Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 112: An unwanted visitor
"Sage." He smiled weakly and passed out, while the other hooded individuals vanished from view.
"Darren?!" Sage screamed in fear and lifted his head from the ground.
Her heart was racing with fear as she wondered why he appeared so frail and sick.
What had happened of him?
Who were those hooded individuals who had just vanished?
She had a strong feeling they were mages, but why had they vanished?
When the carriage arrived and Ashton saw Sage with the water mage, his smile faded and his eyes narrowed at the sick and unconscious Darren.
"Stop the carriage." He tapped Victor on the shoulder and jumped off the carriage, walking towards Sage and Darren.
Sage’s eyes were filled with concern as she looked at Ashton. "Please check to see if he is okay," she begged.
"He is, but he is weak as a result of the potions Cyrus gave him to block his powers." Ashton smirked in response. "Sergio helped him escape only for him to fall unconscious in your arms, how pitiful,"
She looked at Darren feeling sorry for him because she was the one who had caused his problems from the start, but she couldn’t help but wonder why he would suddenly appear in front of her after Sergio risked his life to help him escape.
"I want to bring him back to the castle as a friend, not as a prisoner." Sage spoke sternly to Ashton, who burst out laughing.
"You and your friends." He laughed and cleared his throat, pausing as his gaze met Sage’s angry eyes.
He scoffed, crossing his arms across his chest. "You do not scare me; he is an unwanted visitor."
.
"It is not a good idea to have his head on your laps." Sage, whose gaze was fixed on Darren, heard Ashton say.
They were back in the carriage, returning to the castle, as snow fell from the sky like rain.
Sage had Darren’s head on her laps, her fingers rubbing his forehead, warming him from the cold.
Ashton pondered Cyrus’ reaction if he saw his parrot and her friend in that situation.
He smiled as he imagined the drama that would erupt, leading him to kill the water mage and scar his parrot for life.
Ashton’s smile broadened, and he excitedly rubbed his palms together.
"Keep digging your fingers into his hair, he will heal faster, trust me." Like a motivational speaker, Ashton said to Sage.
Sage sighed deeply and pursed her lips. "Have you questioned Sergio about why he let Darren out?" She inquired abruptly.
"No, but you can question your friend if he wakes up." Ashton said casually, returning his attention to his claws.
Sage nodded slowly and turned to face Darren.
Cyrus had given him a potion that disabled his abilities? It took her by surprise.
When the carriage arrived at the castle, Ashton jumped out and dragged Darren out, while Sage, who was still inside, gently pushed him out so he would not fall to the ground.
"Oops," Ashton feigned and let go of Darren, allowing him to fall onto the snow-covered gown.
"Darren!" Sage exclaimed and jumped out of the carriage.
She grumbled as she struggled to pull Darren up, then looked at Ashton, who was smiling as she struggled to carry her friend.
"Aren’t you worry about what Cyrus will do to him if he sees him in his castle?" Ashton inquired, hoping to persuade her that he was correct.
"Darren did nothing wrong to Cyrus, and Cyrus had no reason to lock him up." Sage said angrily and rose to face the demon.
"No reason?" Ashton scoffed in shock. "Unbelievable." He finished and walked away.
"Wait!" Sage exclaimed.
"Victor will carry him in." Ashton said, pausing his steps and returning his gaze to her.
Sage turned to face her unconscious companion, then to Victor, who was checking on the horses. She sighed deeply and looked at Ashton, who appeared to be waiting for her.
"Come." Ashton insisted, turning away.
Sage rushed over to the demon and stood by his side. "You are being courteous to me. Why?" Sage inquired, perplexed.
"Oh? Because you are Cyrus’ parrot, and you melted his frozen heart without even trying, and because I have never seen him care for anyone as much as he does for you. You make him happy, which I appreciate." As they walked up the stairs towards the castle’s large open doors, Ashton smiled.
Sage was taken aback and ended up smiling. "I am glad," she muttered.
"Do not overestimate yourself." Ashton tsked and glared at the statue-like guards.
"I have no choice." Sage smiled faintly and walked into the castle, followed by Ashton, who smirked and nodded.
Sage fiddled with her fingers as she thought about Cyrus. She came to a halt and turned to face Ashton, who was staring at her with interest.
"What exactly was Cyrus up to?" She inquired, intrigued.
"How come you didn’t ask this before?" Ashton laughed. "But I am sure he’s finished now, so go to your room. I will have Ava bring you two dinners." With a genuine smile, he added.
Sage gave a nod. "I appreciate it." Then turned and walked away.
"Very welcome, Cyrus’ parrot," Ashton chuckled as he walked away from Sage and up the stairs to a hallway where he stood in front of a room.
The door was wide open, and Mirabella was seen sitting on the bed while Amelia selected a nightgown for her.
Ashton entered the room. "How come the door is open?" With a chuckle, he inquired. "The white one is ideal." He pointed to the white nightgown Amelia held showing Mirabella.
"It is inappropriate to enter a woman’s room at this time of night, Ashton Petrov," Mirabella said without looking at him.
"Sleeping at this hour is inappropriate, Mirabella Soldan," Ashton chuckled and turned away. "Badnight," He blew her a kiss goodbye and exited the room.
Mirabella sighed, stood up, and went to close the door after looking in the direction he had gone.
Relaxing her back on the closed the door, she looked at her white gown Amelia held and pointed at it. "That one."
