Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Cousin-Chapter 572: Drive Away Second Sister-in-Law_1
Ji Yunhuan had been worried about Yangyang all morning and gradually became numb. She suppressed her anger deep inside, knowing she couldn’t do anything to her second sister-in-law for the time being. Hearing what Qi’s mother said, a trace of mockery appeared in her eyes. "Yangyang isn’t her biological child. Why would she care about him? To her, keeping Yangyang by her side is just a way to save face as Mrs. Qi the Second. She’s just afraid of people mocking her for not being able to have children."
If a mother truly loved her child, how could she let her child do such things? 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Qi’s mother sighed helplessly at Ji Yunhuan’s words.
Ji Yunhuan was busy taking care of Yangyang and didn’t greet Qi’s mother.
Qi’s mother didn’t stay long before leaving, and Qi Cheng escorted her downstairs.
The room was very quiet. The servants could sense Ji Yunhuan’s bad mood and didn’t dare to disturb her.
A servant holding Ruirui was about to come in when Qi Cheng returned and stopped her. "Give me the child."
"But Young Master Rui has been looking for Madam." Not seeing Ji Yunhuan all morning, Ruirui was very unhappy.
The servant had a hard time coaxing him by telling him they were going to Ji Yunhuan, and only then did he calm down a bit.
Qi Cheng reached out and held Ruirui in his arms. Taking him to the next room, he had no choice now. Yangyang was sick, and even he was ignored by Ji Yunhuan. How dare he let Ruirui disturb her?
Sitting on the sofa with Ruirui in his arms, Qi Cheng looked at his son. He felt a sense of shared suffering, being ignored by Ji Yunhuan alongside Ruirui.
But what else could he do? In this household, Ji Yunhuan held a position akin to a queen.
Ji Yunhuan stayed by Yangyang’s side until he woke up, showing a slight smile. "Darling, are you hungry? You’ve slept most of the day and worried Mommy to death."
Yangyang looked at Ji Yunhuan and shook his head. He wasn’t hungry at all.
Still, Ji Yunhuan had someone bring some food for Yangyang. "Come, eat a little. Mommy made it."
Perhaps it was Ji Yunhuan’s expectant eyes that made Yangyang give in. Or maybe he was less strong-willed because he was sick. When the spoon was brought to his mouth, he opened up and drank a bit of the chicken soup. However, because he was sick, everything tasted bland to him. With no appetite, he took only a few sips before stopping.
Seeing that he really couldn’t drink anymore, Ji Yunhuan didn’t force him. The servant quickly took the bowl away.
Ji Yunhuan carried Yangyang to the bathroom, then back to bed. Due to his fever and resulting indigestion, he didn’t want to go to the bathroom, but his stomach felt bloated and made him uncomfortable.
Seeing his discomfort, Ji Yunhuan reached out to touch his stomach. He uneasily pushed her hand away. Ji Yunhuan said, "Be good, let Mommy check."
Hearing her words, Yangyang let go. Ji Yunhuan found his stomach indeed a bit bloated and knew he must be very uncomfortable. "When Doctor Yang comes later, I’ll have him check on you."
Yangyang stared at Ji Yunhuan’s gentle face for a while before falling asleep again.
When Doctor Yang came, he gave Yangyang an IV.
That night, Ji Yunhuan slept in Yangyang’s room, constantly taking care of him. Even lying next to him, she didn’t dare to close her eyes.
The more distant her son was, the more guilty she felt, and the more she wanted to make it up to him.
Qi Cheng came to check on her a few times. Seeing that she refused to relax even a bit, he didn’t insist.
That night, the second sister-in-law came home late. Qi’s mother didn’t see her until the next morning.
Having visited Yangyang, Qi’s mother was still angry. At breakfast, she looked at her second daughter-in-law and spoke sternly, "Did you call Yangyang the day before yesterday?"
"I missed him, so I called," the second daughter-in-law admitted.
"You taught Yangyang to shower with cold water on purpose to give him a cold?" Qi’s mother glared at her, sure it was her doing. After all, Yangyang was usually obedient. A three-year-old wouldn’t think of such a method. "Shi Xuan, when did you become so heartless? I thought you were the most sensible person in this family, but you’ve really disappointed me more and more."
The second daughter-in-law said, "I didn’t do that."
"Whether you did or not, you know, and I know."
The second daughter-in-law smiled helplessly, "I heard you went to Qi Cheng’s place yesterday. Do you believe everything they say?"
"Think what you want." Her defiant attitude made Qi’s mother unwilling to say more.
The second daughter-in-law left and went directly to Qi Cheng’s house.
Yangyang hadn’t woken up yet. Ji Yunhuan heard a servant come in and say, "Madam, Mrs. Qi the Second is here."
Hearing it was her second sister-in-law, Ji Yunhuan’s face turned cold. "What is she here for?"
"I heard Yangyang is sick, so she’s here to visit."
Ji Yunhuan walked out of the room as her second sister-in-law was coming upstairs. She had always come and gone freely in this house. Ji Yunhuan stopped her from going toward Yangyang’s room. "What are you here for?"
Facing Ji Yunhuan’s unfriendly questioning, the second sister-in-law replied confidently, "I heard from Mom that Yangyang is sick. I’m here to check on him."
"Is your concern needed?" Yangyang’s illness had tortured Ji Yunhuan day and night. She hated her second sister-in-law more than ever. Staring at her, she felt it disgusting to even think of hitting her. "You don’t even care if he lives or dies. What reason do you have to stand here and say you’re concerned about him?"
Seeing Ji Yunhuan like this, the second sister-in-law couldn’t help but laugh. "What did I even do to make you so angry?"
"You did nothing?" Ji Yunhuan said furiously. "Yes, you did nothing, yet you managed to hurt him like this. He’s just a three-year-old child. How could you make him do such a thing? Were you happy when you knew he was sick and suffering?"
"He ended up like this because of you!" The second sister-in-law’s face turned cold, facing Ji Yunhuan’s aggressive stance. "If you hadn’t insisted on taking him away, I wouldn’t have made him do such foolish things."
"Yes, yes, it’s all my fault. As his mother, all his suffering is because of me. It’s my incompetence. But..." Ji Yunhuan thought of what Assistant Gao had told her today about her brother spending the night at a hotel with Lin Xiang. She had originally wanted to mention it to anger her sister-in-law. Now, she suddenly didn’t want to say anything.
Keeping it from her sister-in-law, she wanted to see what her ultimate downfall would be.
"But what?" Her second sister-in-law sneered at Ji Yunhuan. Although her purpose was to see Yangyang, seeing Ji Yunhuan in such distress wasn’t bad either.
Ji Yunhuan said, "One day, you’ll realize how foolish you are."
"When that day comes, it won’t be your concern." The second sister-in-law tried to walk past her. "I want to see Yangyang. Let me in."
