Love You Till the End-Chapter 993 - 992: You’re Not an Ordinary Employee
"Then try the other ones."
"Hmm."
Seeing Shi Aoju eat contentedly, Su Jiuyi hesitated for a moment before boldly making her request: "Can I go out this afternoon?"
Shi Aoju raised an eyebrow: "Where to?"
"I made plans with a friend to go pick out ingredients together," she replied.
"Which friend?" As far as he knew, her only friend was Qi Jingren, and she hadn’t mentioned any others.
"A culinary expert, the author of the dessert book I use." She explained.
"When did you meet a culinary expert..."
"At the last masquerade ball," she recalled, remembering that while standing by the window, Shi Aoju ought to have seen Ye Han beside her.
So it was that guy.
Shi Aoju furrowed his brow, realizing he hadn’t paid attention to who wrote the dessert book she cherished. He had just thought she simply liked the book, but now it seemed it wasn’t as simple as he had assumed.
"No, you can’t go." He coldly refused.
"Why?" she asked, dissatisfied.
Seeing her frown, Shi Aoju’s voice grew even colder: "No reason."
"But... it’s a holiday, you don’t have the right to interfere with my affairs."
Indeed.
During holidays, employers don’t have the right to restrict employees’ activities, and Su Jiuyi chose to stay at the Shi Family because she didn’t want to return to the Su Family.
Shi Aoju glanced at her briefly before continuing to drink his soup, saying nothing more.
"That’s final then." Su Jiuyi put down her chopsticks and turned to leave, but as she reached the door, she was stopped by several diligent bodyguards outside.
Su Jiuyi, unable to hold her anger, turned back and question him loudly: "There’s nothing in the employee handbook that says we have to follow the boss’s arrangements during holidays!"
"You’re not a regular employee," he said leisurely.
Hearing this, Su Jiuyi stood there surprised, not understanding what he meant.
"So many things happened; it’s dangerous outside." He spoke with his back to her, unable to see the expression on her face, just stating part of his reason for not letting her out.
So that’s how it is. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Su Jiuyi sniffled, feeling a bit disappointed.
When Shi Aoju said she wasn’t a regular employee, she felt somewhat happy, but after hearing the latter part, the disappointment quickly followed.
Turns out he was just concerned about her safety because he promised her he wouldn’t let her get involved in this matter again and would strive to protect her, which is why he wouldn’t let her out now due to the chaos outside.
She had once again misunderstood the situation.
Su Jiuyi adjusted her demeanor and slowly spoke: "Aren’t your bodyguards quite skilled? How about letting them accompany me?"
Shi Aoju remained silent.
"Of course, if you think it’s unnecessary to trouble your bodyguards with me, then let’s pretend I said nothing. You don’t need to concern yourself with me; anyway, Young Master Jue is so resourceful, he doesn’t need my input." Su Jiuyi said indifferently.
Shi Aoju put down the spoon and got up; he walked towards Su Jiuyi step by step, his face solemn, his eyes dark and ominous.
Su Jiuyi stared back at him fearlessly, showing no intention of retreating.
That look again.
