Married To The Dragon Prince Against My Will-Chapter 211: ALEXIS
The seven giant dragons can be seen inside a massive, rocky cavern, deep within a mountain.
The entire place feels like the inside of a giant hollowed cave. The walls are uneven and rough, shaped naturally by time and by dragon fire.
There are cracks in the rock where orange light glows, as if the mountain itself is burning from within.
The ceiling is high and dark, with smoke drifting up into it. The air is hot, filled with the smell of ash and fire.
The whole cavern trembled with heat. Fire rolled from the dragons’ mouths, rising and falling like red waves.
Smoke curled toward the high stone ceiling until the air turned hazy. The cavern felt alive, like the belly of a giant beast.
When Aria looked down at the rocky ground, she saw the two princes still lying side by side, their bodies surrounded by a ring of dragon fire. It had been days. Days of waiting for at least one of them to wake up but no response from any of them.
"This is getting worse," Aria whispered. "It is not working. Can you please do something to wake my..."
Before she finished, a sudden burst of fire shot toward her, forcing her to jump back with a shocked cry.
"How could you do that?" She glared at the dragon. "My lord would not be happy with you if he woke up and saw you hurt me."
The largest dragon shifted and lowered its head to her. Its eyes glowed like gold as he leaned his huge head close to her body.
"Ashen gave you more power than he should have. He should have left you to die years ago. How dare you even speak to us in that manner!"
"Maybe because he knew I was useful," Aria shot back. One could see her word pissed the dragons but they couldn’t hurt her, after all their masters hadn’t given the go-ahead.
"And maybe you should help wake him. It has been days. I cannot even return to check on her." she added but her last statement triggered them all.
"She?" one of the dragons rumbled. "Why not call her here and let her wake him herself?"
"She might have the power after all she is way more powerful. Only her blindness is what is stopping her."
"How dare you!" they all hollered as fire shot out of the mouth making Aria’s eyes widen.
The sound was so loud that Alexis stirred where he lay. Aria, seeing him gasped and hurried to him. "He is waking. The elder prince is waking."
She reached for him, but the moment her hand touched his arm, a shock ran through her body. Alexis opened his eyes and glared.
"Who do you think you are to touch me?" His voice was ice and his roar made Aria stumble back and bow quickly.
"I am Aria. I only wanted to help." she quickly told him.
Alexis pushed himself up slowly. His face was pale, but his gaze remained harsh. He looked at the dragons around him. "You should not waste your strength on her." One of the dragons said.
Aria’s jaw tightened, the Dragons had mocked her for days. She wanted her master awake, even if it’s only to stop their constant taunts.
But then another dragon growled at him. "Do not hurt her, or your brother will not take it kindly."
A faint smirk crossed Aria’s lips. "How long have I been unconscious?" Alexis asked still with his cold look.
"For seven days," Aria said softly.
Shock crossed his face. Seven days meant many things could have happened. Mother and son would not waste such an opportunity.
He glanced at Aria again. "Only the royals know of this place. Who are you to be here?"
Aria swallowed again before responding. "I am a Sky Griffin," she answered.
He stared at her with surprise. "A griffin. So you can change into any creature?" he asked, wondering how his brother had gotten one of the long-lost creatures in their realm, and at this to be loyal to him.
Before she replied, her body shifted. Bones cracked, wings spread, scales replaced skin, and in seconds she stood in her dragon form. The dragons around her rumbled with amusement.
"Well," one of them said, "that explains why we cannot kill her. She is important to your brother."
Alexis frowned at this, of course, he still did not find this amusing. "And Ashen’s wife? Is she to be trusted also?"
"No," a dragon replied. "She carries a kind of power that is forbidden in this realm, so she cannot be trusted."
"Good," Alexis said. "Then I know who my target is." Aria’s eyes shot up as she morphed back to her normal form and rushed in front of him.
"You cannot leave." He stated, and his eyes narrowed. "How dare you stand in my way?"
"I am sorry, but you cannot hurt her. Only your brother can decide what happens next."
His hand shot out and gripped her throat. Fire rose from his palm, hot enough to burn the air. Aria struggled for breath while the dragons only watched.
"If you interfere with me again, I will kill you before he wakes."
He threw her aside, and she hit the ground hard. Pain shot through her chest, but she forced herself up again.
"My lord is in love with his wife," she cried. "He placed me to protect her. If anything happens to her..."
A strong gust from the first dragon blew her back, cutting her words short. "Do not speak of love. He cannot love her."
Blood dripped from Aria’s lips. Alexis smirked and turned toward the stone gate.
It opened for him, and he walked out without looking back. The gate slammed shut behind him.
Aria tried to run after him, but the dragons breathed fire in warning. She stopped, heart pounding, and hurried to Ashen’s side instead, shielding his unconscious body with her own so they would not scorch her before he woke.
