Manaless Mage-Chapter 190: Self Disappointment
Chapter 190: Self Disappointment
The warrior’s physique was basically a skill or ability that could be developed by honing and training the body with mana. With this physique, the body could heal injuries and cuts on its own, as long as mana’s available.
Since Elementalists couldn’t use raw mana, and only used a refined form called elemental mana, gaining warrior’s physique was borderline impossible for them.
Coupled with the fact that they relied mainly on their spells and elemental skills, it was even harder to develop the physique.
There were only few from the sixth mana core stage and above, who were known to have awakened the ability by properly training their physical bodies and honing their elemental mana.
However, the ability was more common among combat mages. Compared to Elementalists, combat mages focused more on training their bodies and utilised raw mana in their skills, so most of them usually gain the warrior’s physique after reaching the third mana core stage.
Nonetheless, how powerful the ability would be, depends on the strength and talent of the mage.
Harry’s brows furrowed slightly, and for a moment, his eyes flashed with a strange glint.
"What... do you mean?" Harry finally spoke, before turning his head back to Terry.
Since Terry had already seen his wounds regenerating, the only thing he could do was feign ignorance about it, and hope the adventurer comes up with a different conclusion; hopefully, one that was favourable to him.
"Hmm..." Terry mumbled, his brows creasing slightly. "I guess you didn’t know about it."
To Harry’s surprise, the adventurer didn’t say anything else after that, and instead went silent for a few seconds.
’Harry... Grand mage Nate asked me to look into him the last time, but I didn’t find anything worth noteworthy.’ Terry thought, still lost in his thoughts. ’Could it be that he noticed something I didn’t?’
Actually, there was one thing he did find out about the relationship between Harry and his family, which was how poorly they treated the teenager.
As someone without a mana core foundation, it wasn’t too surprising he was viewed as a "failure" by his parents.
However, Terry didn’t bother to report on that, because he didn’t consider it "noteworthy". In other words, he didn’t care, and felt like it wasn’t his business, as it would only increase his workload.
The only person he told Nate about was Trent, who he found out had great talent for magic, unlike his brother.
Despite inwardly cursing Nate for placing unnecessary workload on him, he still wanted to score some points with the grand mage. He felt like telling the grand mage about a great talent he discovered was worth a lot more than some manaless trash.
Suddenly, the man’s eyes brightened up, and his gaze turned back to Harry. "I remember, the last time I met you, you didn’t even have a mana foundation, and yet you’re... now a late stage one Elementalist." He said.
"Yeah... I finally awakened my affinity a few months ago." Harry said, while also nodding his head lightly.
’A few months ago?! And he’s already close to breaking through to the second stage... such insane talent.’ Terry thought.
Out of curiosity, Terry asked Harry about his affinity grade, and when he heard the reply, his jaw couldn’t help but drop in shock.
"Three peak grade affinities?!" He exclaimed, with widened eyes as he stared at Harry, to which the brown haired teenager simply nodded in reply.
’I knew his talent was insane when I examined his mana core... but to think it was this insane!’ The man thought, his eyes blinking in surprise. He couldn’t help but wonder what Harry’s parents would think when they learn of this, not even them would expect it.
Ever since he discovered Harry was manaless, he simply regarded him as unimportant, so he didn’t really bother to find out how he was faring in the academy.
If he did, he would have learnt about his affinity grades, and also his achievements in the ongoing ranking event.
’Now that I think about it... I remember hearing about someone with three peak grade affinities in Vane academy, I just never bothered about it.’ He mumbled inwardly.
’Three peak grade affinities... great foundation... even warrior’s physique, it’s all just so unbelievable... to think only one person has all of this.’ Terry thought, letting out a low sigh. He hated to admit it, but he felt envious of Harry.
The first time he met Harry, he inwardly thanked his stars that he wasn’t born as trash without even a mana foundation, however, thinking about his thoughts now, he couldn’t help but feel very stupid.
’I’m quite curious about him now... he certainly isn’t your average Elementalist.’ The adventurer thought.
Harry’s brows furrowed slightly as he stared at the man. Ever since he mentioned his affinity grades, Terry had been silent, obviously lost in his thoughts.
’Probe.’ Harry thought, activating the skill as he stared at the Elementalist.
[ERROR! Skill level too low!]
He sighed lightly in disappointment, when we saw the system notification in front of him.
Though a part of him already expected something like this to happen, he still hoped to be able to scan Terry’s stats. From what he heard, the man was a stage five Elementalist, so he was quite curious about how his stats would compare to his.
"What matters the most is that you’re okay now." Terry said, breaking Harry out of his thoughts. "The hospital still plan on running some tests on you, to see if you’re really okay, but don’t worry about that, you should be just fine."

Harry heaved a deep sigh of relief as he collapsed on top of his bed, his back sinking gently into the soft foam.
After running a few more tests on him to determine he was fully fit and healthy, the hospital finally discharged him.
To his surprise, Terry didn’t ask as much questions he imagined he would... it seemed like he was the one being too paranoid. However, thinking about everything that had happened... he couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed in himself.
Not only did he fail to even land a single hit on the stage four beast, but he was also careless enough to let Terry learn about his regeneration ability.
The adventurer might have not queried him much about it, and although it didn’t seem like the man had any suspicions about him, his mind still wasn’t at ease.
For some reason, the fact that someone found out about one of the special abilities granted to him by the system didn’t sit well with him.
Apart from that, there was another thing that worried him greatly, and that was what Terry said about multiple rifts opening around Vernil, all at the same time.
Just the thought of multiple high danger level rift opening up all at the same time sent a chill down his spine, and he couldn’t even imagine how much horror that would cause to people.
’Whatever... I shouldn’t bother myself too much with this.’ Harry thought, shaking his head slightly. However, contrary to his words, his expression was still twisted into a frown.
Although the academy was still open, Harry made up his mind not to go today.
Due to the ongoing ranking event, all classes were canceled, so it wasn’t like he had anything to do even if he went.
Nonetheless, he still planned on dropping by the restaurant later today, to at least let them know he was doing okay. As for the rest of the day, they would be spent on training his energy control.
’Host Stats.’ Harry said inwardly, and a set of tabs and characters instantly appeared in front of him.

Looking at his stats, Harry felt an odd sensation wash over him. All his stats were currently above a hundred points, yet he was still weak when compared to mana beast above the fourth stage.
’Just like the other voice said, I shouldn’t worry myself too much about all this... all I should focus on is getting stronger!’ Harry thought, with his brows furrowed slightly in determination.
’I also need to complete my daily quest for today...’ Harry thought, as he closed the system tab.

Harry’s eyes squinted slightly as he walked down the academy hallway. The hallway was scantier than usual as only few students could be seen walking around.
This wasn’t too surprising, since there were no classes today, most students would rather spend their time at home rather than at the academy doing nothing.
As he walked, he noticed the gazes of the students locked in on him, with each one reflecting different emotions.
’Is something wrong... why is everyone staring at me...?’ Harry thought, with a slight frown on his face.
Though he was already used to frequently attracting the attention and gazes of the students in the academy, something about this one just felt different.
"Hey! Harry!!" Suddenly, a loud, yet familiar voice called out to him from behind, breaking him out of his thoughts.
"Huh?" Harry muttered, his brows creasing slightly in surprise, before turning around.
His eyes met with that of a tall, black haired boy, who was waving at him, with a wide smile on his face.
’Nathan?’ Harry thought, instantly recognising him as the weird combat mage who he met a few months ago.
