Chapter 214: Poor soul

The weather had dramatically changed. The clouds had become darker and angrier than before, completely blocking the view of the blue sky. As the wind grew bitterly cold, it appeared as if lightning might strike from those clouds.

A carriage had just arrived in front of the mansion.

River, Katherine, and Ashton had already emerged from the mansion, staring at the carriage. River smirked in amusement as he noticed Ashton’s eyes light up with excitement.

Cyrus, Sage, and Arthur arrived, and Cyrus didn’t bother to hide the blackened rage on his face.

"What’s the matter, Cyrus?" River inquired of the enraged-looking ice dragon.

Arthur was standing behind Sage the entire time, looking terrified.

"Did something happened? At this rate, you will trigger a snowstorm." River muttered and rolled his eyes, irritated that Cyrus was not responding to him.

Stefan walked into the carriage, which had been opened by a guard, with a straight face.

Cyrus’ eyes widened in murderous rage at the Lord, and the clouds darkened even more.

’Calm down, Cyrus.’ Sage laughed through their mind link, and he softened his gaze on her, eliciting a teasing smile from her.

’No,’ he grumbled through their mind link as he moved his menacingly murderous gaze to Arthur, who was hoping to vanish.

He hadn’t meant to interrupt them; Ashton had pressed him to call them no matter what, and the demon had even threatened him.

"Cunning demon," he muttered under his breath, realizing Ashton had probably predicted it and had only pushed him to interrupt them for his own amusement.

Arthur averted his gaze and inhaled deeply after seeing Cyrus’ menacing eyes and the way his aura began to spill with rage.

Sage, on the other hand, ran all the way to her brother and hugged him tightly. Stefan, surprised, returned the hug and chuckled with delight.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, pulling away from the hug.

"To keep you safe from him." Sage let out a deep sigh as Stefan replied, referring to Cyrus’.

"We need to talk." Stefan was intimidated by her serious expression, which caused him to blink quickly and nod slowly.

"Alright." He smirked and whispered, and his gaze met the demon’s excited gaze as she pulled him by the arm and led him away from the carriage and to the far side of the mansion.

When they came to a halt, Sage sighed and let go of Stefan’s arm, then crossed her arms on her just and narrowed her eyes at him. "Why didn’t you tell me you had abilities?" She cocked her brow.

Stefan was surprised and nervously scratched the back of his neck. "The ice dragon told you." He sighed deeply and mumbled. "I didn’t think it was necessary because I don’t use my powers very often." He responded. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Cyrus told me you were going to teach me." Sage lowered her arms and extended a hand to him. "You spent more time with your mother than I did." Her voice was low, and a small fire flame appeared above her palm.

"Sage.."

"I’m not mad at you; in fact, I’m glad you have powers, but I also understand why you don’t use them." As she spoke, a faint smile appeared on her lips, and as she closed her palm, the flame vanished. "Your dark heart. The more you use your abilities, the faster you will turn into a mindless beast."

Stefan’s face fell and he nodded slowly, trying to force a smile from his lips. "I will teach you without using my abilities. It is conceivable."

Sage’s gaze was fixed on him. "What brings you here?" She had to inquire.

"Something happened in the castle... something Cyrus must be unaware of." Stefan started.

"Cyrus?"

"I.."

"No!" Sage exclaimed in hushed tones. If it was something Cyrus wasn’t supposed to know, Stefan couldn’t tell her because Cyrus would undoubtedly find out. "There is no need." Stefan looked at her puzzledly as she sighed.

"You don’t want to know?"

"Just solve the problem." Sage smiled and nodded slowly, still perplexed.

"There is a demon involved." Stefan muttered something.

"Then question him." Sage giggled and he nodded slowly, his face flushed.

"How come this conversation is taking so long?" Cyrus materialized between them, frowning deeply.

Stefan yelled out, startled, and landed on his back on the tree behind him. A full gush of snow fell on his head, and he stood still, eliciting Cyrus’ amused smile.

"Poor soul," He tsked and took Sage’s hand in his.

Sage frowned at him, but he only narrowed his eyes and moved his gaze away from her. She couldn’t believe he was so irritated by their interruption.

Stefan brushed the snow from his head and glared at Cyrus, who glared back, and the temperatures dropped even more, causing Sage to shiver.

Cyrus sighed deeply to calm himself, and the temperature rose slightly before releasing her hand so she could warm herself.

"Eish! The cold tension. So inconvenient." As he, River, Katherine, and Arthur approached the scene, Ashton grumbled at Cyrus.

"Reagan and the other chief warriors will arrive today." Sage sighed deeply as Arthur reported.

"I want you to stay with Sage, water mage," Cyrus abruptly warned Katherine without looking at her.

All eyes were on him, and he looked at Sage, who looked at him trying read his thoughts but it was futile.

"I will return." He smiled calmly at her, but it didn’t make her feel any better. She could tell something was wrong.

Sage reluctantly nodded and, oblivious to the eyes on them, he leaned closer to her and crashed his lips on hers, which she parted immediately, allowing his cold tongue to wrap around her hot tongue. He savored her taste, breathing steadily, and it took all of his willpower to control himself and pull away, staring into those glittering eyes that begged him to stay.

"Ashton, Stefan, stay with them." River sighed.

Katherine looked at him, surprised, and he smiled at her, wordlessly assuring her that everything was fine.

Cyrus turned away from Sage and walked away with River and Arthur.

"What exactly is going on?" Katherine inquired of Ashton, who pursed his lips and shook his head lazily.
