Love Symphony: Let Your Heart Beat for Me-Chapter 84 - 041 Your Man
Chapter 84: Chapter 041 Your Man
The next afternoon was the rehearsal before the New Year’s Eve concert.
Yanchuan University Affiliated Music College is one of the top art schools in the country. The Music College places the most importance on the school art festival and the annual New Year’s Eve concert. Yan University Music College is full of talent, never lacking in diverse programs. Tonight’s concert includes not only classical, folk, and pop music but also drama, dance, and musicals.
Thanks to yesterday’s last-minute ensemble, Xu Chengyang’s "G Major String Serenade" was also settled.
Just like Fu Weiheng, Ye Yin Huan graduated with a master’s degree from Berlin Music Academy. During his undergraduate years, he studied in the orchestral department of Berlin Music College, and was a senior in the same major as Fu Weiheng, specializing in the viola. After graduate school, he switched to conducting, continuing until his master’s graduation. Ye Yin Huan has a solid foundation and excels in his profession, making a simple quartet seem like a breeze for him.
Although Ye Yin Huan could step in for tonight’s concert, he was too busy to attend the afternoon rehearsal, so the three of them casually coordinated with the lighting crew to rehearse the stage setup.
With two hours to go before the concert, Su Wan picked a smoky blue strapless gauzy long dress from her performance wardrobe, and then went to the backstage of the theater to find a makeup artist.
While waiting in line, she had just started a game of "eliminate the blocks" when Fu Weiheng called.
Seeing the girl in front of her applying foundation, Su Wan figured it would be a while before it was her turn, so she got up, lifting her long gown, and answered the call in the hallway outside: "Neil, what’s up?"
His steady voice came through the receiver: "What time does the performance start?"
"Six o’clock. Are you coming?"
"Yeah, which program number is yours?" Fu Weiheng glanced at his watch.
"Seventeenth." Su Wan fiddled with her dress and asked, "Are you coming with Mr. Ye?"
Fu Weiheng paused in his document flipping, a hint of fluctuation in his calm tone: "Ivan?"
"Oh, I think I forgot to tell you..." Su Wan said, "Our original violist had some issues, so I asked Miss Fu to find Mr. Ye to step in for us yesterday."
Fu Weiheng raised an eyebrow, thought for a moment, and said, "I’ll leave in about half an hour."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Fu Weiheng closed the files in his hands and went to the dressing room to change into a tailored black suit.
Then, he headed to the room of Ye Yin Huan and Fu Weijin.
The door was ajar, and Fu Weiheng knocked twice before pushing it open.
Ye Yin Huan was in the dressing room changing clothes, preparing for tonight’s performance. He was adjusting his bow tie in front of the mirror when he heard a noise outside the door and turned to see Fu Weiheng standing by the door watching him.
Startled, Ye Yin Huan paused his tie adjustment, glanced at him, and said, "Are you a cat? Walking without a sound?"
Fu Weiheng replied, "I knocked."
"You’re going to the Yan University New Year’s Eve concert tonight, right?" Ye Yin Huan glanced at the well-crafted suit he was wearing and continued buttoning up, "Su Wan probably told you I’m stepping in, but my car was taken by Jin, and I’m not comfortable driving the other cars in the garage, so since you’re on the way..."
Before finishing, Fu Weiheng interrupted in a deep voice: "You stay put, I’ll take your viola."
With that, he turned, picked up the old violin case from the low cabinet, and left, closing the door behind him.
Ye Yin Huan: "..."
At six o’clock, the concert officially started.
The theater was packed, and two elegantly dressed hosts walked onto the stage one after the other. After an opening speech, they began announcing the acts, marking the start of the performance.
Su Wan, Xu Chengyang, and Qiaozi were already made up and were sitting in the dressing room waiting for Ye Yin Huan to arrive.
Xu Chengyang glanced at the time, feeling a bit anxious: "Wanwan, what if Mr. Ye stands us up?"
Su Wan tested the tuning of her instrument and said confidently, "He won’t. Mr. Ye is coming with Fu Weiheng, and they should be on their way. I’ll send a WeChat message to check where they are."
Xu Chengyang nodded like a pecking chick.
Su Wan opened WeChat and sent a message to Fu Weiheng—
Swan: "Neil, have you arrived?"
The response was almost immediate.
Neil: "Parking lot."
Su Wan quickly put down the instrument and picked up her skirt, not even bothering to put on a coat, and hurriedly ran to the main entrance to greet them.
When she reached the theater entrance, that familiar tall figure was also approaching from a distance, carrying a violin case.
Puzzled, Su Wan took a second look. Why was Fu Weiheng the only one? Where was Mr. Ye?
Unable to wait, she ran up to Fu Weiheng, looked behind him again, but found no one.
Su Wan looked up in confusion and asked him, "Where is Mr. Ye?"
Fu Weiheng looked down at her exquisite makeup and splendid attire, feeling a twinge in his heart, but his expression remained calm: "He got held up and can’t make it."
Su Wan was taken aback: "Wh-what?"
Fu Weiheng: "I’m stepping in for him."
Su Wan was half skeptical: "You, you know how to play the viola?"
Fu Weiheng frowned, cast her a blank look, and scoffed: "Hmph, your man is omnipotent."
Su Wan: "..."
