Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 77: You lied?
The library’s scent filled her nose as soon as she stepped in, and it was relaxing and enticing; she felt like she could sleep there.
There was no sign of Cyrus anywhere, and then she heard a snarl from behind her. She turned to see the nine-tailed fox, who glared at her before walking into the library.
He came to a halt and looked back at her as if to say, "Are you going to sleep there? Follow me." Then he turned away and made his way between two large shelves.
Sage followed him after receiving the cue. As she walked by, she smiled and traced her fingers along the book covers as she pondered the whereabouts of Cyrus. Didn’t he say that she should meet him at the library?
He was jealous, Sage recalled, believing that she and Arthur were having a relationship. It was quite surprising and amusing.
Soon, she and Snowflake arrived at the far end of the library, where they stood in front of a handleless door with a circle and a snowflake carved into it.
Sage curiously placed her hand on the carving, trailing her fingers.
"I saw this in my memory," she muttered, recalling that the doors of the mansion where Aurora’s ice sculpture was had the same carving.
She looked at Snowflake, who was now staring at her, and asked, "Is Cyrus behind this door?"
The door suddenly moved, causing her to flinch in surprise and take a few steps backwards.
The door was pushed open, revealing Cyrus with a glum expression and what appeared to be a study behind him. Was that a hidden study room?
Cyrus walked out, holding a scroll, and the door closed behind him. "Here," he said, pointing the scroll at her face.
"What is that room for?" Sage inquired while holding the scroll.
"I expect you to ask what the scroll is," Cyrus said lightly, still clutching the scroll.
"I will do it once you tell me what that room is for." Sage looked at him suspiciously.
"What if I told you that I didn’t build this mansion, but that it was the only building left in Empire City?" Sage frowned deeply as Cyrus suddenly revealed himself.
"You lied?" She was enraged and growled angrily.
"Technically, no." Cyrus yanked the scroll hard, and Sage, who had tightened her grip on it, was yanked along with it but released it before Cyrus could hold her.
Cyrus continued, smirking at Sage, who had a deep frown on her face. "It was on the verge of collapse. It was simply renovated by me."
"Isn’t this a Dragos family property?" Sage inquired, perplexed.
"Are you interested in family? Yes, it is, which is why the library is still standing." Cyrus responded flatly.
"What can I expect from you?" Sage asked angrily, walked closer to him, and took the scroll from him. "There are more lies." She hissed and turned away.
"You haven’t asked what the scroll is for or what it is about, parrot." Cyrus abruptly said, causing her to come to a halt. He made no apologies for his actions.
"I will find out for myself." Sage’s voice was hard and disappointed. "There are a lot of things I will have to figure out for myself." She stormed away, clutching the scroll in her hands.
Cyrus’ expression softened as Sage faded from view. His silver eyes flashed with a glint of guilt that vanished as quickly as it appeared.
"Did you enjoy your meal?" Cyrus inquired, looking at the nine-tailed fox, who sat proudly, his nine tails swaying ghostly.
Cyrus’ lips twitched as Snowflake looked at him with his head tilted to the side. "She is curious. From a parrot to a cat." He said this while chuckling sinisterly, his eyes blazing with thick black.
...
Sage entered the room, dashed to the wardrobe, removed a coat, and put it on. She then took a furry thick blue bag and walked over to the table where Megan’s books were kept.
She put the books first, then the scroll. She inhaled deeply, cracked her fingers with a determined expression, and grunted as she carried the bag.
She walked to the door and gasped in terror when she saw Venus and Ares standing at the door, staring at her as if she had kicked one of them.
"Um... H...Hello," she stammered nervously, swallowing hard.
Sage wasn’t sure if she wanted to call her life unfortunate. Her entire life turned out to be a lie, and she could have continued living a lie a lie and would have been killed in that lie if she hadn’t married the ice dragon.
She narrowed her eyes at the demon panthers, clutching the heavy bag tightly.
"You do not scare me, and nothing or no one will scare me." She told them confidently. "I will find my family, destroy those Statkus mages, and ensure that Cyrus does not kill me but wishes to remain with me." She finished her sentence with a deep inhale.
"I am not weak; I have never been weak, so why should I become weak now?" Her eyes flashed a fiery red as she spoke, and she boldly walked out of the room and between the panthers.
While Arthur was walking towards the mansion’s door, she noticed Cyrus standing at the bottom of the stairs, waiting for her.
She wasn’t grunting anymore, and when she stood in front of Cyrus, she took a step back when he extended his hands towards her and said, "Give it here."
"No, I can carry them myself, and as you can see, I am already doing it," She refused, scoffed, and walked down the stairs, past him, towards Arthur, who opened the door.
"Sage, that looks heavy; can I assist?" Arthur inquired with a cheerful expression and tone.
"No, please." Sage smiled and walked away.
"Alright then," Arthur said, shrugging his shoulders and following her.
Cyrus cocked his head to the side, proudly smiling. "Interesting as usual, parrot," he murmured, looking up at Venus and Ares on the stairs.
