Magnate Tycoon: How Did Simply Enjoying Life Make Me a Male God?-Chapter 81 The Unrequited Love of an Ordinary Person
Chapter 81: Chapter 81 The Unrequited Love of an Ordinary Person
After they finished the Western meal, the waiter respectfully approached with the card machine: "Sir, that’s a total of five thousand six hundred, including a ten percent service fee."
An Tong heard that and, even though she was mentally prepared, couldn’t help but change her expression.
Even though she felt a bit embarrassed, she just sat quietly in her spot without any intention of stepping forward to pay.
Because she couldn’t afford this meal, or rather, she was unwilling to spend such money.
Five thousand six was equivalent to most of her monthly salary.
In her view of consumption, no matter how good this meal was, it was far from worth the cost.
Zhang Xinxin might still manage to take photos and share them on social media, gaining extra emotional value from this meal.
But for An Tong, this meal was merely a somewhat upscale dish, and she couldn’t think of any reason to spend so much money beyond that.
Seeing Li Jing calmly settling the bill, An Tong’s ears turned slightly red, feeling a bit ashamed that Li Jing treated her every time.
She bit her lip slightly and only spoke softly after the waiter left: "Li Jing, you really don’t need to come to such fancy restaurants every time. I’d already be happy enough just having a meal with you at a normal place."
Upon hearing this, Li Jing glanced at her slightly flushed cheeks amusingly: "No worries, just small change, don’t think too much about it."
"But even if it’s just once, you’ve already treated me multiple times, and I don’t have money to treat you..."
An Tong considered it over and over, still thinking it wasn’t right to spend so much of Li Jing’s money, "They say you shouldn’t accept favors without cause; with our relationship, you really don’t need to spend so much..."
"Our relationship?"
Li Jing raised an eyebrow, catching the key in her words: "Then what kind of relationship do you think allows me to spend this much?"
"Of course, being a couple."
An Tong said as a matter of course: "If we were a couple, though it wouldn’t be right to always let you spend, at least psychologically I’d be more accepting. But we’re just friends, and you’re always spending money, which I feel isn’t quite proper."
Watching An Tong’s serious look, Li Jing laughed, especially when the system in his mind awarded him a fifty-six thousand reward, he shook his head and thought:
If An Tong knew he didn’t spend five thousand six but rather earned fifty-six thousand, he wondered if she’d still feel embarrassed.
The thought flashed through his mind before Li Jing joked again: "If you feel embarrassed, then just be my girlfriend. I promise not to reject."
Upon hearing this, An Tong’s face first flashed with surprise, she immediately looked into his eyes, but soon realized his intention, and snorted coldly: "Girlfriend? You mean to be one of your girlfriends, right?"
Li Jing, caught by her guess, wasn’t at all embarrassed. Instead, as he walked with her out of the restaurant, he shrugged: "Even as one of my girlfriends, my standards are high, not just any woman can pass."
As the words fell, An Tong’s eyes twirled, she then lightly curled her lips and retorted: "What about Zhang Xinxin? Did she meet your standards?"
Seeing Zhang Xinxin brought up, Li Jing, who was about to continue teasing, immediately froze his smile, knowing answering this question in front of An Tong was definitely a death sentence.
His mind rapidly turned several times before he answered earnestly: "Zhang Xinxin is very pretty, but there’s one thing she doesn’t compare to you."
Initially waiting for Li Jing’s answer, An Tong was instantly distracted upon hearing this, curiously asked: "What thing?"
"I told you, don’t tell Zhang Xinxin."
"Oh come on, do you think I’m Zhang Xinxin? Hurry up, tell me."
"Hmm, your features are slightly prettier than hers."
"Really?"
As the words fell, An Tong just leaving the restaurant door, her eyes brightened, she stopped and questioned Li Jing with narrowed eyes, disbelief: "You’re just trying to make me happy, right?"
"Absolutely not deceiving you, heartfelt words."
Li Jing stood in the courtyard outside the restaurant, face full of sincerity, looking as if he was about to swear.
He was indeed speaking the truth, in terms of facial features, if Zhang Xinxin could score nine points, An Tong could at least score nine point three, which was indeed An Tong’s advantage.
Yet that was just for facial features, if considering Zhang Xinxin’s figure, and her occasional special service, adding all these aspects, Zhang Xinxin would have a slight edge.
But comparing like that wasn’t fair, since An Tong hadn’t fully displayed her talents after all.
Thinking this, Li Jing subconsciously glanced at An Tong’s figure, feeling inexplicably heated.
Realizing Li Jing’s heated gaze, An Tong’s face changed initially, sought to avoid his gaze by turning sideways subconsciously.
Yet thinking that she seemed inferior to Zhang Xinxin here, covering up would make it worse, An Tong immediately turned back, pretended not to notice, subtly pushed out her chest.
Originally just with a purpose of appreciation, Li Jing noticed her chest-raising motion, eyes widening at the sight of her snow-white peak between the neckline, his mind heated, nearly having a nosebleed.
Though not as outstandingly developed as Zhang Xinxin, An Tong was still well-nourished.
