Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'-Chapter 384: Mistaking the Wrong Daughter
Chapter 384: Mistaking the Wrong Daughter
Joe knew Logan wouldn’t agree to that, but he still had to try.
Since there was no other choice, he settled for a lesser solution. "Since Selina is fine now and Angelica has already paid a price, how about Angelica apologizes, and we put this behind us?"
The "price" he referred to was Angelica’s shattered wrist—though Joe didn’t dare mention it outright.
Because if he did, how would they answer outsiders who questioned Logan’s actions?
Would he say Angelica framed Selina, leading to Selina’s kidnapping, and Logan retaliated by hurting Angelica?
That would completely destroy Angelica’s reputation.
After making his suggestion, Joe still felt aggrieved on Angelica’s behalf. To him, this wasn’t even a big deal. Why did she need to apologize?
Grandpa Reid also thought the idea reasonable and was about to agree when Logan curled his lips into a smile. Then his expression quickly turned icy.
"Apologize and sweep it under the rug?"
Logan spoke coldly, enunciating every word:
"If today, it was your daughter who’d been chased, slandered, and barely made it out alive, Chairman Morris—would an apology from the culprit be enough?"
"Of course not! Why let the culprit off so easily?" Joe answered without hesitation.
Logan was relentless. "If it’s unacceptable for your daughter, why should Selina endure such unfair treatment?"
The man gave a mocking smile. "Oh... is Chairman Morris employing double standards now?"
Joe felt his throat tighten, realizing he’d stepped right into Logan’s trap.
He didn’t understand what Logan was up to. Logan, as the head of Reid Group, should know better than anyone that there were no permanent enemies, only permanent interests.
The Reid and Morris families had exchanged shares and were closely aligned. Sacrificing one individual to protect the greater interest was inevitable.
Did Logan really not understand this? Or perhaps he did, but was willing to disregard both families’ reputations and interests solely for Selina? That was completely unacceptable!
Joe confronted Logan without hesitation.
After hearing Joe’s viewpoint, Logan simply smiled meaningfully.
His smile didn’t look angry—instead, it appeared... satisfied?
"Chairman Morris, are you suggesting we shield the culprit and sacrifice Selina just to protect our two families’ interests?"
Joe maintained a stern face. If there hadn’t been cameras present, he would have said it more bluntly—Selina was already expendable. Extracting every bit of benefit from her was clearly the smartest move.
"In any case, Angelica is my daughter. I absolutely won’t let you take her away. I’m sorry for everything Miss Clark experienced," Joe said, adding a threat. "But Miss Clark alone trying to challenge the Morris Family is like an ant trying to shake a tree."
Selina blinked and was about to speak when Logan asked again, "But what if Selina really can’t swallow this insult?"
Joe’s patience wore thin.
In the past, given his personality, he would have handled such matters violently. Not that the Morris Family had faced this exact situation before.
But Angelica was his daughter—his and Victoria’s daughter. Victoria was his world, so why shouldn’t he adjust his usual stance for Angelica?
Anyone who stood in his daughter’s way deserved to be removed. Selina was still alive... shouldn’t she be grateful? How dare she claim she "couldn’t swallow this insult"?
"Logan, I’m only standing here wasting my breath because of you and the Reid Family," Joe said, his brows knitted. "If the Morris Family insists on protecting Angelica, there’s nothing you can do about it."
"Seems there’s no reasoning with you," Logan said indifferently, nodding slightly. "Then do whatever you please, Chairman Morris."
"What do you mean!" Joe was at his wits’ end. "Are you really going to destroy our families’ relationship over one woman? Logan, Reid Family isn’t yours yet!"
Logan raised an indifferent eyebrow. "What does my business have to do with Reid Family? Aren’t they the ones constantly sticking themselves to me?"
Grandpa Reid stiffened, and others visibly gulped.
Indeed, what did this have to do with Reid Family? When they saw benefits, Reid Family rushed in to attach themselves to Logan; when things turned unfavorable, they swiftly kicked him aside.
"So, Chairman Morris, I suggest you use your brain more often. At your age, if you don’t use it, it’ll just rot away. You can’t even figure out the mess within your Morris Family or properly understand my relationship with Reid Family."
Logan finished without bothering to look at either Grandpa Reid’s or Joe’s faces, curling his lips into a smile as he continued:
"Chairman Morris, so according to your logic, Angelica apologizing is the most you think she should concede?"
People around shook their heads in disbelief. Was this a joke?
Attempted murder, framing, forged suicide notes, slander, identity theft... and all Joe thought Angelica needed to do was apologize. Even then, Joe felt Angelica was being wronged!
Joe scowled. Since his conversation with Logan had completely collapsed, there was no reason to sugarcoat things anymore.
"Yes, in fact, if you ask me, I don’t think an apology is even necessary. The Morris Family’s eldest daughter has every right to be arrogant."
For a moment, Logan couldn’t decide if Joe was genuinely stupid or incredibly confident to say something like this on camera.
Or perhaps...
Selina gave Logan a shy smile.
Indeed, why did Angelica and Joe dare to act this brazenly? With cameras rolling and a livestream broadcasting, how could they possibly protect Angelica now? After all, this wasn’t mere business rivalry—it was attempted murder.
Logan finally understood.
Angelica and Joe both assumed the livestream had ended the moment Selina appeared.
They never imagined that after such chaos and exposed scandals, the livestream was still running.
The worst outcome Joe envisioned was their family’s scandals reaching only those influential people present—not the entire nation.
Logan didn’t expose this. Instead, he asked, "Is being the eldest daughter of the Morris Family enough to justify this?"
Joe grew even more impatient. "Yes! How many times do I have to repeat myself? Selina isn’t even worth one strand of Angelica’s hair! How could she deserve an apology from Angelica?"
"Chairman Morris, remember your own words clearly—don’t regret them later."
With that, Logan cast a meaningful glance at Angelica and lifted his hand slightly.
Angelica’s heart skipped a beat. A powerful, destructive premonition surged through her like a tidal wave, consuming her.
What was Logan doing? What was he planning!
The title "Eldest Daughter of Morris Family" was her only shield! Selina... wasn’t Selina supposed to disdain this status?
"Chairman Morris, even though you’re an utter failure as a father and Selina wants absolutely nothing to do with you, personally, I can’t bear the thought of Angelica living under the title of Mrs. Victoria’s daughter."
Logan coldly threw a file toward Joe, who didn’t catch it, allowing it to fall to the ground.
Joe’s face turned pale with rage, feeling utterly humiliated. "What exactly are you trying to do! Angelica and Victoria are the most important people in my life—how dare you insult them like this..."
And what did Logan mean by Selina not wanting anything to do with him? He didn’t want anything to do with Selina either!
Just as Joe was about to lose his temper, someone beside him gasped sharply.
"Holy crap... Check Twitter quickly! Huge scandal! Has Joe lost his mind? He actually mistook someone else as his daughter? The internet is blowing up!"
