Chapter 598 Expensive Food

Luis was serving them with great enthusiasm, originally thinking that his sisters-in-law were still young and, not having been stimulated by society, their vanity wouldn't be that strong.

He was showing might not have much effect, but it turned out he was overthinking it; they were no longer children, and he couldn't treat them as such.

Besides, what Blanche said was very true: while the city's best high school was indeed excellent, the culture of comparison was even more severe, even though over half of the students were academic elites.

But honestly, aside from students from humble backgrounds, many of those top students came from well-off families. Their families could afford all sorts of tutors, using money to pile up their grades.

And there were quite a few sponsored students whose grades were a bit lacking, but their families were simply wealthy.

So while the school was strict, the atmosphere wasn't necessarily simple. Luis remembered Blanche saying that the kids studying there didn't wear a single pair of shoes that cost less than 50 dollars.

It just so happened that his sisters-in-law and Avery hadn't crossed that line, so Luis specifically bought them both sneakers costing several hundred dollars, further closing the distance between them.

"Brother-in-law, you really know how to set up the lighting."

After the two young girls finished taking pictures with the wine bottles, his sister-in-law Leah was overjoyed, flashing her brother-in-law a sweet smile.

"Godfather, you're so great. If it were my mom, she'd kill me for spending this much on a meal and taking pictures like this."

Avery was also visibly moved as she spoke.

Leah stuck out her tongue in embarrassment, giving her brother-in-law a sweet smile, and said, "My mom would yell even worse. This is purely delaying her from eating a hot meal."

Before they knew it, the dark beer and Angel's Kiss cocktails were finished. A charming flush of wine had already appeared on their faces, making them look even sweeter and more endearing under the lights.

The dishes were almost all served, and they ate to their hearts' content, chattering away and posting on their Moments at the same time.

The location tag was correct, and the first picture was particularly showy: a hand holding a dark beer mug with the caption: "This cup is almost 6 dollars and so bitter, I really don't know what's so great about beer."

It seemed no woman could escape this kind of vain flexing.

The effect of Luis was obvious. Young girls couldn't resist this kind of meticulous gentleness and consideration.

Once he opened the red wine and poured it for them, they didn't show any sign of objection at all. Instead, Leah said coquettishly with a hint of allure, "You perverted brother-in-law, making us drink so much. You're not trying to get me drunk so you can do bad things with Avery, are you?"

"Careful, or I'll tell my second sister and have her come catch you in the act."

Of course, this was a joke, the kind that even Avery, the one involved, wouldn't believe.

Luis grabbed his sister-in-law's soft, jade-like hand, caressing it as he chuckled wickedly, "Brother-in-law wants to do bad things with you too. If your second sister catches us, I'll get a divorce and take you both far away, how about that?"

"You wouldn't dare... I don't want to run away with you."

Leah glanced at her blushing, excited best friend, then at her brother-in-law, and lowered her voice, "Brother-in-law, don't make jokes like that. You know how much my sister loves you. You can't abandon her."

"Of course not. Your brother-in-law isn't that kind of person."

Luis used his silver tongue to flatter both of them until they felt light-headed. After all, they were young girls without much social experience, so they were relatively easy to please.

Added to that was the luxurious environment, the romantic music, and the meticulous attentiveness; it was the kind of situation where the wine alone wasn't intoxicating, but the atmosphere made them feel tipsy.

They cursed their classmates and teachers, and Luis cursed right along with them, even finding new angles to criticize even more harshly.

This approach worked best. They were as happy as if they'd found a kindred spirit, chatting more and more with Luis, thoroughly delighted.

Before they realized it, the entire bottle of red wine was gone. Split three ways, it wasn't actually that much, but they had already drunk the dark beer and cocktails earlier. Now, their eyes held a misty, dazed look.

Their stomachs were full, but their spirits were still high. In fact, their enthusiasm for drinking seemed even greater than Luis's, which was a pleasant surprise for him.

"Let's go back to the room to drink!"

His suggestion was shyly accepted. After all, since they had come this far, they might as well enjoy themselves thoroughly.

The manager led the way to the ocean-view suite. As soon as they entered, they couldn't help but gasp in amazement. The room was huge, at least around a thousand square feet.

In the center was a custom-made king-size bed, almost as big as two double beds combined. The bathroom was also exceptionally spacious, bright, and luxurious.

"This is so amazing!"

They ran to the floor-to-ceiling windows cheering, then sat down in the chairs by the window, happily taking pictures of the night view with their phones.

All evening, Luis had been subtly appealing to their budding vanity, and it seemed quite successful. Before long, food ordered from the restaurant was also brought in on a service cart.

Western-style dishes came on large plates with small portions, emphasizing delicacy over quantity. They weren't really full, so continuing to eat and drink wasn't a problem.

"So beautiful."

In addition, there was an even more extravagant seafood platter. The seafood platters found elsewhere usually contain ordinary items available at any market.

But this one had king crab, giant spider crab, mantis shrimp, huge tiger prawns...

Leah said a bit nervously, "Brother-in-law, that's so much food. It must be really expensive. What if we can't finish it?"

Luis seized the opportunity to hold her hand, looking at her with affectionate eyes. "As long as you two can take even one bite of these things, they have value. You are the priceless treasures in my heart."

"So annoying! You're such a liar!"

His sister-in-law shyly lowered her head, but this time, she didn't pull her hand away.

"Hey, hey, if you two are going to hook up, don't do it right in front of me."

This time, Avery pouted, as if jealous, and said, "Don't you know about first come, first served? I was here first."

"What, do you think this is the olden days? My second sister still has to agree whether she'll take you as a concubine."

They joked around happily, still taking pictures, selecting angles with great excitement.

They could post to their Moments many times. Posting everything all at once would be a waste, so they chattered seriously about the strategy.

"Leah, Avery, cheers!"

Luis raised his glass. This time, they were drinking red wine again; he had ordered two bottles. They raised their glasses joyfully and clinked them.

"Oh no... I forgot to block my mom!"