Though each harbored hundreds of minds trying to probe, it was actually just a mere few minutes.
As Li Jing walked to his Maserati, he found An Tong turning her head, looking in another direction.
Following her gaze, Li Jing saw it was a seafood buffet restaurant.
He had seen this restaurant online before. Although the price couldn’t compare to the Western restaurant they had just eaten at, it still cost around 500 per person.
At that moment, a group of young men were coming out of the seafood buffet restaurant, arm in arm, faces flushed, clearly having drunk quite a bit.
"I say, Junzi, there are plenty of fish in the sea, why be fixated on just one? It’s your birthday today, cheer up and stop being such a bore."
"Yeah, and although An Tong got into a Maserati, you’re not sure about her relationship with the guy, right? Maybe they’re just friends or relatives?"
"Exactly, didn’t you say An Tong smiled at you today? That means you’ve still got a chance! Ask us, among all of us, who else has An Tong smiled at? Only you!"
"Hey, Junzi, I’m talking to you, did you hear me? Just a guy with a Maserati chasing An Tong, no need to be scared.
We’ve got your back! It’s just a sports car, what’s the... hey, why are you pulling me!"
"Stop talking, it seems like An Tong is over there."
Upon hearing this, the man speaking frowned slightly, drunkenly glanced towards the roadside, then was taken aback, seeing An Tong’s stunning figure in a red dress—sobering up a bit: "Holy crap, An Tong’s outfit is amazing, is she wearing it specially for that guy?"
"I friggin’ told you to shut up, Junzi is right there, didn’t you know?"
Scolded quietly by a co-worker, he snapped back to reality, noticing Wang Jun frozen in place, his expression shifted slightly. Though wanting to say something, he didn’t know how to start given the situation.
And at this moment, Wang Jun, seeing An Tong and Li Jing laughing and chatting, felt terribly uncomfortable, as if someone had a fist gripping his heart, continuously squeezing and twisting.
Seeing this, several other colleagues exchanged looks, keeping quiet. Just moments ago, they were boldly trash-talking Li Jing behind his back, trying to make Wang Jun feel better.
But when Li Jing appeared before them, they emerged from their fantasies, realizing the significant reality gap between themselves and him.
Let alone anything else, standing beside An Tong, Li Jing may not be the perfect match, but they complement each other harmoniously.
But should any of them stand next to An Tong now, not just the passersby, even they themselves would feel embarrassed, sensing they don’t match her.
"Hey Junzi... I heard there’s a new KTV nearby, why don’t we head there instead, stop heading this way."
One person spoke up, with others immediately chiming in: "Yeah, yeah, that KTV seems to have discounts around now, great value!"
"Not just discounts, they’re giving a free round of beer, we could get a medium room, just perfect for us!"
"Right, and Junzi doesn’t need to spend a dime, we’ll all chip in. Consider it a birthday celebration for Junzi!"
Feeling his colleagues pulling his arm, Wang Jun remained rooted, their comforting words seeming like noise, bypassed by his ears.
With a blank mind, he watched Li Jing and An Tong joyfully chatting until An Tong turned and saw him, their eyes meeting; he snapped out of his daze, turning his head away quickly.
Noting An Tong still watching him, Wang Jun’s mind was a mess, he hurriedly turned and spoke to his colleagues: "Uh, what were you saying about KTV just now? Let’s go, we’re going to KTV now!"
Others also noticed An Tong looking their way, with expressions shifting slightly, quickly nodding: "Ah yes, KTV, we’re going to KTV!"
Once again, the group threw their arms around each other, pretending as if nothing had happened, turning and heading in another direction.
To ease the atmosphere, some colleagues began to sing out loud, making the scene lively.
Only Wang Jun, after pretending to be calm and walking a few steps, couldn’t help but sneak a glance back, seeing An Tong and Li Jing getting into the Maserati—his heart ached, feeling as if his soul was emptied.
In the midst of the singing and embrace from his colleagues, he lowered his head slightly and clenched his fists, repeatedly cursing himself as pathetic and cowardly.
But eventually, he gently released his hands, looking at the bustling street and night view by the river, as if coming to some realization, smirking bitterly at himself:
I’m really foolish, how could someone like me ever be with a woman like her...
Immediately, he exhaled deeply, suddenly shouting, "You guys were right, there are plenty of fish in the sea, I’ll be fine with someone else! Tonight I’m treating, we won’t go home sober!"
His sudden shout startled his colleagues, exchanging glances, knowing Wang Jun was truly intending to forget An Tong, they responded one by one:
"Alright, we won’t go home sober! Forget An Tong!"
"Forget An Tong!"
"Happy breakup, be happy, you’ll find someone better!"
Someone led in song, with others joining in chorus, Wang Jun also sang loudly along.
"Don’t want to face the winter, tired of the heavy burden, let’s fly to tropical islands to swim..."
The song was off-key yet loud, catching the attention of nearby passersby.
However, several grown men were oblivious to the surrounding glances, still arm in arm, singing passionately.
They were not only comforting Wang Jun but seemed to also be comforting themselves, much like Wang Jun...
