Chapter 219: Unexpected Visit[2]

"Hi... Laura." Harry mumbled, with a slight smile on his face.

After that interaction, the two of them simply stood at the door, staring awkwardly at each other.

"Ohh. Come in." Harry said, letting out an embarrassed chuckle.

Laura simply replied with a slight smile, walking into the building.

After she came in, Harry heaved a light sigh of relief, before gently closing the door.

Since this was the first time he was getting a visitor, he still wasn’t sure of how he was supposed to act.

He was simply following his instincts, and things seemed to be going quite well.

"Wow. Nice place." Laura muttered, taking her time to look around the living room.

"Ohh, thanks." Harry replied, following behind her.

After walking for a few seconds, they both took their seats, seating opposite each other.

"So... what did you come here for? Did something happen at the restaurant?" Harry asked, leaning comfortably on the chair.

"No... nothing happened." Laura replied, fiddling with their fingers once more. "I... just..."

She suddenly paused, causing Harry’s brows to furrow in confusion.

Although she insisted nothing happened at the restaurant, her reaction made him feel like something was up. He just didn’t know what was.

Ever since the mana beast attack, AMO officers had been monitoring the restaurant, to see if they’d notice anything strange.

At first, they placed the restaurant on lockdown, claiming it was all for research purposes.

This naturally annoyed not just the owner, but also the workers however, no one complained.

Since none of them wanted a repeat of what happened before, they simply let the adventures run whatever they wanted to run on the building.

However, the AMO didn’t notice anything strange with neither the building nor the surroundings.

After a few days, they opened it up again, and the business started running normally.

Nonetheless, the news about the mana beast attack spread like wildfire all over Vernil.

They lost most of their customers, as people avoided it out of fear that another rift will open up.

Besides that, the AMO still showed up once in a while to check for anything strange.

"You’re sure...?" Harry asked, narrowing his eyes slightly.

He hadn’t been to the restaurant for a while now. He took a break, in order to focus on his training and the ranking event.

"Yeah." The girl nodded, before continuing. "I just wanted to say... thank you for the last time."

"Huh?" Harry muttered in confusion. ’Is that what she came to tell me?’

"We haven’t been able to talk much... so I haven’t had the chance to talk to you about it." Laura said, lightly clenching her fists.

"Thanks Harry, if not for you, I would..."

"You don’t need to thank me you know." Harry said, lightly tapping the arm of the chair.

"It’s not like I really did anything..." He mumbled, his expression twisting into a slight frown.

"No... you’re wrong. I was there you know, watching you as you drew those beasts to yourself." She muttered, pausing for a few seconds.

"If not for that... there would have been a lot of casualties. You were brave... and all I could do was stand there helplessly."

"Well, I would have died if you hadn’t called the AMO when you did."

"That’s not it... You were terribly injured by those mana beasts, it was a miracle you even survived!" Laura said, her eyes slowly turning moist.

"Yeah, but I did. So it all worked out well at the end. You really don’t have to worry, I’m fine now." Harry replied, waving his hands nonchalantly.

She was clearly worried about him, and was also blaming herself for not helping more when the rift opened.

However, Harry didn’t see any need for her to do so.

It was his choice to draw the mana beasts attention, he saw no reason why she would want to blame herself it.

Even though he had been badly injuries by the stage four mana beast, he still didn’t regret his decision to fight the beast.

If anything, it only fuelled his resolve to get even stronger, so he wouldn’t be in a similar situation ever again.

"I guess... you’re right." Laura muttered, turning her head to the ground. ’I expected him to at least be a little down after what happened... but he has already accepted it. As expected of Harry.’

"Besides, how did you know where I live?" Harry suddenly asked, changing the topic.

"Ohh... I asked the chefs, and they directed me here."

"Huh?" Harry muttered in surprise, with a wry smile on his face.

’To think they would give up my address so easily.’ He thought, lightly clicking his tongue.

Out of all the workers in the restaurant, the chefs were the only ones he was quite close with.

During one of their conversations, the topic about where he lived popped up, and he described it to them.

Even now, he could already imagine the cheeky expressions on their faces.

"Well... I guess it’s okay." He mumbled, turning his gaze back to Laura.

After that, they continued discussing, mainly about Harry’s participation in the ranking event.

The final qualifier round was broadcasted throughout Vernil, so Laura made sure to watch it, especially since she knew Harry was also a competitor.

She was really shocked by Harry’s strength, especially at the way he was able to easily overwhelm stage three Elementalists.

She had never seen anything like it before.

They discussed for a few more minutes, before Laura finally decided to leave.

"See... you later Harry." She muttered, her cheeks turning pink for some reason as she stared at Harry’s face.

She suddenly looked to the side, slowly twirling her hair with an embarrassed smile.

"Yeah. Goodbye." Harry replied with a slight smile on his face, before gently opening the door.

Although he might not want to admit it, he enjoyed his conversation with Laura, and a part of him even wished they had it again.

Laura slowly stepped out of the door, however, she paused at the doorway, nervously fiddling with her fingers.

"Hey, are you—"

Before Harry could even complete his words, she suddenly lunged at him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders.

"H-huh..." Harry mumbled in shock.

His senses were immediately overwhelmed by the sweet flowery scent wafting from her body, and his body froze.

Laura cheeks burned red with embarrassment, as she moved her lips closer to his face before planting a soft kiss on his right cheek.

"W-what... was that for?" Harry mumbled, his face burning red with embarrassment.

"I-it’s... nothing!" Laura shouted, abruptly sprinting out of the door.

"What...?" Harry muttered in confusion, subconsciously rubbing where she pecked.

Even now, he could still feel her soft lips on his cheeks, and the sweet flowery scent of her body.

’What is wrong with me?’ He thought, shaking all the strange thoughts off his mind.
