Chapter 87: Pest

Stefan was enraged by Cyrus’ appearance, which was ruffled and almost undressed, as he imagined Cyrus touching Sage.

He trembled and pointed angrily at Cyrus. "You know I am not afraid to say what I think. You are not permitted to touch her simply because you are married to her. Your fifth hands have killed millions of people!" Stefan yelled, and Cyrus’ eyes sharpened dangerously into their silver reptile-like form.

The lords all murmured in confusion and Arthur, who stood beside Cyrus, blinked rapidly because he hadn’t expected the sudden drama.

"What are you talking about Lord Stefan?" Lord Gael Inston of the north Antica, Lisaeii asked puzzledly.

He had an innocent face that could easily fool anyone, shining brown hair, and pure black eyes that revealed his deviousness.

"Yes, how could the queen be your sister? According to what I have heard, she is a fire mage, the only fire mage to be exact." Bronx spoke as he stroked his slightly rough beards.

Except for Stefan, the lords had not witnessed the earlier battle between Cyrus and Sage, but they had heard about it from the guards and maids.

Stefan sighed, frustrated. "Take care of your businesses! She is my sister, and that is all you will ever know about her!" He yelled.

"What?!" Sage’s voice echoed throughout the main hall, drawing everyone’s attention to her, and she appeared stunned.

"Bad timing," Cyrus sighed, shaking his head.

"Uh oh," Arthur nervously laughed.

"How intriguing," chuckled Bronx.

"She is even more beautiful in person," Marius said of Sage.

Stefan rushed over to Sage, his face flushed. "Are you okay?" He inquired, concerned.

He hadn’t expected her to appear out of nowhere; it was all Cyrus’ fault for infuriating him to the point of revealing that she was his sister. It was something he had never intended to do, especially not at that time.

"Reckless, foolish, and annoying," Cyrus mumbled, and Stefan turned slowly to see Cyrus standing behind him.

"This is Lord Stefan Adrelean of Anitca’s south side, Elisium, and your elder brother, Parrot." Cyrus casually introduced.

There was tension in the air, but the way he introduced Sage to Stefan made it seem as if everything was normal.

The lords were as surprised as Sage and Stefan.

"M...my brother?" Sage asked stiffly, her gaze fixed on Stefan, who was nervously avoiding her gaze.

Was she supposed to hug him?

She wanted to scream!

Her brother had been right in front of her the entire time?

"I...I need some alone time," Sage said tensely as she turned away.

Cyrus appeared in front of her, smiling creepily. "Do not tell me you are going to run away from your brother," he taunted, and Sage frowned deeply.

"I see no reason to joke here," she growled.

Cyrus’ sudden departure from the room after Arthur informed him that the lords required his presence raised her suspicions.

Did he leave to resist her or to use the opportunity to enrage Stefan to reveal the truth?

Cyrus didn’t even bother to button his shirt or put on his shoes. His hair was ruffled, so everyone in the room assumed they were doing something before he arrived.

Sage sighed.

Cyrus was unpredictable, and it was clear that he knew Stefan was her brother.

"Tell them to leave." Sage told Cyrus, took a step towards him, and began buttoning his shirt.

Cyrus’ creepy grin widened. How impressive was his parrot’s calm reaction.

"Now!" Sage raised her voice, her eyes became fierce, and she buttoned the last button, leaving two unbuttoned.

Cyrus smirked, his gaze fixed on Sage’s angry eyes.

"Leave!" He hissed authoritatively.

The lords all stood up and exited the main hall without saying anything, and Arthur followed nervously.

Sage gently pressed her hand against Cyrus’ brow and pushed his hair back. "Tell me everything." She said sternly and took her hand away, but he caught her wrist and placed her fingers on his lips.

"All right, my lovely parrot," he said softly, kissing her fingers.

Sage gasped, her face flushed, and her eyes widened.

"Wait, what are you doing?" She jerked her hand away, but he tightened his grip on her wrist.

"You told me to tell them to leave, and I did, and they are all gone now." He wrapped his arm around her waist, and drew her close to him. "You want us to pick up where we left off, don’t you?" He caressed his nose against hers, whispering.

Sage couldn’t believe what she was hearing! "Cyrus!" Stefan, who was nearby, cleared his throat loudly as she yelled.

"I am here." Stefan’s voice was stiff.

Cyrus let go of Sage, and they both turned to face him.

"Hello there," Stefan said as he waved at her.

Sage sighed deeply, approached him, and stared at him for a while. Her gaze pierced his, as if searching his soul.

Sage’s eyes welled up with tears as their emerald eyes twinkled at the same time.

"Are you my biological brother?" Sage inquired slowly, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"I..." Stefan sighed deeply after a tense pause. "I didn’t expect you to find out in this way."

"How come it is a secret?" Sage inquired, wiping away her tears and sniffing. "Why is everything hidden?" Sage yelled and turned to face Cyrus, who was wearing a straight face.

"It is supposed to be a secret." Cyrus stated firmly.

"What is your role in this? Why are you aware of this?" She inquired, perplexed.

"He is a thorn in our side, Sage; he is a pest!" Stefan exploded.

Cyrus shook his head, as if he had heard a bad joke. "Our?" He laughed.

Sage returned Stefan’s gaze, sensing the mounting tension between him and Cyrus.

"You didn’t deny being a pest!" Stefan yelled.

"I am her pest, not your pest," Cyrus hissed dangerously.

"You are a calamity! Unfortunate!" Stefan screamed at the top of his lungs.

"Do not be disrespectful to me! I have been keeping you alive because of Sage, but if you push me, I will kill you!" Cyrus growled angrily, rushed up to Stefan, grabbed his neck, and lifted him off the ground.
