Malevolent Warlock: Sin Of Eternity-Chapter 268: The One Who Endures
"Don’t let him escape!!!" Ziaman’s voice resounded as he and Drothan blasted through the sky, chasing down the silhouette of the Supreme Leader Nephron.
The Decapitator of old was a Transcendent being like them, having entered the stage of level 5. No matter how Nephron tried, he could only imitate the grandeur of that being who had caused so much worry in the Sacred Lands.
At least, that was what Ziaman thought in his mind, and to that effect, he came to the conclusion that Nephron had stolen the weapon or acquired it through a fortuitous encounter. Unfortunately, in the Sacred Lands, fortune can also be a curse when held in the hands of those who are weaker.
They were not only going to capture Leon and Bran; they would also take the Decapitator’s great sword for their own, even if it meant prying it from Nephron’s lifeless body.

They moved extremely fast, passing through large distances in the blink of an eye, ripping natural structures such as hills and small mountains as if they were paper. It didn’t even take five minutes before they exited the Yi mountain range and entered the dry lands again. The power of beings who had touched the stage of transcendence was laid bare right here.
The mere passing of their figures caused the air to tense up and the skies to darken. The surrounding travelers froze, and the ground shook. They were like living personifications of the forces of nature. With one wave of the hand, it seemed as though the earth itself could flip upside down.
This was the power of those who had touched *that* stage, the stage of transcendence, the stage viewed as that of immortals.
"He can’t keep this up, just keep pushing. We will get him soon," Ziaman said to Drothan, assuring him that this chase would bear fruit.
It had been more than an hour of chasing Nephron, and they had still not caught him. It was naturally frustrating, but they knew that Nephron was only a quasi-level 5 being. It was just a matter of time before he lost his ability to outrun them. After all, the difference between a quasi-level 5 being and a real level 5 being was as great as the difference between heaven and earth.
"Hm!!" Drothan nodded while continuing the chase. Ziaman didn’t know this, but Drothan actually hated Nephron much more deeply than it appeared. That attack just now had really pissed him off as he had taken the full brunt. There was nothing more he wanted than to torture Nephron and his disciples for a hundred years.
Luckily, this wasn’t too far off as he could already feel them slowing down ahead, so he pushed forward, leaving Ziaman in the dust.
"Hold on tight, boys. This is going to be a risky maneuver," Nephron said calmly as they approached a massive mountainous structure standing inconspicuously in the middle of the dry lands.

Increasing his speed slightly, Nephron went headfirst towards the mountain, as if trying to break it apart with his speed. This was, of course, something he could do, but it was not wise since it would drastically slow him down. With how grueling this escape was and the toll it was taking on Leon and Bran, it would be extremely stupid.
Even Drothan was starting to notice it.
But Nephron knew what he was doing. When he was about five meters away from the mountain’s surface, he turned his flight pattern in a way that allowed him to curve around the mountain like a boomerang.
"Stupid!!" Ziaman mocked. If going headfirst was unwise, then this tactic could only be described as foolish, simply because he wasn’t being chased by just one person.
A curve like that would leave him totally unprotected from attacks by Ziaman.
So, as Nephron made that turn, Ziaman prepared to attack him with a barrage of energy… only for him to notice that Nephron had stopped moving abruptly and was waiting.
Ziaman was taken aback for a second—however, when he finally understood what was going on, it was too late.
"Wing Basilisk Curve." Nephron pulled out his massive great sword and swung in the direction of Drothan.
—Slashhhh
In an instant, a painful wail erupted, causing Ziaman to wince.
Nephron had waited, knowing that during the curve there was always a brief moment when the hunter would lose sight of his prey. Albeit it being 0.5 seconds, Nephron used it to pull out his sword and take Drothan’s left arm.
"My arm!!!!!!" Drothan screamed in pain as he held onto his severed arm. He had been careless, and because of that, he had lost his arm.
"Hm?" Ziaman felt the pain as if it was his arm that had been cut off, but he also noticed out of the corner of his eye that Nephron had flown to the top of the mountain and stopped.
"Get in," Nephron banged on the air, and the sound of wood being hit resounded. All of a sudden, a carriage materialized in front of them, and Leon and Bran were thrown inside.
"See you soon," Nephron smiled at Ziaman as he did this, then he proceeded to enter the horseless carriage. Then once again, the carriage disappeared into thin air.
"Nooo!!!" Ziaman blasted forth instantaneously, trying to stop them. But he was too late. The moment that door closed, they were already long gone.
"That…" Ziaman held onto nothing as he fell into a state of deep thought. What had just happened?
"We can’t let them escape. We need to go to Bloodrock City right now!!" Drothan called upon Ziaman with a look of vexation on his face. His arm had been cut off. Someone needed to pay. The children of the Blood Serpent clan needed to die.
"I know, but let’s regroup first. Something’s happening back at the clan," Ziaman said to Drothan as he looked in the direction of Griffin’s Peak.
…
"Sire, the Grand Formation Master Blackwing and his disciples have betrayed the Golden Griffin clan and helped the Blood Serpent scum escape."
"Sire, we’ve mobilized the Tower Guard and are ready to lay siege to the Blood Serpent clan."
"Sire, we are missing several clan treasures."
As Ziaman and Drothan got back to the clan, they were met with a heart-wrenching sight. The Blood Serpent clan members had escaped with the help of Elder Blackwing, who had also stripped the Golden Tower of its foundational formation.
This allowed the other clans to act brazenly in the tower before they were expelled by Thane. They held this competition to show that their strength was stronger than ever, only for a repetition of what happened ten years ago.
"Mobilize everyone. We are going to exterminate the Blood Serpent clan," Drothan commanded. But for some reason, Ziaman was silent, only heading to the top of the tower and into the clan’s secret library.
His wife had given him the key to this place before she passed on, and apparently, it contained knowledge from the history of the entire sacred region.
"Hmm, this one…" Ziaman pulled out a specific book from one of the shelves and placed it on a desk.
"Notable Figures & Treasures in the History of the Sacred Lands," Ziaman muttered. The book had several shades of moss growing on its cover, an indication of its age. This book was a treasure for their clan, as it had been here for God knows how long.
He began flipping through the book, carefully picking out information from several sections pertaining to a particular individual. It took him hours upon hours, but each passing moment was more shocking than the last.

"He who endures, huh…" Ziaman felt a chill run down his spine.
He had uncovered a secret that had been covered up for thousands of years
