"Hmmm." Three days later, outside the Blood Serpent Clan’s main gate, two individuals stood with a set of luggage and a look of calm on their faces.

"He’s taking too long," one of the men, an average-sized young man with blonde hair and a pale face, said as he looked up at the sky. The original plan was to set off from BloodRock City before the sun rose, but now they had been standing out here for nearly an hour, and it was starting to get bright.

He wanted to get this over with as fast as possible; being around Kang for too long made him feel a bit overwhelmed and tired.

"We will wait a bit longer," Kang said calmly and with authority. Unlike before, he didn’t radiate the overbearing aura that imposed on others. Rather, his aura was filled with majesty and accomplishment.

He had previously been in a state of mind where he thought he deserved respect and wasn’t given any, but now? He knew for a fact that he was to be respected, so there was no need to force it.

He had completely changed.

As they stood there waiting, a slight tremor began to echo from down the streets.

*Doom doom doom.*

It was a steady tempo that kept increasing in volume as it seemed to draw closer by the minute.

Soon, a line of heavily armed troops appeared on the horizon, moving in their direction. These men were armed to the teeth. They had high-quality spears forged from the purest ores, and their mounts were as sturdy as rocks. Their armor glittered with strange runic symbols, unfamiliar even to Kang.

In fact, this was a troop of extremely high caliber, even amongst the men of the Blood Serpent Clan. And therein lay the problem: there was no such troop in the Blood Serpent Clan, nor any like it in BloodRock City.

Where did these guys come from, and why were they approaching the gates of the Blood Serpent Clan?

"Was this a revolt?" The blonde-haired youth raised his eyebrows in confusion.

"Hmm, have you heard of the individual called the Crimson Raider?" Kang posed a question to the young blonde male out of nowhere.

"Eh? Yes. What does that have to do with anything?" The young man asked, clearly confused. He remembered spectating a battle between this Crimson Raider and a member of the defense unit some months ago.

Liana was her name if he could recall. She was a former branch head who had fought against the mages of Crystal Palace back in Eldoria.

"Well, that’s him right in front of you," Kang said, his eyes landing softly on a figure slowly riding forward from behind the line of men. As he advanced, the men gave way immediately and with composure, as if they knew exactly who this was.

"Good morning, Chief Warden." The young rider in the crimson armor soon came to a halt before Kang and greeted him with a respectful bow.

"Hm!" Kang nodded back. After the Supreme Leader had transferred control of the city into his hands, he had appointed Kang as Chief Warden. Try as the First Elder might, he was no match for Kang after the events at the Yi Mountain Range.

He had no choice but to submit because the Kang who stood before them today had entered the stage of Quasi-Level 5, further legitimizing the power and claim of the Blood Serpent Clan over BloodRock City and its people.

"Oh, it’s you..." The blonde youth looked through the armor surrounding the rider’s face and quickly realized who it was.

Who wouldn’t? He was the cause of the current state of the clan. His show of power and talent had enticed the Golden Griffin Clan’s sovereigns to attempt to poach him, forcing Nephron to reveal his secrets and plans prematurely.

Naturally, this was Leon.

"In the flesh," Leon smirked, seated with an air of grace and pride. After months of planning and countless resources expended, Leon had succeeded in creating a war-worthy troop.

It was a complete shock to those who didn’t know, like Ken here. Normally, the Blood Serpent Clan’s troops in their various squads and (defense and enforcer) units were under the command of the Supreme Leader.

But from the way these men looked and the fact that they were mostly comprised of non-clan members, he had a feeling that they would not listen to the Supreme Leader’s command. They were essentially Leon’s personal troop.

’Interesting, so this is what he spent all that money on…’ Kang thought to himself, rubbing his chin slowly. He was now the Chief Warden of the clan; there was little Leon could do within the clan’s territory that he wouldn’t be aware of.

But since Leon was now of special status, being of the original bloodline and all, he couldn’t pry too easily. All he knew was that Leon was constantly pumping resources into his towers all over the clan, and Nephron had forbidden him from trying to find out.

"This is too flashy, no?" Kang asked Leon out of the corner of his eye.

This was a secret mission. He could understand Leon’s eagerness to go to war—after all, this was what the warlocks all over the sacred lands wanted: to kill mages and hunt them down. But Leon had to see the bigger picture.

"Ah, not at all. The main troop has been deployed on a totally different route. These are just reserves." Leon smiled at Kang.

He was no fool; he understood that there were people out to get them, like the Golden Griffin Clan and its allies. They couldn’t let themselves be spotted on this trip, especially with Quvera in tow.

That was why he brought these men. Just as he knew this was too flashy of a show, the enemy would understand that too.

They would probably focus on a more inconspicuous group than this flashy one.

"Okay." Kang nodded with no objections, then proceeded to climb atop a nearby carriage and set off.

"Forward march," one of the warriors in Leon’s troop stepped forward and commanded. Soon, they resumed their march through BloodRock City.

"Look, the Blood Serpent Clan is sending more troops for the war!" a random passerby pointed out.

"Yes, bring back some mage slaves!" another echoed.

"May the City Lord be with you!"

The sight of the troop of over five hundred men walking toward the city exit thrilled the crowd. Their people had been hunted down by mages for years; now it was their turn to do the hunting.

Meanwhile,

"Hurry up, they’re leaving already!" Arian said in a grumpy tone to Ember.

"Okay, okay, we’re coming," Ember grumbled as she and a brunette in heavy armor rode toward them slowly.
