We found out shortly afterwards that they have sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
"The woman was nowhere to be seen."
Karl-Michael said with a serious look.
"Sounds like her then."
Kiernan said with a serious look.
It meant that the world was in immense danger, and he had to find her as soon as possible before she did something horrible.
However.
He’d been fighting nonstop, and he was honestly very exhausted, and thus, if he had to fight Mercedes now, it would be very hard.
Buzz~ Buzz~
At that moment, his phone vibrated with a phone call, and he curiously pulled his phone out to see who was calling.
’Oh? That’s a name I haven’t seen in a while.
[Azer Karuza is calling...]
