230 Let It Go [Bonus chapter]

CHAPTER 230
By the time Jade was done, she quickly left her home and went to pay Macy a visit.
Luckily for her, it was still very early else she would have had to go to her company to meet her friend and that was one thing she was dreading so much.
‘Now is not the time to see them and resume business. Now, it is time to fight.’ Jade thought to herself as she entered the elevator heading straight for Macy’s condo.
DING!
“Coming!”
A light chuckle escaped Jade’s lips at her friend’s response.
If she had not known better, she would have said it was her friend being intimate with you know who bout then again.
.....
‘Come on Jade, snap out of it. See how perverted you have become that literally, every word said relates to sex with you. Oh, mate bond you have killed me.’
She leaned back against the wall as she waited for Macy to come and open the door for her.
“A minute please,” Macy half yelled.
Rolling her eyes, Jade stood straight up and responded. “Yeah, I have given you more than that Mace, open up.”
“Jade a minute for crying out loud. I am not missing.”
“Well, you would soon be if I descend on you.”
“Hahahaa, funny.”
CLICK!
Hearing the sound of the bolt unlock Jade let out a deep breath and closed her eyes. ‘Come on, come on.’
The door opened, revealing Macy in her pyjamas with scattered hair. “Hi.”
“Hmm, please do not tell me, Macy, that what took you so long to come and get the door was you sleeping it out.”
“Well, I won’t tell you if you do not want me to.”
“Oh come on. What happened? Why are did you sleep in late?”
“Umm, check the time, Jade. It is just to eight in the morning.” She rolled her half-opened eyes at her friend before stepping aside for Jade to come in and locking the door behind her.
Waiting for her to lead the way to God knows where Jade folded her arms in front of her chest as she watched Macy stagger her way past her to the living room.
“To eight is just? Normally you should be on your way to work,” Jade reprimanded.
“Did you come to scold me? Cause if you did,” she raised her left hand and pointed back. “The door is that way.”
“Oh come on, you know I am not reprimanding you. I am here for you. I am just wondering.”
“Good, ’cause I would have asked you to take my place and get to work instead.”
“You know I can’t. They do not know me as the president yet. I am changed.” She spread her hands wide, taking a step back to show herself to Macy who by now was already seated by on the handle of one of her cushions watching her friend.
“Yeah, I know.”
“Hmm. So?”
“So, you were your disguise.”
“I am sorry Macy. I know this may be too hard for you but you have to understand me.”
“Really now? It is much.”
“Just do you as you have been doing in my absence. Send my work to me at home and I would handle them. I cannot be seen moving so much. I still have to monitor ale and Zain, you know and my hair.”
“People would think it is... argh scratch that, it is the modern world, anything goes. What are you afraid of? If you do not want them talking, then get your disguise back.”
“Tah, you know I wouldn’t. I miss my natural look. It reminded me of mum and dad.” At the last phrase, she lowered her gaze and went to sit on one of the cushions. I miss them.”
Understanding what was really going on, Macy shook her head to get the sleep totally out of her eyes and sat down close to her friend.
“Hey, girl.”
“Hmm?”
“I know.”
“Know what?” Jade asked without looking at her.
“This whole difficult situation is a result of you not being ready. You still are not ready to let go of anything. Their death still plagues you and the betrayal of your dearly beloved most trusted person broke you. You just came out from a hard truth and that is shocking. So I know why it is hard for you to go back to how things were.”
“I really wish...” The words were heavy in her mouth and it weighed as much in her heart. This whole time, she had to carry the burden. She loved who caused her misfortune and trusted who turned on her.
How was it going to be easy to trust anyone again? As though reading her mind, Macy voiced out. “I know it is not easy for you to trust anyone again but look at these two men in your life, they love you dearly.”
“Their love almost cost me my life. If Xander’s order had gone through completely, we won’t be having this conversation and neither would there be any stupid mate bond in the first place nor love and worst still, Arctic would not even have me to betray.”
Macy let out a sigh. This truly was something hard.
“So their love is overrated.”
“I know. But they are sorry. I have never seen any man as sorry as these two. Arctic is literally a mess, so Asia says but she doesn’t mind because she is mad at her father. And Xander, he is trying cause he needs to get revenge for you and also to safeguard his race but deep down, he is broken and you see how well he respects you and is trying to make it up to you.”
“I see it all, Macy but the anger within and the pain.”
Macy held Jade’s hand that was now touching her chest and caressed her skin softly. “You can let it go. You can because it is who you are. You are strong, Jade, so strong and you can move on.”
