Married to my nemesis-Chapter 253: No One Else
With each step she took across the street, Mia gently adjusted the strands of hair that had fallen over her face.
Her eyes were hidden behind stylish shades, and soon she slipped into the backseat of a waiting car.
As she settled in, her gaze was immediately drawn forward, where she observed a man elegantly dressed in a tuxedo paired with attire reminiscent of a marching band.
"Ma’am," the man declared.
"What exactly did you mention during our phone conversation? Did you really go ahead and act without taking my choices into account?"
"I found myself unable to devise any other course of action, ma’am," replied the baldheaded man’s attorney.
"And why is that the case? Did you suddenly muster the courage to act on your own accord?" Mia questioned, her tone unmistakably conveying her irritation.
"Ma’am, if I hadn’t immediately done exactly what they demanded, they would have grown suspicious of my actions."
"So, what exactly are you trying to convey?" Mia asked, a sharp hiss slipping from her lips.
"The attorney representing Mr. Joe told me and presented evidence proving that the bald-headed man was also an accomplice in his activities," the attorney explained, causing a frown to form on Mia’s face.
"What? How could he possibly be involved when he has been in jail this entire time?" Mia exclaimed in utter disbelief.
"I’m not sure I understand, ma’am, but he presented me with every document necessary to dispel my doubts in any manner. I was utterly stunned because the jail’s CCTV footage revealed that he had managed to escape from jail on multiple occasions."
Mia hissed in irritation, turning her gaze towards the tinted window.
She then remarked, "That scoundrel, he’s never content with anything he possesses. I’m certain he was desperate enough to carry out Vixen’s bidding. Moreover, what exactly was the crime?"
"He mentioned that Abigail is presently unaccounted for, and the investigation also suggests that Vixen could be responsible for her disappearance also my client."
As the lawyer elaborated on the situation, Mia felt a chill run through her bones, prompting her to speak up with astonishment.
"Hold on, Abigail is missing too? How can that be? They haven’t announced anything about it on the news."
"Well, Ma’am, that’s what they discovered earlier this morning. With Vixen’s case hearing commencing today, they speculated that she might have some insights to offer regarding the issue. However, it turned out that she wasn’t involved in the matter at all because of her disappearance."
Mia had a frown on her face, yet she appeared to be pondering over certain aspects of the situation that struck her as amusing.
How could that be possible?
"Isn’t it odd? How could Vixen have taken the very person I relied on in the past to carry out most of my activities, and simultaneously, there’s this news about Abigail?"
"I don’t have an answer, ma, but we need to come up with a plan of action." The attorney proposed.
"Have you considered this: why don’t we proceed to completely eradicate any evidence that Vixen might possibly leverage in this situation? By ensuring everything is wiped out, I am pretty confident it will significantly enhance the chances in my favor," Mia pondered aloud with a thoughtful tone.
"What exactly do you mean by that, ma’am?" the attorney questioned, attempting to gather more information.
"Listen, how about you focus on your legal work for now? As for your current situation, let me handle it. You might need to say goodbye to that particular client of yours, but don’t worry, I’ll find a new one for you shortly. In the meantime, I’ll transfer some funds to your account and take care of whatever complications arise from this." Mia said.
"Certainly, ma’am. I’ll be awaiting your response," the attorney stated, and shortly thereafter, Mia exited the vehicle.
As soon as Mia exited, the attorney let out a sigh of relief. The knife that had been pressed against his side was finally taken away.
The individual seated next to the attorney, who appeared to be the driver, withdrew his arm from the attorney’s side.
With the tension now dissipated, the lawyer turned his attention toward the man dressed in a formal business suit, whose face carried an air of menace.
"I have fulfilled the obligation you entrusted to me. Consequently, I respectfully request that you allow me to be in peace," the lawyer pleaded.
The other individual remained silent, yet shortly after, the attorney observed him exiting the vehicle.
As he stepped out, a taxi arrived to collect him, and soon after, the cab drove away.
The lawyer’s adrenaline, which had surged earlier, gradually subsided as he exhaled a sigh of relief.
He had been growing increasingly anxious, dreading the possibility that his life might end at the hands of that unknown stranger.
At first, he intended to let Mia know about John’s plan to include the bald-headed individual in the affairs concerning Vixen’s situation, with the expectation that they might collaborate as partners in the scheme.
Nevertheless, he was utterly shocked when his life was abruptly endangered with a firearm, as an unidentified attacker insisted that he relay exactly what had been directed to communicate to Mia.
Throughout this ordeal, he was to be closely monitored to ensure compliance with the stranger’s orders.
He pondered who might have been responsible, but fear gripped him as he realized that his life was being monitored by that individual.
The moment he observed that the man had vanished entirely from his view, he exited his vehicle, took control of the steering wheel, and then steered his car in a different direction.
*
The individual who had previously issued a threat to the attorney shifted his gaze sideways, observing John as he settled into the driver’s seat, eager to see the outcome of their recent actions.
"He relayed all the details to her precisely, sir. Now she’s pursuing the man. We must ensure he does not appear in court today," the man conveyed while watching John give a nod of agreement.
"Okay then, I’ll have to inform Mr. Vixen about this," John stated calmly, his eyes focusing on the steering wheel while he drove the car.

Mia let out a growl of frustration as soon as she settled into her car. The disturbance was evident on her face, and she couldn’t help but dwell on the latest developments.
How could everything have unfolded so rapidly in such a brief period?
She had an unsettling feeling that something terrible was imminent, yet simultaneously, she felt as though everything might actually be progressing as she had intended.
She simply needed to determine the point from which she would launch her strike.
Furthermore, she found it impossible to shake off the lingering thoughts of Arthur.
Why did it seem so peculiar that Vixen’s arrest coincided precisely with the moment she was prepared to set her plan concerning Arthur into motion?
With a sense of frustration, she extended her hand towards her phone and, without wasting another moment, proceeded to make a call to someone.
"Why is it that I haven’t heard anything about that boy, Jordan?" Mia remarked, sounding quite annoyed as she scanned her surroundings.
"I’m sorry, ma’am, but I haven’t been able to see Arthur for some time now. He hasn’t been to school, possibly due to the situation with his father."
"You know what—" Mia shouted, her anger already simmering due to his remarks.
Why on earth was this situation unfolding in such a way?
Perhaps it was because Vixen hadn’t yet grasped the fact that she had Abi under her control.
Maybe she could abandon her scheme and instead send a cautionary message to Vixen to serve as a warning.
"Do you understand what you need to do? For now, keep a low profile, but soon, I need you to reach out to the team accompanying Abi. Have them take a few photos of her and send them over to Vixen. Tell him to whatever he’s planning on doing, and I’ll come up with another plan shortly, alright?"
"Understood, ma’am." With that, Mia hung up the call and immediately dialed another number.
"I require you to eliminate someone, and I need you to handle this task with the utmost subtlety and precision, understood?" Mia stated, her voice carrying an unwavering determination.
Once the call ended, she found herself gazing absentmindedly out the window of her front-view car.
Her mind was set on claiming Vixen as her own, no matter what it took, and she had resolved not to surrender until her goal was achieved.
At this point, there was absolutely no chance she would accept defeat; her strategy had to be sharp, and she was determined to uncover the genuine solution to escape this predicament, regardless of the price.
Whoever she had to bring down or elevate in the process, she was fully prepared for the challenge.
As long as it meant that Vixen’s attention was focused solely on her, she was satisfied.
No one else mattered.
