Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 203: Promise
"Do you think you can run away from us?" A raspy voice cackled to her hearing.
Sage gasped and opened her eyes to find herself back in the land of the sea of blood, but this time in the middle of the immobile blood sea. Her feet were bare but not sinking, and she felt as if she were standing on solid ground.
That voice sounded very familiar, and it was clear that it belonged to a Statkus mage, an elder Statkus mage.
"Who summoned me?" She asked, breathlessly, and looked around, but all she saw was the vast blood sea.
Could it be her mother?
"You can never run away from us!" The voice shrieked piercingly, and she realized where it was coming from.
When she saw a deathly pale hand emerge from the blood sea beneath her feet and grip her ankle, her heart skipped a beat and her eyes widened in terror.
Sage held her breath, unable to scream as terror engulfed her.
When she tried to lift her leg, four more hands emerged from the blood sea, completely rotten and horribly deformed, with worms coming out of them. Sage let out a terrified scream, and her heart jumped to her ribcage.
All of the hands grabbed her legs and began pulling her into the sea. Sage struggled with all her strength as her legs began to sink, but it was futile, and when she attempted to use her powers, not even a spark was could be seen.
The pulling grew stronger, and the beings beneath the sea of blood seemed to find it easy to draw her in. Sage began hyperventilating when she realized only her torso was visible.
She clenched her teeth, and her struggle intensified. She didn’t want to die here because whatever those creatures were, they weren’t taking her to her mother, and because Jorad and Inkadon were in the land of the sea of blood, she knew they were involved in what was happening to her.
She huffed and kicked her legs in the thick blood, which felt extremely disgusting, but the grip on her legs seemed to be getting stronger.
"Oh no!" She exclaimed in shock, the pull overpowering her strength. She closed her eyes and held her breath as a stronger pull drew her completely into the sea.
"SAGE!"
She felt a fearfully strong grip on her shoulders at the same time as the call, and when she opened her eyes, she was standing in front of Cyrus, who had widened eyes filled with shock and fear.
Her heart began to race, and her breathing became labored. "I... I... I knew you would save me." She stumbled and swallowed forcefully.
"Damnit!" Cyrus cursed, released her shoulders, and placed his hand on her head. Cyrus’ eyes were glowing brightly, and she was immediately enveloped in a brilliant sapphire glow.
Suddenly, a fiery glow engulfed her, completely replacing the sapphire glow. Cyrus frowned deeply as he removed his hand from her head and softly placed his on her face, closing his eyes. Sage was engulfed in a bright sapphire glow once more, prompting a small smile on his lips.
He sighed deeply and removed his hand from her face, then took a small step away from her as the glow faded on her.
Sage slowly opened her eyes, staring at Cyrus, who was now staring at her with less worry.
"What happened?" Sage asked slowly.
"I temporarily severed your connection to the land of the sea of blood. Again."
Sage nodded slowly. "You felt my fe..fear. I was being dragged into the sea of blood." She muttered then gasped in surprise. "Those hands were corpses!"
"Hmm." Cyrus nodded slowly and placed his hand on her cheek as if she were an egg he didn’t want to break. "You are mine." Sage felt her spine go numb as she noticed the darkness in those eyes and voice.
She couldn’t read his mind, but she could sense his strong possessiveness, which was terrifying because at this rate, he could kill anyone who hurt her, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
"Cyrus," she called slowly, holding his wrist with both hands. "I am fine." She muttered.
"I know, and no one will ever dare to take you away from me." His lips twitched as he spoke.
"Don’t think too hard about it; you are going to creep me out." She let go of his wrist and hugged him. "I think we should eat breakfast together." She mumbled and smiled as Cyrus stroked her hair and returned the warm embrace.
"Do you not want this delectable meal in front of you?" He inquired, teasingly.
Sage laughed at his own words. "The meal is delectable, but no."
"Very well then," Cyrus said dejectedly, making Sage laugh.
He sighed and wrapped his arms around her. "I am not sure, but I feel like I almost lost you today."
"You did not, and you will not." Sage closed her eyes and whispered.
"Promise?" Cyrus’ eyes widened as she inquired.
"What?"
"Make a promise to me."
"H..how."
"Make a promise to me, Sage," His voice was deep, and she could feel the vibration on his chest.
"I promise you, you will never lose me," she let out a heavy sigh, closing her eyes.
"I also promise that you will never lose me, not in this life or any other" As they remained in each other’s embrace, Cyrus whispered and sighed deeply.
