Love Symphony: Let Your Heart Beat for Me-Chapter 149 - 78 Pre-Match Trial_2
Jiang Yun anticipated her reaction; this neighborhood held too many memories. It was here that she and Su Jingsheng started, and it was here that they ended.
When the car stopped in front of the small house that was all too familiar to Su Wan, she belatedly asked, "Do you... live here?"
Jiang Yun responded with a soft "hm," turned off the engine, got out, and went to the back seat to get her instrument.
It wasn’t until Su Wan followed Jiang Yun inside that she found it all rather unbelievable.
After seven years, she returned to this place where she once lived with her father, but her feelings had changed.
The furnishings inside seemed scarcely altered, just as warm and comfortable as before.
But the sense of home was missing. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Back then, I had someone buy this house from you for me," Jiang Yun said. "Everything here has been untouched except for some things that got old from years of neglect. Though people have gone, I couldn’t bear to see it empty..."
Su Wan choked up; the memories here were too numerous, and complex emotions surged through her, tears unstoppable.
Over the years, Su Wan never thought she would reunite with Jiang Yun in this place.
Su Wan turned around and glanced everywhere. The upright piano that stood against the white wall had been replaced by a Steinway grand piano. Its gleam and elegance seemed out of place in this old house.
Following her gaze, Jiang Yun explained, "The old piano had been left untouched for too long, and its strings and soundboard were severely dampened and basically unusable. I had Zhi Yan replace it for me."
Su Wan turned back and smiled, feeling momentarily uninterested in speaking. She picked up her instrument, unzipped the case, and addressed the purpose of her visit: "Let’s practice."
Jiang Yun: "Okay."
The afternoon of practice was especially harmonious.
After dinner, Fu Weiheng came home from a business trip, surprised to find no one there. He pulled out his phone and made a call—
The soft, gentle voice was particularly pleasant: "Neil... I want to spend the evening with my mom..."
Fu Weiheng was taken aback, then smiled and said, "Alright... I’ll pick you up for work tomorrow morning."
Su Wan agreed: "Okay."
That night, after so many years, staying under the same roof again, Su Wan inevitably felt a bit unsettled.
After everything that had happened, she hoped to reconcile with Jiang Yun, but feared her presence might disrupt Jiang Yun’s current family life. At a loss, she suddenly regretted staying the night.
As night deepened, the air conditioning indoors was quite strong. Jiang Yun, worried she might catch a cold, came in to bring her an extra blanket.
"Cover yourself well at night, or if you feel too cold, raise the air conditioning temperature," Jiang Yun advised, making the bed.
Su Wan stood behind her, watching silently.
She bent over, expertly arranging the bed. Her shoulder-length short hair was tied up, and she wore loose home clothes. That slender figure seemed somewhat desolate, a bit lonely, and a bit bittersweet... Stripped of her glamorous shell, she was just a mother who cared deeply for her child.
Su Wan’s eyes burned hot, and she responded softly, "Mm, I’m not cold, Mom."
"Alright." Jiang Yun gently tossed the pillow onto the bed, stood up, brushed the hair off her forehead, and turned back to look at her, "You should rest early."
"Mm." Su Wan watched her walk toward the door, suddenly asking, "Mom, is your current husband... good to you?"
Jiang Yun paused with her hand on the doorknob, glancing back and musing, "...He’s quite good."
Su Wan remained silent for a while before finally smiling, "Mm, Mom, you should rest early, goodnight."
——
The next morning, while Su Wan was still in the bathroom washing up, Fu Weiheng arrived, bringing breakfast along.
Jiang Yun was the one who answered the door. Fu Weiheng nodded, greeting her, and followed Jiang Yun inside with the bag of breakfast.
Su Wan finished dressing and came out of her room to see Fu Weiheng looking around in the living room. She was a bit surprised and walked over, "This early?"
Hearing her, Fu Weiheng turned around, a meaningful smile on his face, "I didn’t sleep well without you."
Su Wan shyly glanced at him and went straight into the kitchen.
Fu Weiheng followed her inside. Jiang Yun had already set everything out and placed three sets of tableware on the dining table.
Su Wan pulled out a chair and sat down, taking the chopsticks Jiang Yun handed her, and softly said, "Thank you, Mom."
Fu Weiheng came over to sit across from Su Wan, courteously smiling at Jiang Yun, "Thank you for the trouble, Mr. Jiang."
Jiang Yun chuckled, "No need to be so polite, we’re all family now."
After breakfast, the two headed back to the company together.
The car ride was as silent as ever. Su Wan flipped through the CD holder and eventually selected Fu Weiheng’s album to put into the player again.
