Chapter 112 - Argument

"You were stalked by a vampire... How terrifying!" shuddered Cedric on the go.

Emily didn't say anything, but her concerned expression showed how she felt.

Cyril explained this event the best he could, though he only vaguely spoke about how the fight went down.

"I didn't even know vampires were real..." Finally added Emily. Her voice shaking a bit in the process.

Though she quickly accepted this new knowledge, in the city of magic, a bloodsucker is not the most unusual thing one can encounter.

"It's a good thing knights found you when they did." Cedric said with relief, "Lately people talk bad about them, but they still seem to be reliable."

"At least you got to see another knight in action! That's a pretty good experience, if anything," he finished saying this with a smile. Possibly an attempt to lighten the mood.

Cyril only nodded in response. While Cedric saying that slightly made him upset for whatever reason, he did gain a lot from this encounter, or rather, Rhamn did.

She still voiced from time to time her new findings about what she can do.

Acquiring the structure of that 'vampire virus' has opened the doors to her for many abilities.

...

While they were walking down the stone path, Emily and Cedric talked about knights.

It seems Emily wasn't too fond of them and offered a rebuttal to Cedric's earlier praise. They began going back and forth, arguing whether knights were honorable protectors of the people or corrupt weapons of the wealthy.

Not interested in listening to that, Cyril instead focused on Rhamn.

In theory, can you use this 'vampire virus' to turn other people? He asked with interest.

"Of course. However, I'm not sure how to make the other person your loyal servant—that might require a few experiments," she quickly replied.

Cyril briefly considered the feasibility of such experiments but quickly denied them. Aside from legal restrictions, he morally couldn't support such actions for now.

Maybe if the target is a heinous criminal...

"Alright..." Rhamn replied somewhat disappointed but quickly switched back to enthusiasm, "There is another thing I got from this that's related to blood."

"Can I do a showcase for effect?" She asked with shining eyes.

Sure... Cyril consented, intrigued.

Soon he felt something on the palm of his hand. Once he looked at it, he discovered a single droplet of blood had seeped through his skin.

Morpho and Tigris started paying attention too; it seemed like Rhamn was currently speaking to them as well.

"Because earlier, a small part of your body did turn vampiric, I discovered a fascinating fact," Rhamn said with her hands behind her, looking like a businesswoman about to do a presentation. Her suit only adding to the impression.

She raised her hand from behind her back and snapped her fingers in a dramatic fashion.

Immediately the droplet of blood began moving around. It did a spin, snapped to the sides as if dancing, and moved in a circle.

Cyril stared at this with a hesitating look. So you can control my blood?

He didn't find it too impressive... Rhamn already could alter his body in various unusual ways.

At this moment Rhamn smiled triumphantly and explained, "I can control anything that is a part of your body, yes. But can blood be considered a part of your body when it is outside?"

"Before, once the blood was outside, it 'died' in a way and was no longer under my control. Now that is not the case." She smugly said and grew silent, as if awaiting applause.

Morpho and Tigris cooperated, each showing awe in different ways.

This even caused Cedric and Emily to pay attention here, though they only thought Cyril was playing with his pets and quickly returned to their argument.

That's neat, I guess. Dryly reacted Cyril.

Can you turn my body into a dark cloud like that vampire did back in the zoo? Cyril thought it was a very convenient ability, suitable for both defense and offense.

"Well... I guess that was more of a spell that utilized a vampire's unique body... So no, not yet at least," Rhamn said with dodgy eyes.

...Can you now create a weapon made of blood? He switched his attention to another convenient ability.

Maybe if he made a weapon made of his own blood, he would be able to use Heavenly Dragon's Judgement together with it, completely solving his current fighting style problem.

Rhamn froze, her expression quickly turning awkward.

"It's theoretically possible... But the amount of blood required to make a spear is simply too much. I don't know how that woman so effortlessly made a sword; maybe there is a trick to it. And if so, I don't know it." Something resembling shame appeared on her face.

... Don't worry about it. What you discovered is already impressive enough.

Cyril even felt the need to console Rhamn at the moment. Though that only brought her more shame, and she directly disappeared from his sight.

"You'll see! That is a very useful ability!"

I am looking forward to it.

The droplet of blood seeped back into his skin, leaving no mark behind.

Cyril moved his hand and didn't discover anything different about his body.

Luckily, as Cyril has finished talking with the voices in his head, Emily and Cedric seem to be almost done with their argument.

"What you say is fair, but I believe every group of people possesses a certain amount of 'bad apples' among them." Cedric said with pure eyes.

"Whenever knights do something good—well, that is only to be expected of them; no one even mentions it. But when a bad apple among them does something unsavory, suddenly it becomes the biggest sensation in the world." His voice was filled with conviction.

It looked like he sincerely believed what he spoke and didn't want to hear the knights being brought down.

Emily quickly rebutted with a frown, "It's only natural people pay more attention to the bad. Knights are supposed to be our protectors. How can the Empire let 'bad apples' enter such a prestigious group? Besides, with so many of them there, it makes one wonder if there is something wrong with the knights at their core as an organization."

They each said their final piece and turned away from each other, both keeping their arms crossed and gaze to the side.

At least it was quiet now.
