Married To The Mad Vampire Lord-Chapter 194: Love
Chapter 194: Love
Belle and Rohan toured the manor, and Belle was finally able to see every part of their new house. It had seven bed chambers and two libraries, and after they toured the manor, Rohan left her after saying he needed to speak with Rav.
By the time he came back, she had bathed, and unable to hold herself back from the exhaustion that still lingered in her bones, Belle fell asleep on the bed. Perhaps her body had not gotten all the rest she needed, and when Rohan returned to find her sleeping soundly, he did not disturb her and let her be while he went to look out the closed glass window to see the outside, where snow had covered most part of the ground and coaches were passing on the streets, carrying people.
He stood there for a long time, lost in thoughts with a suspended glass of blood wine Rav had given him in hand. His thoughts were mostly about how to keep his wife safe in this land without her getting entangled in any of the battle for the throne.
Though he wasn’t the rightful heir to the throne even when the late king was alive, because of the way he had been sired, Rohan had already set his mind on taking that seat when the late king had given orders to get him eliminated.
However, before he would make that attempt, he needed to make certain he wasn’t bringing harm to his woman in the process, which was why he needed a good plan before ever considering going back to Nightbrook. For now, he would lay low in this land and enjoy his free days with nothing to worry about and with no threat of the asylum or anything looming on him like a cloud.
And the first thing he planned to do was to make every day a memorable day for the woman sleeping peacefully on the bed behind him. Now he had nothing to hide from her. She knew many of his dark secrets—except perhaps one: that he loved her more than anything in this world. He had loved her even before he knew it was love.
His so-called parents had twisted the meaning of love to him when he was a naive little boy who looked up to them. They had made him believe that every little bit of their cruelty was because they loved him. And the worst part was that he had believed every little one of their twisted lies about loving him.
He hadn’t known the meaning of love until now. Until she showed him. Rohan turned away from the glass, winter-fogged window and walked back to his wife and sat himself at the bedside, watching her sleep on the bed.
Her both palms were clasped together, and she laid her ear against them on the soft pillow, breathing softly through her mouth as she seemed to have caught a cold and her nose had become stuffy. Her body wasn’t used to the winter, and he had made sure the fireplace was constantly filled with more logs of wood and the windows closed tight.
Her gold blonde hair was hidden inside the knitted winter cap he had made her wear this afternoon when he noticed how much she was sneezing, and her small button nose was slightly pink and her freckled cheeks were reddish. And though her cheeks weren’t as full as he remembered, she still looked adorable sleeping. freēwēbnovel.com
Unable to help himself, he reached his hand out and slowly caressed her cheeks with his fingers. This petite little woman had shown him what love truly was. Her actions alone were enough. She had gone through hellish experiences for his sake.
He had always thought humans to be fragile and weak, but his little bunny had proven him wrong. His Isabelle was not a weak woman.
He had known that since the day he stayed with her in that cave many years ago. Despite the blood pouring from the gash he had gotten from the rogues on his arm, she had not flinched. She wasn’t frightened. Instead, she had tied the piece of cloth exactly where he told her to, her hands trembling but steady with determination.
At that time, the rogue had bitten him, but before their venom could enter his system and further corrupt his already tainted blood, he had torn open the skin of his arm and forced himself to bleed out the poison. The sight of him soaked in blood had terrified her, he remembered how her wide eyes had filled with tears, but still, she hadn’t run away. She had stayed. That was the moment he began to see her strength.
Rohan leaned down and carefully pressed his lips against hers, lingering for a breath before pulling back. Warmth bloomed from his heart, spreading like fire through his chest and down to his loins. He had missed her, gods, he had missed her in every way a man could miss the woman who belonged to him.
And if it were even remotely possible, he would have climbed into the bed right now, pulled her against him, and held her until every part of her warmth sank into his bones. He wanted to bask not only in the love she gave so freely, but in the sheer presence of her. Her scent. Her softness. Her breath. Her everything.
He got up and left her to sleep before he lose his fragile control and disturb her rest.
He walked out of the chamber and closed the door softly behind him. Then he walked down the polished floor of the corridor and made his way towards the chamber Rav was staying in. He opened the door without bothering to knock, and Rav, who was looking out the window, turned at the sound of the opened door.
"My Lord," he bowed in greeting.
"Do you have it?" Rohan asked, and Rav hurriedly retrieved a single cigar from his pocket and handed it to him. He hadn’t forgotten to carry it with him from Nightbrook, and Rohan had told him to find one for him when he came to him a while ago.
"Now, are you willing to tell me who you gave the link to?" Rohan asked as he made his way and sat himself on a chair before the fireplace. Then, bending, he touched the tip of the cigar to the flame and brought it towards his lips before turning to look at Rav patiently.
Rav shifted from one foot to the other, uncomfortable under his master’s eyes, before he rubbed his hands together and began to speak. "I didn’t know you would feel it."
Rohan let out a dry laugh. "I am your maker. Have you forgotten that so soon? I made you into a vampire and gave you a link to my mind, so of course I will know if you become another person’s maker. Who is it, and why did you turn someone into our kind?" he asked with a tilt of his head as he relaxed on the wingback chair, taking a long drag of his cigar and waiting to hear who Rav had turned into a vampire.
It was completely impossible for a turned vampire to turn another human into a vampire, but Rav had been turned by a special kind that gave him the advantage of having the ability to turn another.
Rohan had felt another person sharing a link with Rav the moment he woke up. Though it hadn’t been clear, he had known the man had done something he shouldn’t have. Rohan had not questioned him when he came a while ago because he thought Rav would tell him himself, but it seemed the man was planning on keeping that part a secret.
