Male Lead's Canon Fodder Wife-Chapter 1393: Sudden Confession ( 2 )
Before he could panic, Su Lanying gently tugged his sleeve and said, "I'm fine."
"But your face is so red. Are you really okay?" he asked again.
Lowering her head, she replied softly, "Mhm."
Although still worried, Song Yan didn't dare make a fuss. He knew if he pushed her too much, she would get upset. Don't ask how he knew—he just did.
Before he could ask about her previous question, Su Lide, Meng Qiaoping, and Su Jian had already walked over.
Seeing them approaching, Song Yan whispered to her, "We will talk about our matter later."
Hearing this, Su Lanying felt calmer than before. She nodded softly and said, "Okay."
Song Yan was delighted to see that she no longer rejected him outright like she did in his teacher's house.
Not long after, the Su family arrived. They had already seen him coming together with their daughter and quickly came over to avoid any potential rumors.
"Doctor Song, what brings you here today? Did you happen to meet Ah Ying on the road?" Meng Qiaoping asked.
Encouraged by Su Lanying's earlier response, Song Yan no longer acted as cautiously as before. He smiled at her and replied, "Aunt Su, I came with Lanying. There is something I want to discuss with you and Uncle Su."
Hearing this, Su Lide looked at him and asked curiously, "Doctor Song, what important matter brought you here so suddenly?"
"It's about Lanying's treatment."
As soon as he said this, the Su family was surprised.
"Doctor Song, let's talk while having lunch," Su Lide said.
With that invitation, Song Yan successfully joined the Su family's lunch. The meal was simple yet filling.
The staple was buckwheat steamed buns shaped like flowers, with red jujubes in the center. It looks beautiful. The side dishes included stir-fried pickled vegetables with pork slices, smashed cucumber salad, and fish soup.
Compared to other families, their meal could be considered quite luxurious. With Su Lanying's cooking skills, every dish was delicious and satisfying.
Though she couldn't cook anything that required a lot of stamina, she could still prepare simple homemade dishes.
Due to his upbringing, Song Yan focused on eating and didn't speak much during meals. But even with his fast eating pace, he still looked elegant and composed. If not for how quickly the food disappeared, no one would've guessed he had such a big appetite.
The Su family members watched him eat in shock, exchanging baffled glances. For a moment, they doubted whether being a doctor really made that much money.
If he truly earned a good living, why did he eat like he hadn't seen food in days?
Compared to her parents and brother, Su Lanying was even more stunned. He had just finished a bowl of mung bean soup at her house, yet he was still eating so much.
Seeing him almost choke, she poured a bowl of fish soup and said, "Eat slowly. No one is going to snatch your food."
Song Yan drank the soup and let out a satisfied sigh before grinning at her as he said, "Your cooking is too delicious—I can't help it."
Facing his smile, Su Lanying began to question herself. Was it really wise to be with someone like him? He did not seem as mature as she thought.
After lunch, they tidied up the utensils and drank some cold tea. After a while, Su Lide finally asked, "Doctor Song, about the matter you mentioned earlier—?"
Hearing this, Song Yan straightened up and took an envelope from his pocket. He handed it to Su Lide and said, "Uncle Su, I'm sorry for overstepping and handling Lanying's medical matters on my own."
"This is the government's approval document for a full donation to cover Lanying's treatment. Unlike regular donations, your family won't receive the funds directly. Instead, the government will pay for all of her testing, surgery, and post-operative care."
"It's not that I don't trust you or your family, but the amount is too high for the government to issue as cash. So, this was the best route we could take. Besides that, I have invited two renowned cardiologists—one from the capital and one from abroad."
"The doctor from the capital has already confirmed that he will come to examine Lanying at the end of the month. As for the international specialist, it will take a few months before he can arrive in the country."
"Before that, I would like your permission to admit Lanying to the hospital for a pre-checkup and some preliminary tests ahead of the surgery."
The Su family was stunned by his words. The sudden news was too much to take in all at once.
After a long pause, Su Lide finally asked, "Doctor Song, are you saying my daughter's illness can be cured?"
Song Yan nodded and replied firmly, "Although I can't give a 100% guarantee, with those two specialists leading the surgery, I can assure you there is at least a 95% to 98% chance of success." fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Hearing this, Meng Qiaoping's eyes reddened, and she let out a choked sob. Seeing her mother cry, Su Lanying sighed and said helplessly, "Mother, isn't this good news? Why are you crying?"
Meng Qiaoping covered her face and cried for a while before finally calming down. She wiped her tears and said hoarsely, "Doctor Song, I have made a fool of myself."
Song Yan smiled gently and replied, "Aunt Su, it's alright."
After soothing his wife, Su Lide turned to Song Yan with gratitude and said, "Doctor Song, thank you. Without your help, there is no way we could have secured that kind of support from the government, let alone bring in such specialists. You are a great benefactor to our Su family."
Feeling a bit overwhelmed by his words of gratitude, Song Yan quickly waved his hand and replied, "Uncle Su, your words are too heavy. I did it partly for myself."
The Su family was taken aback by this. Su Jian looked at him and asked, "Doctor Song, what do you mean by that?"
