Martial Arts Overlord-Chapter 584 - 582: Saber Man
Luo Feng looked at the beautiful swordsman and asked, "Is there anything else?"
A trace of blood lingered on her rosy lips, adding a hint of allure to her beautiful face. She looked at Luo Feng, frowned, and said, "Young hero, are there any other Underground Demons nearby?"
Luo Feng rubbed his nose and said, "We received intelligence that the Underground Demons are heading towards Sky Frost City and Crack Stone City. This place isn't far from Sky Frost City, so there should be many Underground Demons appearing soon."
Hearing this, the complexions of the martial artists nearby changed drastically.
"Oh no, the village is in danger!" a square-faced man exclaimed.
The beautiful swordsman bit her red lip and said, "Young hero, please save our village! There are still three hundred forty-five people there, mostly ordinary folk. If they encounter the Underground Demons..."
Luo Feng glanced back at Bing Ruolan and He Qin; both nodded.
"Lead the way."
Hearing this, the beautiful swordsman was taken aback.
In her experience, experts usually maintained a lofty attitude and weren't easy to approach, but Luo Feng had no such airs.
"Thank you!"
Surprised, the beautiful swordsman's tone became much friendlier. She explained, "Our village is Snow Rock Village, located in a valley about thirty miles from here."
As she spoke, the four of them pushed their Qinggong to its limits and dashed towards the southern mountains.
"Let's go."
Luo Feng tapped his feet, his body seemingly weightless as he flew ahead. Bing Ruolan and He Qin followed closely.
The second round of the assessment was to eliminate the Underground Demons, which didn't conflict with rescuing the village. Besides, Luo Feng couldn't just stand by and watch people die.
He chose the saber as his weapon precisely because he admired the straightforward, heartfelt boldness of a Saber man. To see injustice and draw one's saber to help—that is the path of a Saber man.
As they traveled and talked, Luo Feng learned the beautiful swordsman's name was Ye Qin. She was the leader of this small adventuring team. Their village's land was barren, so her group often hunted Demon Beasts to gather materials and improve the villagers' lives.
"Not only is Captain Ye the foremost expert in Snow Rock Village, but she's also our village's greatest beauty!" the oldest martial artist among them chuckled.
"Uncle Tang!" Ye Qin glared at the middle-aged martial artist, her beautiful eyes stealthily glancing at Luo Feng.
As the most talented martial artist in her village, her aspirations were naturally high. She had always dreamed of marrying a powerful martial artist. Luo Feng, so young yet already a Spiritual Rotation Realm expert—it was impossible for her not to be stirred.
However, Luo Feng's mind was preoccupied with the Underground Demons; he didn't catch the subtle meaning behind their words, nor did he notice Ye Qin's gaze.
Seeing this, a self-deprecating smile touched Ye Qin's lips. She shook her head, abandoning her fleeting fantasy.
She was just an ordinary mortal. Luo Feng, however, if he continued to progress, was destined to soar through the Nine Heavens, a true dragon among men. They belonged to two different worlds.
He Qin, walking behind Luo Feng, witnessed all of this, yet her exquisite face remained impassive.
"Underground Demons ahead!" a martial artist suddenly cried out.
Among the trees ahead swarmed twenty to thirty Underground Demons. Most were Bone Scale Demons, but there were also three or four Blood Ash Demons with entirely blood-red skin.
The forest was dimly lit, but the crimson eyes of the Underground Demons gleamed with an even more terrifying light, making the martial artists' scalps tingle.
"Invisible Sword Qi!"
He Qin's figure drifted forward, the Cold Snow Sword appearing in her hand. With a flick of her slender wrist, the frigid blade vanished, and the air rippled with dense, distorted fissures.
In the next moment, a large section of the forest silently shattered. Transparent Sword Qi tore through the area, and a rain of blood descended. Countless sword wounds appeared on both Bone Scale Demons and Blood Ash Demons alike. They all collapsed, their blood soaking the earth.
So strong! Are all the students in the Twelve Golden Palaces' assessment this terrifying? a young martial artist stared at the ravaged forest, his eyes wide with shock.
He Qin hadn't uttered a single word so far. He'd assumed she was just a delicate woman; even as a Spiritual Rotation Realm martial artist, her strength shouldn't have been *that* outrageous. But reality had shattered his expectations—her swordsmanship could only be described as horrifying.
A middle-aged martial artist nearby gave a wry smile and said, "How could that be? Even among all the students in the Twelve Golden Palaces' assessment, these three must be exceptional."
Ye Qin gazed at He Qin, a trace of envy in her eyes—an envy tinged with something more.
He Qin paid no heed to their discussion. "Let's keep moving," she said.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
They were not far from the village, yet Underground Demons had already appeared. Not daring to delay, they pushed their speed to the maximum, flying through the forest.
After a short while, the group arrived in a valley.
Scattered buildings dotted the valley. It was nearly noon, and wisps of smoke drifted from the chimneys.
Seeing the village untouched by Underground Demons, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Two armored martial artists stood guard at the village entrance. Spotting the approaching group, they hurried over. "Ye Qin! Brother Chen! Weren't you out hunting? Why are you back so soon? And who are these three?"
Ye Qin's expression was grim. "Quick, tell everyone in the village to gather at the entrance! We're evacuating immediately!" she said urgently.
