Mage Legend-Chapter 838 - 61:
Lynch spoke in a calm tone, slowly saying, "This spell is very similar to the ones Great Arcanists used to create soldiers during the God-slaying War. I believe that it is a technique that the serpent learned from an Ancient Demon Statue called Finder. If that's the case, we have no way to reverse this process."
"Does that mean we are hopeless? Even our brave sacrifices would only strengthen the enemy?" The southern lord stood up, pounding the table forcefully. "I am not forcing anyone, but if you can't even protect yourselves, I will have to find another way to ensure my people's survival!"
"Are you suggesting surrendering to the serpents?!" Wislin sprang up, shouting loudly. "During the war, why did the serpent army launch a sneak attack from behind us? And who leaked the intelligence about the defenses of the All-Knowing Tower and the Five Realms Fortress?"
"You're making unfounded accusations!" the young lord roared. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"We found witnesses; and after the serpents retreated, we attacked their troops and found ample evidence!" Wislin said, "The knights stood tall against the enemy, only to be stabbed in the back!"
"Silence! Maintain order!" Ista shouted, "We are here today to solve problems, not to argue!"
"I agree with that, Lord Mayor." Lynch, however, looked at Wislin and said, "Even if he truly is a spy, letting him hear how he will be destroyed is also quite interesting, isn't it?"
"So it seems you already have a way to destroy the serpents?" The lord flicked the cloak behind him and sat heavily in his chair. Then he added in an odd tone, "Dear Mage?"
"Please do not address me that way, my lord, or you may find yourself facing unimaginable dangers!" Lynch's expression was calm and indisputable. He continued, "The Mage Association can offer very limited help because we've always had a shortage of members. Moreover, mages are not fighters, being on the battlefield is not our primary duty."
"But you are here, so you must have your plans and purposes." Ista said, "Although Haisas is not welcoming to mages, it welcomes all merchants. Mr. Lynch, what goods do you have, and what kind of price are you asking for?"
"That depends on the outcome of the meeting," Lynch said, "I believe in wisdom, especially the kind that is discussed calmly among a group of people. I simply want to know, without the Mage Association, how do you plan to deal with this?"
"We in Haisas will not hand over our land to the serpents! I believe the majority of those present think the same way," Ista said. "As I say this, I'm not merely speaking as a city lord, but under the authorization of the highest Governance Council, representing all of Haisas. But please believe, Haisas alone is not enough to secure victory."
"Exactly! Just like Haisas, Ien faces the same threat. We have enough people and enough determination, but we lack the weapons to win! We will not stand idly by and watch our soldiers get killed by serpents and then turned into serpents to slaughter their brothers and sisters."
"Therefore, we need Dwarf Bombs!" Ista said. "This is currently the only safe way to massively eliminate the serpent threat."
With the exception of the Elf Clan representative, all attendees nodded in agreement. Everyone had already heard about the raid conducted by the All-Knowing Tower and learned from various channels about the astonishing power of Dwarf Bombs in defending the Five Realms Fortress.
How wonderful it would be to have hundreds of Dwarf Bombs! And once the blueprint for manufacturing Dwarf Bombs is obtained, it would mean taking the initiative in the entire war – at least, that is what most of the attendees thought.
The Half-Elf General stood up and said to everyone, "Besides Dwarf Bombs, we have two other weapons. In Pate, the Paladins still have some power to attack, and the Bear Cavalry is not just what you've seen so far. In addition to the blade, we have the help of Light God Pate, who will lead us to victory!"
"But isn't the great serpent also considered a god?" the young lord said. "I would rather believe in Dwarf Bombs than put my hopes on the rumors about that Savior."
"That is the future foreseen by our Empress." The Elf representative, disliking the lord's peculiar tone, frowned and said, "Her Majesty's foresight has never been wrong, and it's certainly not a mere rumor!"
