Madam, Please Behave-Chapter 325: Dad, Stop Talking
Liu Zhiyue was feeling pretty miserable.
Sitting in the back seat, his left hand held high with the IV bottle, while his right arm still had the needle stuck in — the posture was far from comfortable.
Even though his dad was a skilled driver, sitting like this wasn’t exactly pleasant.
Fortunately, the ride from the hospital to home didn’t take too long. After enduring about twenty minutes, Liu Zhiyue finally made it to their building.
Liu Changqing parked the car and got out first. He helped his son out of the back seat, then grabbed the groceries they’d bought that morning.
When Zhao Xuanwen had called, they had just finished shopping. Thankfully, they’d already bought most of what they needed. As soon as they found out their son was sick, they rushed back.
They hadn’t had time to bring the bags upstairs earlier, so now Liu Changqing carried everything in one go.
After shutting the car door, he followed behind his son, lugging a ton of groceries, watching him climb the stairs step by step while holding the IV bottle aloft.
When they reached the door, he called out a few times.
Hearing the voices, An Yuanyao rushed to open it. Seeing the father and son standing outside, she clearly got a shock.
Once she snapped out of it, she quickly stepped forward to take the IV bottle from Liu Zhiyue, who looked a lot better but was still clearly feeling down.
“What happened? Why are you back already, and still holding this…”
“Babe, make lunch a bit bigger today — we got a lot of groceries.”
Liu Changqing cut in, answering before she could finish asking.
Even though his mind had gone wild at the hospital earlier, once he calmed down, he realized he had overthought things.
The reason he brought Liu Zhiyue home with the IV still attached was because the kid’s physical condition was really solid. After just one bag of fluid, his fever was already going down.
Liu Changqing had asked the doctor before making the decision — and only after getting the green light did he act.
Besides…
There were hungry mouths at home — his wife, his daughter, and his son’s classmate — and a pregnant An Yuanyao had been strictly banned from stepping into the kitchen.
So he really had no choice but to come home.
Standing nearby, Zhao Xuanwen looked visibly relieved when she saw them return. After a moment’s hesitation, she walked over to An Yuanyao and softly said,
“Auntie… let me hold this for you.”
She took the IV bottle from her.
At that moment, Liu Changqing, arms full of groceries, glanced at Zhao Xuanwen, now back in her own clothes. After a beat, he said,
“Xuanwen, sorry to trouble you for a bit. Just one more bag left to go — take Zhiyue and sit on the sofa for a while.”
“Okay, Uncle.”
Watching her hold the bottle and lead Liu Zhiyue to the couch, Liu Changqing turned to An Yuanyao and said,
“Let’s go to the kitchen.”
Then he called to his daughter nearby:
“Xiazhi, close the door and go keep your brother company. Watch some TV together.”
“Got it!”
Hearing her dad’s instructions, Liu Xiazhi responded cheerfully. She looked genuinely happy that her big brother hadn’t died.
After watching her go close the door, Liu Changqing headed for the kitchen with the groceries. An Yuanyao followed closely behind, the two of them moving like they were on some top-secret mission.
Once inside, Liu Changqing put the bags down in the corner, then walked past An Yuanyao and peeked around the kitchen door.
He saw all the kids sitting on the couch, then turned back quickly and moved in close to his wife.
Noticing his move, An Yuanyao panicked a little. She instinctively pressed her hands against Liu Changqing’s chest and turned her face away, her voice tinged with shyness.
“Xuanwen’s here too… watch your image…”
“…”
Liu Changqing froze for a second, then quickly whispered,
“What are you thinking?!”
He removed her hands from his chest and leaned in, suddenly serious.
“When I called you from the hospital, you said Zhao Xuanwen told you she accidentally got her clothes wet, which is why she took them off and wore Zhiyue’s, right?”
“Yeah… why?”
“That’s the problem. I thought about it on the way home. Xuanwen might be naive, sure — but not that naive. And it was just the two of them at home… she ended up wearing Zhiyue’s clothes…”
“Hmm…”
An Yuanyao froze for a second, and then a possibility flashed across her mind — her expression changed to one of shock.
Her eyes widened as she stared at Liu Changqing.
“You mean… they did something they shouldn’t have, and Xuanwen lied to me?”
“No, not necessarily. I just think… at their age, we should probably start talking to them about this stuff. Boys and girls — there are boundaries. And if something does happen later on, that’s a big problem.”
“So…”
“So, should we give them a little biology lesson tonight? I mean, Xiazhi still thinks babies are handed out by the hospital…”
“……”
Silence.
An Yuanyao wasn’t sure how to respond to Liu Changqing’s suggestion.
She knew full well that kids at that age couldn’t fully distinguish right from wrong. And if their hormones got the better of them… who knows what might happen.
And Zhiyue — he was really exceptional.
Just yesterday, that girl named Zhang Yunjing had kissed him on the cheek. Today, Zhao Xuanwen was wearing his clothes. And there was also Zhou Shiyan, Lan Yixian’s daughter.
All three girls were pretty. What if…
That thought made An Yuanyao suddenly nervous. Her mind spun with a thousand possibilities, and finally, she gave her answer.
She agreed that Liu Changqing — as the father — should talk to Liu Zhiyue. As for their daughter Liu Xiazhi, they’d leave her out of it for now. She was still so young.
An Yuanyao didn’t want her innocent little heart being tainted. When the time was right, she’d tell her everything herself — probably on the day she got married.
In the end, the husband and wife reached an agreement in the kitchen. Liu Changqing would talk to their son, and An Yuanyao would wait until Xiazhi was older. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
With that settled, Liu Changqing shooed his wife out of the kitchen and firmly rejected her offer to help with the cooking.
Then he started preparing lunch.
Meanwhile, a slightly miffed An Yuanyao snuck to the side and watched the three kids on the couch like a hawk.
She didn’t stop watching them until lunch was ready.
After the meal, Liu Zhiyue headed back to his room to rest. Zhao Xuanwen said a quick goodbye and left for home.
The innocent and clueless Liu Xiazhi, full and satisfied, began enjoying her weekend — watching TV until late afternoon. Only when the sun began to set did she finally pull out her homework and start scribbling furiously.
As for Liu Changqing, once night fell, he walked into his son’s room.
That night, he gave his son the talk. Along with a crash course in teenage values — and a firm warning against improper relationships.
That night… Liu Zhiyue’s entire face was beet red.
At just fifteen years old, he found himself bombarded with knowledge no teenager should be forced to hear. Even hiding under the blanket and covering his ears wasn’t enough to block out his father’s voice, still droning on beside him:
“Son, you gotta remember… any relationship that doesn’t have marriage as its goal — that’s just messing around! You can’t go doing stupid things all confused! As a man, you have to take responsibility for your actions. So you must, must be careful. You can’t just—”
“Dad, please stop talking!!!”
His shout echoed out of the room and into the living room, where Liu Xiazhi — still working on her homework — suddenly froze mid-sentence.
At just ten years old, she had no idea… what her father could possibly be saying to her big brother.
