Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 659: William Teaching Princess Irene To Be Brave
"Princess, why?" asked William who was surprised because Irene was almost crying. It would be dangerous if Aimee reported this to Ronan. William could die at the hands of that man.
Irene just shook her head, and William kept asking because he felt guilty for making the princess almost cry.
"William, it’s better for us to continue our way," said Aimee while pulling William away from Irene.
Irene felt uneasy because she had not decided whether she wanted to attend the academy or not, and she was afraid of the girls. They reminded her of when she was still in the werewolf clan. The female werewolves always looked at her with disdain because she was the only human there.
William finally fell silent, giving Irene time to calm herself. After that, he kept silent and let Aimee introduce all the academy’s facilities to Irene, who now listened to the explanation half-heartedly.
The three of them then rested on the edge of the bridge.
"Is this the river where Lazarus threw himself to help my brother and Ronan helped them?" Aimee asked William.
"Yup. Right here. After that, we became true friends forever," William answered proudly.
"Who would have thought that this river would bring us this close? Even until now, we are still together," William said while staring at the river water, which was certainly freezing. He suddenly saw something he had missed so much. If only at that time he didn’t force Ronan to help Lazarus as well as Kael who were drowning, maybe they would never have been this close.
Irene looked around her once more while wondering if this was what she really wanted. Everyone looked intelligent and even if she managed to pass the test but ended up failing, then she would only embarrass Arielle and His Majesty the King, right? Irene had many things to consider before deciding.
"Do you want to go to the cafeteria or eat somewhere else? I want to recommend a delicious dish. It’s a toast with eggs and bacon. It is the most popular food in the cafeteria. Want me to buy it for you?" Aimee offered.
"Oh, I know that. Are the academy chefs still making it?" William asked enthusiastically.
"Yeah, of course they do. I can bring it for you too if you want," Aimee offered to William as well.
"How about you, Princess?" asked Aimee to Irene.
Irene was hesitant to join William and Aimee, but she was worried that she would meet the other students there, so she shook her head.
"Can I not come with both of you? I want to wait for Arielle here because I have something to talk about with her," Irene replied hesitantly. She was too afraid to go anywhere now.
Aimee glanced at William. "Then, I will wait with Princess Irene. You can go to the cafeteria and bring us the toast," said William.
Aimee then turned to look at Irene. "Would it be all right for you to be left with William?"
William waited for Irene’s answer and smiled in relief that the girl had no problem waiting with him. He was still worried that Irene felt afraid of being with him.
Aimee asked William and Irene to sit on a park bench facing the river. William sat quietly, waiting for Irene to say something, even though he knew that his best friend’s sister would never talk if he didn’t start it first.
William recalled her younger sisters who left the north a long time ago. He used to have three younger sisters, and he didn’t know how they were doing now. Sometimes he missed them, especially when he looked at Aimee. Aimee was already like their little sister. He was quite good to Aimee and almost never teased her like Lazarus did.
"Your Highness, I’m sorry if my actions earlier made you uncomfortable."
Irene looked at the man beside her then shook her head.
"I just hope that after you attend the academy later, you can have a lot of friends. Truly, I hope you can meet a sincere friend like me, your brother Ronan, Kael, or Lazarus. Having lots of people around is fun. You won’t feel lonely."
"You don’t feel lonely at all?" asked Irene, making William a bit taken aback.
He? Not feeling lonely? William thought for a moment and tried to remember it. Lonely, huh? Perhaps, yes... he had seen his friends one by one having families and immersing themselves in other activities while he just walked around in the same place. It made him think about his purpose in life.
Accompanying Ronan through his journey as a king from the start was quite enjoyable. William didn’t regret it at all, but Ronan had Arielle now. Lazarus also spent most of his time with Aimee, while Kael, from the start the man wasn’t the type to accept his invitations for drinks every night.
William met a lot of people, but it still felt like he was alone. He glanced at Irene who was still waiting for his answer. He indeed had a big mouth, talking about this and that which he himself couldn’t relate.
"I don’t think I’m that lonely," William answered, which was an obvious lie.
He couldn’t tell the princess the truth after saying that Irene had to make as many friends as possible so she wouldn’t be lonely.
"I don’t know if I can do it or not," Irene replied.
William felt that today the princess was quite open to him. As an older brother, of course, he would listen well to the girl’s story because he had considered Irene as his own sister, just like Aimee. Irene’s presence filled the empty part of his heart after his younger siblings left him with his other family.
"Why do you think you cannot do it?" he asked.
"I’m afraid they won’t accept me. I am also worried that if I join them, it would make them uncomfortable."
William could see the fear in the little princess’s eyes vividly. Princess Irene had a past that couldn’t be said to be normal. Arielle had told him everything, including what the werewolf did to the princess. It was the worst. He couldn’t imagine if he was in the girl’s position. William averted his face when the wind brushed past him. It also blew the princess’ coat hood. Because Irene’s hair was in a bun, her neck was visible.
