Chapter 533: Chapter 533 Coming Back Too Late_1

He still maintained his usual politeness. He looked at Ji Yunhuan. "What were you trying to say just now?"

"I just wanted to joke."

Zhou Yixiu obviously didn’t believe it. "You came here specifically to joke with me?"

Ji Yunhuan said, "Not specifically, just passing by. I saw you, so I said hello."

After saying this, Ji Yunhuan felt uncomfortable as Zhou Yixiu kept staring at her suspiciously. "Sorry, I have something else to do. I’ll leave now. Mr. Zhou, please help yourself."

Even until she left the gate, Zhou Yixiu’s gaze didn’t leave her. He had seen Ji Yunhuan at the Qi Family’s house before and only knew she was Qi Cheng’s woman, so he didn’t pay much attention. But later, after investigating, he found that there seemed to be many stories between Ji Yunhuan and Qi Cheng.

Seeing Ji Yunhuan again today, he suddenly developed a strong interest in this woman.

"Sir," the secretary reminded him beside him.

Zhou Yixiu withdrew his gaze. His face turned serious again. "Let’s go."

Ji Yunhuan walked out of the restaurant. Before she got in the car, she saw Qi Cheng walking out of a tall building nearby. Although there was some distance, Qi Cheng still quickly noticed her.

"Come here." He called out from a distance.

Ji Yunhuan didn’t hear his voice, but she understood his meaning and walked towards him.

She didn’t expect to meet him here. Could it be too coincidental?

Before she got close, Ji Yunhuan started to smile. Seeing her grinning face, Qi Cheng’s mood seemed to improve a lot. "What are you doing here?"

"Just passing by." Ji Yunhuan looked at Qi Cheng. "What about you? What are you doing here?"

"Get in the car. I’ll tell you."

The driver opened the car door for them.

Once inside the car, Qi Cheng looked at her. "Have you eaten?"

"No." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Qi Cheng checked the time. "Aren’t you supposed to pick up Yangyang?"

"I picked him up and brought him home before coming out."

"Got something to do?" He looked at her curiously since she hadn’t mentioned her plans that morning.

"I came out to find you," Ji Yunhuan said, looking at Qi Cheng with a smile.

"Liar." Qi Cheng lightly flicked her forehead.

They went out for a meal and came home late. Ruirui had already been put to bed by someone. A servant told Ji Yunhuan, "Yangyang was called by the Second Young Lady today."

Ji Yunhuan guessed Yangyang must be asleep by now, so she didn’t disturb him.

After taking a bath and lying in bed, Ji Yunhuan remembered that Bai Liyan would perform surgery on Zhou Muqing tomorrow. She said to Qi Cheng, "Zhou Muqing is having surgery tomorrow. I have to go to the hospital."

Qi Cheng knew she had been worried about this lately and looked at her, asking knowingly, "Someone else’s surgery, what are you going to do?"

"As a friend, I must accompany Wenwen! Although Zhou Muqing’s mother will be there, I still want to help." She also hoped that her presence would give Bai Liyan some motivation. After all, it was his first surgery since his comeback—although she couldn’t help much, he seemed more at ease with her there.

Who knew that Qi Cheng would say, "You are going for Bai Liyan, aren’t you."

She looked at him and hugged him tightly. "Don’t always think of me like that."

Her guilty look made Qi Cheng even more jealous. "You really treat Bai Liyan differently."

"That’s because he used to help me a lot! When you were always bullying me, he helped me so much." Ji Yunhuan said, "Isn’t it only right for people to help each other? I am just repaying his kindness now. Besides, it’s also for Auntie."

Qi Cheng, reminiscing about the past, thought of those times when she was pregnant, and he was with Lin Xiang...His gaze fell on her face, which had become calm as if she had long forgotten those things.

Back then, Bai Liyan did help Ji Yunhuan a lot.

Also, he knew that tomorrow was important for both Bai Liyan and Zhou Muqing.

"Okay." Qi Cheng agreed, not opposing her anymore.

Ji Yunhuan looked at him. "Are you going? I think you should come too."

"No."

"Haven’t you always considered Bai Liyan a good friend?" Ji Yunhuan watched his profile. "Aren’t you worried about him?"

"Wenwen will kick me out if I go, right? I’m not going." Wenwen didn’t like Qi Cheng, and Qi Cheng always knew this, so he didn’t want to go and embarrass himself.

Hearing his words, Ji Yunhuan smiled helplessly. "Actually, it’s not that bad. She’s not that annoyed by you."

"Not that annoyed?" Qi Cheng glanced at Ji Yunhuan with disbelief.

"Alright, if you don’t want to, then don’t. I’ll go by myself." Ji Yunhuan leaned on him and didn’t push him. Making him deal with people he didn’t like would only torture him.

Qi Cheng looked at her depending on him and smiled.

The next day, Qi Cheng stayed home with the kids while Ji Yunhuan went to the hospital.

Zhou Muqing’s surgery went smoothly. When Bai Liyan came out of the operating room, everyone heaved a sigh of relief.

He walked out, removed his mask, and Ji Yunhuan walked up to him. "Congratulations."

He looked at her and smiled. "Thank you, Yunhuan."

"Why thank me? It’s your hard work."

"Because of you, I was able to return." During this period, Ji Yunhuan had put in a lot of effort for him. Without her giving him courage, he might never have returned to the operating room.

Ji Yunhuan smiled. "Anyway, you succeeded, didn’t you?"

"Yes, so thank you." Bai Liyan lowered his head and lightly kissed Ji Yunhuan’s cheek.

The sudden kiss startled Ji Yunhuan. Seeing his smiling eyes, she realized, "Just a thank you. Don’t overthink it."

The success of the surgery was crucial for him.

This success made him feel reborn.

That evening, everyone held a small welcome party for Bai Liyan, and Ji Yunhuan attended. But she went back early because she was thinking about the children.

When she got home, Qi Cheng was on the sofa, holding a crying Ruirui. Ji Yunhuan walked over, saw Qi Cheng dozing off, and helplessly took Ruirui into her arms.

How tired was he that he couldn’t even hear his son’s cries?

Qi Cheng was awakened by her movements. Seeing Ji Yunhuan, he straightened up. "You’re back?"

"You’re so tired. Just go to sleep."

He complained, "You came back too late."

"They had a party. I got pulled along. I’m back quite early." Ji Yunhuan looked at Qi Cheng. "Is taking care of the kids tiring?"

"He keeps crying." Without Ji Yunhuan, he couldn’t calm Ruirui down. Now in her arms, Ruirui wasn’t crying as much as before.
