Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 84: The paintings
"You are not permitted to enter." Standing in front of the room’s door, Ashton said sternly.
Sage was enraged and stood in front of him. Cyrus had been taken to the room and was locked in with his guardians. She couldn’t stay away knowing how pale he looked and how confused he was before passing out.
"How come I can’t?" She demanded angrily of Ashton.
"Because Cyrus does not require the services of a healer to be healed. He either heals himself or is healed by his guardians." Ashton responded with a solemn expression.
"All right... I still want to go in." Sage stated, unconcerned about Ashton’s words.
Ashton exhaled deeply. "Should I advise you, little mage?" Ashton inquired, his face sly.
She had forgotten Ashton was a demon. Cunning creatures.
"I do not need your advice." Sage became enraged.
"You are a beauty, powerful, and stupid because of the secrets buried in your life." He paused, took a step closer to her, and leaned in close to her, while Sage frowned in disgust. "You shouldn’t be even more stupid and fall in love with Cyrus Dragos. That ice dragon wants to kill you, and he almost did earlier, here you are crying because he passed out."
Sage’s face became solemn.
She took a step back and nodded before walking away without saying anything.
She was depressed as she walked down the hall.
Just when things seemed to be settling down, something drastic would occur that would change everything.
She didn’t know what to do, but she desperately wanted to solve everything so she could live a normal life... with Cyrus, but she knew that wasn’t going to happen.
In his dark state, Cyrus was very different. It was as if he didn’t recognise her at all, but only as an arrogant parrot and his pawn to crush and drain of life force.
Her heart was squeezing and her mind was jumbled.
Dexter and Lianna were both in the dungeon. Why didn’t he kill them?
She reflected deeply on it and realised that their lives were still a little resourceful, they knew so many things that she wanted to know.
"I have to find that dungeon." Sage muttered.
She looked around and came to a halt, realising she was lost. It was a different hallway, darker and creepier. It appeared to be a seldom visited location.
Sage sighed.
She was so preoccupied with her thoughts that she didn’t notice when she was diverted to another part of the castle.
The castle was massive; anyone unfamiliar with it could easily get lost in it, and she hadn’t even been given a tour of it.
"Pathetic," she grumbled, her eyes widening with interest.
Her fingers caressed the walls. "Dusty." She coughed as she looked up at the covered paintings on the walls.
"W..what?" She stuttered, remembering seeing something similar in the mansion in Empire City.
She didn’t get a tour and didn’t go around the mansion, but she thought she saw some covered paintings.
"Hmm, suspicious." She muttered, reached out her hands, and blasting fire on the drape that covered the painting.
It burned up instantly, leaving the painting untouched. Sage’s jaw dropped when she saw what she saw.
It was her... she appeared to be extremely fierce, her eyes fiery red, her hair swaying, fire surrounding her, and she was dressed in golden armour.
Sage trembled and took a step back, blinking rapidly.
"What the hell is this?" She couldn’t believe her eyes, and worst of all, the painting appeared to be brand new, as if it had been freshly painted.
She blasted all the drapes covering the other paintings on the wall.
"Help!" A familiar voice rang out from the other end of the hall.
Sage gasped, looking ahead. "Mirabella?!" She called in surprise.
A loud banging on a door was heard, followed by the words, "Get me out of here!" Mirabella screamed.
Sage dashed in the direction of the screams, stopping in front of a door. She moved closer when a powerful force pushed her back, causing her to land hard on the wall opposite the door.
"Is the door locked?" She screamed angrily.
Fear increased the volume of the banging. "Help!" Mirabella yelled.
What exactly was she doing in there? Why was she there? Why was the door locked?
Sage took slow steps towards the door, her fingers resting on the air, revealing a black liquid force. Fire ignited on her fingers like a candle, and soon her entire arm was engulfed in flames. Her hand sank into the liquid as she gripped the door’s handle and as she opened the door, her face scrunched.
The force vanished instantly, as did the fire on her arm. Sage was exhausted and wiped the small amount of sweat from her brow.
"Good grieve!" She exhaled forcefully.
The door swung open, revealing Mirabella, who appeared insane. Her hair was unkempt and tangled, she had dark circles under her eyes, and she appeared sickly.
She dashed out the door and hugged Sage tightly. "Th.. thank you." She stumbled and trembled.
Sage blinked quickly in confusion. "What exactly are you doing here?" Mirabella broke the hug when she asked.
Mirabella frowned deeply and shrugged her shoulders in discomfort. "I still cannot believe I hugged you." She shrugged again and spoke with disgust.
Sage sighed and rolled her eyes. "Please answer my question." She snarled.
"That stupid demon!" Mirabella screamed angrily and swallowed forcefully.
She appeared to have been in that room for quite some time.
"Oh?" Sage was even more perplexed.
Why would Ashton confine Mirabella in such a space?
"This.." Mirabella looked around the hallway, stunned.
"What exactly is this place?" Sage inquired, perplexed.
"It used to be Cyrus’ part of the castle. He left, and no one has crossed to this part of the castle ever since." Mirabella replied.
Sage was taken aback.
He was supposed to have his private quarters in the castle as a king, so why did he leave and why was that painting of her there?
"Let’s get out of here!" Mirabella abruptly said and grabbed her arm. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Sage followed, and when they returned to the section of the hallway with the paintings, Sage’s heart nearly burst. Mirabella sensed her shock and halted her steps.
Sage’s gaze was drawn to the paintings above. Mirabella felt as if she had been struck in the heart after following Sage’s gaze.
Sage swallowed hard and held her breath.
"Those paintingi..ngs!" Mirabella stuttered in disbelief.
"They are all portraits of me."
