Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 168: Insane over you
Sage could feel the wind current becoming stronger as Arthur flew higher, and she had to close her eyes until she felt they had landed.
She could feel strong magic surging from all over the mountain, which puzzled her because she couldn’t figure out why there was a portal on the mountain and not on the lower ground.
What was the connection between this portal and Katherine and the other mages? Could it be...
"My queen, we have arrived." Freya called and informed Sage, bringing her out of her thoughts.
Sage looked at her, then swept her gaze around the mountain’s forest top. "Interesting." She jumped off Arthur while still holding the nine-tailed fox in her arms, keeping him warm in her clothes.
Freya jumped next, and Arthur reverted to his human form, stretching with a long lazy groan.
"The wind is so strong up here." He grunted as he dropped his arms and followed Freya and Sage, who were now moving slowly.
"It is, and I believe it is because of the strange magic in the air." Sage said thoughtfully, her eyes turning into their fiery form and narrowing at the direction of a space between two large trees in the forest that led into the inner part of the forest. She could feel the magic stronger there, which was most likely where the portal was.
"You two stay here." Sage told Arthur and Freya without looking at them.
"I am afraid I cannot allow that, my queen," Arthur said abruptly, his voice stern yet careful, and Sage turned to face him, her eyebrows shot up in confusion.
"And why is that?" She inquired immediately.
"His Majesty gave me strict orders not to leave you alone in danger." Arthur responded by lowering his head and avoiding her gaze.
Sage inhaled deeply, fighting the urge to curse. "This means he is already aware of my plans." She muttered and turned away from Arthur.
"Do you think I informed him?" Arthur was taken aback and raised his head.
"I am not going to point fingers." Sage sighed and looked down at the nine-tailed fox in her arms. She had gotten the hint ever since she heard Aurora’s voice earlier, and she was even more convinced when she saw Snowflake’s eyes briefly transform into the blue slit form. "Oh, Cyrus.... She sighed deeply and began to walk in the direction of the space between the trees. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Arthur and Freya silently followed behind, ready to repel an unexpected attack, but as Sage approached the space, a crystal blue forcefield suddenly appeared and harshly blasted Sage away into the air.
"Sage!" Arthur screamed in fear as his gaze followed Sage, who was being thrown into the mountain’s sky.
"My queen!" Freya screamed in shock.
Sage screamed in horror as she clutched the nine-tailed fox tightly and closed her eyes. She’d been thrown down the mountain by and was on her way to her doom.
Was this how she was going to die? No! She had a lot to do! She had so many things she needed to complete, and Cyrus... She wanted to be with him forever!
She felt her heart beating mindlessly as she got closer to the ground, and then she felt herself suddenly stop floating above the ground. She exhaled a shaky breath as tears welled up in her eyes, her gaze fixed on the hard snow-covered ground.
"Fuck no!" She cursed and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Fuck yes." She heard a familiar deep soothing voice curse with a deep growl of displeasure, and for a split second, she felt a stronghold on the hood of her coat, causing her to gasp in surprise.
He lifted her by her coat, making sure it didn’t suffocate her at the neck, and she moved closer to the snow-covered ground. It was less frightening, but Sage couldn’t stop her heart from racing.
She let out a scream as she realized she wasn’t stopping but was getting closer to the ground, but immediately felt the grip of her hood release and she fell to the ground, her face directly into the snow.
Before she could crush Snowflake, she rolled to face the dark snowy sky, exhaling heavily. She would have fallen in this exact spot if she hadn’t been alive, and she would have died.
She let go of Snowflake, who jumped off her and sat next to her, staring at her dully. She grunted and sat down, rubbing her head, wondering who had placed such a powerful barrier capable of blasting someone off the mountain.
Remembering that she had heard Cyrus’ voice and that he was the one who had saved her, her eyes widened and she stood up happily, calling out, "Cyrus!"
Cyrus appeared behind her, still in his dark state, with a deep frown on his face and his fist clenched, but that cold frown didn’t match with those cold blue slit eyes that seemed to melt in worry and relief.
Sensing someone behind her as the cold temperature increased, Sage turned to see Cyrus and smiled as if she had discovered a long-lost treasure.
"Arro.."
Sage cut him off by hugging him tightly and burying her face in his chest, murmuring, "I am scared, Cyrus." As soon as she finished speaking, he felt her tremble, and the frown on his face vanished.
He wrapped his arms around her, embracing her as he tried to calm her down. "You are alive, and I am not going to let you die like this." He spoke in hushed tones.
Sage relished their closeness, which she had missed, and wished time could simply stop and allow them to remain as they were at that moment, forever.
She couldn’t stop her heart until she heard his cold voice trying to console her, and then, like water poured on fire, her heart rate returned to normal, prompting her to hug him tightly in comfort.
"I told you not to go anywhere." Cyrus suddenly said his voice cold and released Sage who immediately pulled away from his embrace to see him wearing a deep frown though the worry in his eyes wasn’t disappearing.
"You told me not to leave Leimpia, and I am simply following your orders, Cyrus Dragos; I am still in Leimpia, aren’t I?" Sage told him with a smirk, and he suddenly grabbed her shoulders, causing her to gasp in surprise as she saw rage mixed with worry in those cold blue slit eyes.
"Do you think this is a joke? You would have died if I hadn’t been following you! Do you intend to drive me even more insane than I already am over you?" Cyrus raised his voice, his aura was so threatening that Sage was on high alert, but she was not panicked or terrified because she could sense his fear of losing her. No. It was clear in those cold eyes of his.
