Chapter 81: Chapter 81: The great changes
As he stood in front of the closet mirror, still naked he found himself staring at a reflection that wasn’t just unfamiliar.
It was unreal.
His formerly lean and wiry frame had transformed into statuesque. His torso was chiseled with perfectly defined abs.
Each one like it had been carved with a blade, his chest was broad, and his shoulder was sharp, tapering down into a solid V-line waist.
His once smooth but plain complexion now gleamed with a healthy glow, no more pimple, acne, and even the blackheads cannot be found anymore.
It’s as if years of stress and teenage skin had been erased overnight. His once sharp brown now complemented a mix of dark and gold-tinged eyes that gleamed with unnatural light.
Not to brag, but even his jawline had tightened into a form that would make idols jealous.
"Wow, my abs are really rock hard," he said, poking them.
And yes, they were as solid as stone, leaving him in disbelief at the transformation.
"And wait, did my invincible dragon seriously, grown too?" as he looked down at his lower part making him speechless.
There was no denying it. He had become the image of peak male beauty, easily a 10 out of 10, effortlessly crossing the line from ’handsome’ to intimidatingly perfect.
His earlier self, which is a solid 8 by his own standards, with black hair, an average nose, and eagle-like eyes was now gone.
What stood in front of the mirror now was someone that looked like a genetically engineered warrior, drawn straight out of fantasy and cyberpunk dreams.
"When did this happen?" he growled at himself.
Everything had changed, and the panic started to rise until it suddenly hit him.
"Don’t tell me it’s that Kinetic Energy Flow," he uttered, deep in thought.
That strange moment earlier when his entire body vibrated, his bones hummed, it had to be the trigger.
And the gooey black sludge he had scrubbed off in the shower, that wasn’t dirt. That must be the germs on himself.
But he didn’t fully believe it, as it didn’t make sense unless it was the result of his cultivation just now.
Still, he needed confirmation from the system, so he asked, "Umm, system, can you explain to me? Did I somehow possess another body? Or this is still the original?"
[No host, you didn’t.]
"Then why don’t you take a look at myself? This is not me," he said to the system.
[This is you. It’s only achievable because of the impurities that have been greatly removed. Others can’t achieve this, but because of your cultivation skill, it is now possible.]
"Oh yeah, you’re telling me this is how I’m going to look if I at least take good care of myself?" he inquired.
[Yes, host. This is your real look. But this isn’t possible if you don’t have the skill, so be proud.]
"Yeah, okay, I’m proud. But I have one question... why the hell are my eyes golden now? What’s that about?" he asked.
[The change in your eyes is a result of your body syncing with the Kinetic Vein Art. As your Motion Core awakened, the kinetic energy flowing through your system began affecting your nervous structure and ocular channels] fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
[Thus, tuning your eyes golden because they’re now acting as kinetic regulators, that are very sensitive to motion, impact, and pressure]
[With that, they will allow you to read the flow of movement more precisely than a normal human ever could. In time, they’ll help you predict attacks, measure tension, and detect even the slightest shift in an enemy’s posture.]
"What? That’s so much info, can you make it shorter and simpler?" Jeff asked.
[...]
[Are you serious, host? You’ve literally wasted my energy just now. After this, I won’t be talking to you for over a week to conserve energy.]
Hearing the system complain made his smile faded. He looked at the glowing system panel, feeling a mix of amusement.
[I’ll be explaining it last time, your eyes changed because your body upgraded. They’re now synced with the energy from your cultivation. That golden color means your eyes can sense motion better, react faster, and read fights in ways normal people can’t. It’s like giving your vision a combat instinct meaning you’ll start seeing attacks before they fully happen. Think of it as built-in danger detection. That’s all bye]
Then the system disappeared, leaving Jeff alone. As he nodded his head in understanding.
He had perfectly understood the system’s explanation, but it was just that the system had been talking a bunch of nonsense, so he asked for it to be simplified.
"This system seems to have some serious anger issues," Jeff muttered, jumping onto the bed and stretching out.
Since today was Friday, Jeff knew he had to focus on another task, which is coding to finish the next update for Minecraft.
What he needed to focus on was making the multiplayer feature. Since multiplayer had become a much more playable experience, and it was one of the things that made Minecraft legendary back in his first world.
He knew this update could be a game-changer, and he was ready to dive into it.
That’s because before multiplayer, the solo sandbox in 2009, and even in the early 2010s, it looked just like some kind of single-player survival building game.
Yep, you spawned alone, mined blocks, crafted tools, and built structures in your free time. There were no mobs at first, no hunger, and no real goals to achieve.
It was all about creativity and exploration, with no pressure or competition.
It was pure sandbox, which was pretty great for those who were very creative. You could build anything, but it was only for yourself.
You could save screenshots or save files, but not experiences. There were huge limitations such as no shared adventures, no collaboration, and no competition.
The fun would eventually end once you reached your creative limit. The statistics before multiplayer were decent, but it lacked the depth that multiplayer brought, with its ability to bring people together for a shared experience.
By early 2010, around 1 million users were registered, most of them coming through word of mouth from Reddit and indie game forums.
At that time, no major YouTube influencers were playing it yet.
It was a small but dedicated community, especially compared to what was coming next, and that is the launch of multiplayer.
This would be the turning point for Minecraft, opening the floodgates to a much larger player base and a whole new level of gameplay.