"Evacuate? Why?" The two martial artists looked bewildered.
Without further explanation, Ye Qin leaped onto the watchtower by the gate and began to strike the large copper bell hanging there forcefully.
DONG! DONG! DONG!
The urgent clanging of the bell echoed throughout the valley.
"What's going on?"
"Could it be horse bandits? What should we do? Ye Qin and her group just left!"
"To the village entrance! Quickly!"
Figures rushed from the buildings one after another, weapons in hand, all heading for the village entrance.
When they reached the village entrance, there was no sign of horse bandits, and their faces filled with confusion.
"Everyone, listen! The Underground Demons have appeared! We must leave the village at once!" Ye Qin announced loudly, jumping down from the watchtower.
"What? Underground Demons?"
"How is that possible? Underground Demons haven't been seen on the surface for decades! Why would they come to our village? Ye Qin, you may be the village's top expert, but this joke is going too far!"
"I'm still stewing my soup! I'm going back."
No one believed Ye Qin.
Ye Qin looked anxious. "I'm telling the truth! Everyone, prepare to leave immediately! If we wait for the Underground Demons to arrive, it'll be too late!"
"Ye Qin isn't lying! We were just attacked by Underground Demons. If these young heroes hadn't arrived in time, we wouldn't have made it back!" The middle-aged martial artist who had been standing beside Luo Feng stepped forward.
"Students from the four great academies of Flowing Cloud Region?"
"Could it be true?"
Seeing the academy uniforms on Luo Feng, He Qin, and the others, hesitation flickered in the villagers' eyes, but a seed of belief began to sprout in their hearts.
Just then, a young man clad in python-skin armor, his gaze cold and sinister, stepped out from the crowd.
"The Village Chief..."
"The Village Chief is here."
"Village Chief, Ye Qin says Underground Demons are nearby. Should we evacuate?"
Seeing the young man, the nearby villagers quickly made way.
The python-skinned young man walked up to Ye Qin, a sneer on his lips. He said, "Underground Demons? Ye Qin, I think you're just bitter about not becoming Village Chief, so you fabricated this story to make fools of us all, didn't you?"
"Gao Shi, our personal grievances are one thing," Ye Qin said, suppressing her anger. "But the appearance of Underground Demons is a serious matter. If we don't leave now, we won't be able to escape when the time comes!"
The python-skinned youth sneered, "Ye Qin, you've lost your mind. I haven't."
Turning around, the python-skinned youth ordered, "Everyone, disperse! Pay them no mind."
"Gao Shi, you're going too far!"
A young martial artist from Ye Qin's group stepped forward, glaring coldly at the python-skinned youth. He declared, "The day before the selection contest for Village Chief, I saw you sneaking around Ye Qin's house! I investigated later and found her drinking water was tainted with Dispersion Powder. You were behind it, weren't you! If Ye Qin hadn't stopped me, I would have exposed you long ago!"
An uproar went through the crowd.
"How shameless! To resort to such despicable tactics!"
Bing Ruolan's delicate eyebrows knitted slightly. Dispersion Powder... a poison that, while not lethal, severely hampers a martial artist's Yuan Qi flow, drastically reducing their strength.
Luo Feng nodded, observing coldly.
Ye Qin is at the mid-stage of the eighth level of the Meridian Wheel Realm, while this python-skinned youth has only just reached the eighth level. In a fair fight, Ye Qin couldn't possibly lose.
"They're all mad! Drive them out of the village!" The python-skinned youth's face flushed crimson. Glaring viciously at Ye Qin and her companions, he roared.
The villagers looked conflicted. Ye Qin had done much for the village, and they were grateful. But the python-skinned youth was the Village Chief; his orders couldn't simply be ignored.
"Have the villagers evacuate immediately."
Just as everyone hesitated, unsure what to do, a voice suddenly cut in.
Luo Feng stepped beside Ye Qin. Looking at the python-skinned youth, he said coldly, "Return the position of Village Chief to Ye Qin at once. Then, get out of my sight. I'll spare your life."
The python-skinned youth froze, his face turning ashen. This is Snow Rock Village! I am the Village Chief! How dare someone speak to me like this?
Seeing Luo Feng was merely a teenager of fifteen or sixteen, the python-skinned youth sneered, "Who do you think you are? How dare you—"
SLASH!
Before he could finish his sentence, a flash of saber light illuminated the surroundings.
The python-skinned youth's voice died in his throat. A crimson line appeared on his neck, and blood gushed out.
"You..."
Eyes wide with disbelief, the python-skinned youth clutched his throat, staring at Luo Feng as he slumped to the ground, dead.
An eerie silence descended. The villagers stared in horror. The Village Chief, an eighth-level Meridian Wheel Realm martial artist, one of the strongest in the village, killed in a single strike!
BOOM!
With a stomp that cracked the earth beneath him, Luo Feng rose into the air, his gaze as cold as a saber's edge as he swept it over the crowd.
"If you don't want to die, evacuate with Ye Qin immediately!"
"Aerial Flight! He's a Spiritual Rotation Realm expert!"
Those villagers with some martial knowledge stared at Luo Feng, their eyes filled with a mixture of terror, shock, and above all, awe and reverence.
Many had never witnessed a Spiritual Rotation Realm expert in their entire lives.
