Married To The Mad Vampire Lord-Chapter 88: Punishment for the traitor_Part 2
Chapter 88: Punishment for the traitor_Part 2
"Do you know what I hate most, slave? People who act innocent when they are not. I despise them. If you don’t want me to rip your head apart, start talking."
Rohan said calmly, but there was nothing calm about him, if it wasn’t for his bunny, this useless human would never have any access to live in his castle and under his roof. People like her disgust him.
The rest of the servants in the hall all stepped back, watching in horror as Farrah was being strangled, none of them could say anything, not even Rav, who only watched from the side, but Belle could not watch any longer. She went forward and wrapped her fingers around the wrist of the hand he was using to strangle her maidservant.
"Let her go! She did not do anything wrong! It was my fault, I should be the one you are strangling, not an innocent girl," she said pleadingly as she tried to pry his hand away from around the girl’s neck, but she might as well go and try to bend an iron with all that strength, because Rohan was an unmovable force as he stared at her with an expression Belle could not read.
Her eyes welled with tears, and as the tears fell, his other free hand moved swiftly and cut it off before it even rolled down her cheeks. He did that without letting go of Farrah, who was becoming weak in his grip.
"She doesn’t deserve your tears, Isa. I once told you about trusting people. In a world we live in, you shouldn’t give all your heart into trusting."
"But she did nothing wrong..." Belle wrapped her arm around his strong bicep and laid her head on it. "Please let her go, I will never attempt to leave again. I swear."
Rohan released Farrah—not because his wife was pleading for the girl’s life, but because he did not like seeing that liquid in her eyes.
He grabbed a napkin from the table behind him, and with slow, careful movement, he dragged and dabbed it against Belle’s wet cheeks as he said in a low voice, "I don’t let traitors live, and most definitely not one who is a threat to your life."
Before Belle could digest his words, Rohan had turned back to Farrah, who was coughing and trying to catch her breath on the floor of the hall while at the same time she was crawling behind Belle’s skirt as if to hide from Rohan.
"Help me..." She grabbed Belle’s skirt at the same time Rohan hurled her up to her feet by grabbing her arm roughly.
Belle hurried to interfere again, but Rohan had already locked eyes with the girl. Every muscle in Farrah’s body went still, her face frozen as she stared back at him, only her eyes widening in horror while the rest of her limbs remained immobilized.
"Show your true colors without hiding behind a mask of innocence," came Rohan’s command, and to Belle and everyone’s astonishment, Farrah’s innocent-looking face disappeared and she let out a laughter that chilled Belle as those green eyes of hers that turned in her direction were hateful and filled with resentment.
"I have hated you since the first day I met you, Isabelle. I had to put up with serving an ugly woman with a hideous scar like you. Did you know how it felt like to be beautiful and yet be reduced to a slave?" Farrah scoffed, finally showing all the hate she had been holding in her heart ever since she met this woman.
Farrah was beautiful, and it was just right that she became noticed by the mad lord, who she had fallen for ever since she first saw him. She had grown up in the land of the vampires, and her biggest dream was to marry one of the vampires and, if possible, get turned into their kind, as they had the upper hands compared to the humans.
She had no desire to mingle or be with her kind. She wanted to be among the night creatures and be respected and have everything she had always wanted. Wealth and power.
She’d heard so much about the mad lord and had expected to meet a man hideous and unsightly, but she’d met a handsome man with a face charming enough to make her start dreaming at night to be his wife.
She’d seen herself being in his arms like this wife of his was. She had even pictured herself falling ill, and him acting as her doctor, feeding her medicine through his mouth—just as she had secretly watched him do through the keyhole.
She had secretly wished he would notice her and see how his wife paled in comparison to her own beauty, but not once had he looked in her direction.
To make things worse, the day his wife had been sick, he had pushed her away and treated her like trash.
The more he ignored her, the more her hate for Belle mounted up. How dare he like that scarred-faced woman over her beautiful self?
She continued to speak everything in her heart under the influence of Rohan’s power.
"I despise you, Isabelle! With everything in me, I wanted you dead and gone from Rohan’s life. I am more beautiful than you are and I should be in your place. You are too innocent and too stupid for anyone to like, not to mention a vampire."
Belle couldn’t move, she couldn’t breathe properly at the intense emotions that overwhelmed her into numbness. She stared at Farrah, a girl she had taken as a friend and trusted.
"You thought I wanted the good for you?" Farrah scoffed. "Bitch. I wanted you dead and gone so I can have your husband. I even went to meet a witch and gave her an infant in exchange for her to kill you for me, but the darn witch gave me a charm which disappeared from where I hid it when I went to get it to put it under your pillow to kill you. I was so angry that I lost it that I desperately searched for another way to end you."
"But who would have thought that stupid man would dare come here looking for you? Did you know he did not want to tell me who he was at first and did not trust me enough to hand me his letter until I told him I am your maidservant who you treated as a sister. He smiled and said ’that was more like Belle. She’s kind.’ He then gave it to me, and I also told him that his lordship is being cruel to you and he needed to do something to help you get away. That was why he added to his letter for you to meet him at the inn because I promised him I would get you there."
Farrah sighed and then laughed mockingly.
"I even gave you the wrong map to the direction I knew vampires feed on humans who wandered there. I wanted you to die one way or the other, and just to make sure my plan wouldn’t fail this time around, I told his lordship you planned to elope with your lover even though I tried to stop you. I tried to add as much salt to the wound to get him to kill you himself if it turned out the vampires didn’t kill you."
"I did not expect to see you again because I had begun to put claim on everything you owned. I laid on your bed and tried on your things, and you know what? They suit me better than they ever did your curveless body and average face. I can’t help but wonder what he saw in you that he keeps you and—"
Rohan cut her off by grabbing her neck.
"You’ve said enough shit, slave. And about what I saw in her, I saw what you and every other person lack, a pure heart," he snarled, lifting her off her feet by her neck, and this time, Belle made no attempt to stop it because she was too numb by the betrayal and everything Farrah had said to make her move.
Her chest felt tight, so tight she couldn’t swallow nor breath. Her throat burned just like her eyes.
Belle was only slightly jolted when her eyes caught sight of a movement from the side. It was that same cloaked figure with a faceless hooded head, but she was too numb to even feel fear for it until Rohan’s gloved hand swiftly dipped into Farrah’s chest and with one yank, her heart was in his hand.
Her lifeless body was tossed aside.
"No traitor shall live in my castle," Rohan remarked as his intense eyes stayed on the slightly beating treasure in his palm, for a moment forgetting his wife was still there until he heard her inhale sharply and heard the swishing of her gown as she turned away and began to run up the stairs, almost losing her balance but she didn’t stop and continued to run.
Rohan’s jaw clenched.
"My wife is upset. Rav, burn the body and put the treasure away for me."
