Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Cousin-Chapter 556 Adoration in His Eyes_1
Moreover, being brought back by Ji Yunhuan, it was clear that Yangyang was unwilling. He hated that Yangyang had eyes only for his second sister-in-law!
Ji Yunhuan tried to persuade the stubborn man. "Qi Cheng, don’t be like this. The child is innocent."
Qi Cheng spoke, holding back his anger. He called the female housekeeper and had Yangyang sent back to his room to rest.
He carried Ji Yunhuan upstairs, entered the room, and Ji Yunhuan struggled free from his embrace. "I’m going to take a shower."
The servant had already gone to the bathroom to run the water and prepared clean clothes for her. Ji Yunhuan’s clothes and hair were dry, after all, several hours had passed. But she would not forget the humiliation by her second sister-in-law.
She entered the bathroom, called the servants out, undressed herself, and stood under the shower for a rinse. Thinking back to the day’s embarrassment, her gaze gradually hardened.
When Qi Cheng pushed the door open and came in, Ji Yunhuan was already in the bathtub. The bubbles in the tub hid her body under the water. He stood beside her. "Are you hungry? I had someone prepare some food."
"A little." Due to worrying about Yangyang, she had barely eaten anything before going out today.
Qi Cheng brought the food in and fed her. Ji Yunhuan said, "You don’t have to do that. I’m still taking a bath."
"I’m afraid you’ll faint from hunger." His eyes were full of doting affection.
Ji Yunhuan was helpless. "Isn’t that a bit exaggerated?"
"But I would worry!" He seemed to have forgotten the unpleasantness of the day and looked at Ji Yunhuan gently.
Actually, he understood that if he kept remembering that incident, Ji Yunhuan would feel even worse.
Revenge could wait. There would be plenty of time for that later.
"Alright, I’m done eating." Ji Yunhuan ate only a little to fill her stomach. Then Qi Cheng took the food away. She climbed out of the tub, dried herself off, and pulled on the bathrobe hanging nearby.
Food was laid out on the table outside. Qi Cheng came in from outside.
"Have you checked on Ruirui?" She knew the only thing that could distract him at this time was probably their son.
"He’s already asleep. Let him sleep there so he won’t disturb you." Although Ruirui still had a habit of sticking to Ji Yunhuan, he was no longer a mere two or three-month-old baby. The servants could handle him.
Knowing Ji Yunhuan was too tired, he did not let Ruirui bother her. After all, it was already late into the night.
-
In the early morning, with the sunlight streaming across half the house, Ji Yunhuan finally woke up. They had rested after eating last night and did not sleep until very late. That’s why she was only waking now.
The space beside her was empty. It seemed Qi Cheng had gotten up before she woke. Ji Yunhuan quickly dressed and went next door to see Ruirui. Having not seen her son all night, she was still worried.
Ruirui sat in his stroller while the servant fed him. As soon as he saw Ji Yunhuan enter the room, he started waving his arms and legs in greeting.
Her son’s enthusiasm made Ji Yunhuan smile softly. She walked up to Ruirui and held his tiny hand.
The servant said, "Young Master Rui has been eating a lot these days."
"A good appetite is a good thing, but don’t let him overeat." Falling sick would be more concerning.
"I’ll be careful." The servants, experienced in child care, naturally took such things into consideration.
Ji Yunhuan smiled. "What about Yangyang, is he up?"
"He got up, ate some food, and went back to his room. He didn’t let anyone accompany him." Although only three and a half years old, the little tyke’s solitary nature surprised the servants.
"I’ll go check on him." Ji Yunhuan stood up. Seeing her about to leave, Ruirui kept grabbing her hand, babbling non-stop.
Although he couldn’t speak yet, only babbling baby talk, his meaning couldn’t have been clearer.
Ji Yunhuan left Ruirui and went to Yangyang’s room, knocked on the door, but there was no response.
"Is he not in?" she asked the servant responsible for taking care of Yangyang.
"He is. He hasn’t come out the whole time."
"Go get the key." The door was locked from inside. Ji Yunhuan knocked for a long time without any response. She guessed Yangyang might be asleep but wanted to check on him to feel at ease.
The servant quickly brought the key. Ji Yunhuan unlocked and entered, seeing Yangyang sitting alone on the floor by the window, working on a puzzle. He glanced at Ji Yunhuan, then lowered his head to continue his task, with an indifferent attitude, not greeting her.
Ji Yunhuan had knocked on the door for a long time. Seeing him calmly sitting there now, she felt a mix of relief and worry.
After just two days with the second sister-in-law, his attitude had returned to its initial coldness.
Ji Yunhuan sat down in front of him. "Mom was knocking on the door for a long time. Why didn’t you answer? You made me think you were asleep inside."
Yet, he was fully awake. Impossible he hadn’t heard her knocking for so long.
Faced with Ji Yunhuan’s question, Yangyang showed no reaction.
Ji Yunhuan felt her suspicions confirmed, and disappointment settled in. "Are you really ignoring me now? What did your second mom tell you after you returned?"
Yangyang, irritated by the questioning, turned around, showing Ji Yunhuan his back.
Before the second sister-in-law took him away, his attitude, though not warm, was never this cold towards Ji Yunhuan.
Especially that night, after Bai Liyan’s persuasion, he apologized to Ji Yunhuan on his own.
It was clear he did not want to make Ji Yunhuan sad, but now... he had reverted to his old, icy self.
Ji Yunhuan took a deep breath, on the verge of tears.
She had gone through great efforts to take him back from the second sister-in-law, only to face this scene.
The second sister-in-law was truly ruthless. In just two days, she could turn Yangyang to this extent.
Her efforts over such a long time were no match for two days of the second sister-in-law’s influence.
Ji Yunhuan stood up and told the servant. "Stay with him."
The servant, seeing Yangyang so cold, felt deep pain in her heart, and pitied Ji Yunhuan even more for her feelings as a mother.
Any mother, seeing such a scene, would feel heartbroken!
Ji Yunhuan walked out. Not long after, Qi Cheng came out of the elevator and saw her standing in front of Yangyang’s door with a sad expression. He walked up to her. "You’re already up?"
Ji Yunhuan said nothing and hugged Qi Cheng, leaning on his chest, feeling her heart ache as if being cut. "Qi Cheng, what should I do? How can I go back to the past?"
If she had not chosen to leave back then, this would not have happened today.
