Chapter 226: Chapter 226: "You Are Ten Thousand Times More Hateful Than Miles Harrison.

Sherry Walsh had recently had some dealings with Noah Sterling because of a divorce case he had referred to her.

But in her eyes, Noah Sterling was, first and foremost, Sean Harrison’s friend.

Since Sean Harrison had wronged Rory Linden, she had no intention of being nice to Noah Sterling.

"We’re all adults, and we’re paying customers. What gives you the right to tell us what to do?"

Sherry Walsh thought the man was being ridiculous!

At most, she and Noah Sterling were business associates.

’Meddling in this and that, and now he was trying to stick his nose in her private life?’

Before Noah Sterling could speak, Sherry Walsh suddenly realized something. "Your friend isn’t Sean Harrison, is it? Does Sean Harrison own this bar?"

"No."

Noah Sterling denied it.

Sherry Walsh shot him a glare. "I bet Sean Harrison does own it. This bar has not just male escorts but female ones too. Don’t tell me he’s putting on a ’single guy’ act in public while secretly playing the field."

"..."

"I knew it!" Sherry Walsh glanced at the sleeping Rory Linden. "Where’s Sean Harrison? Take me to him!"

Noah Sterling had only meant to tell them to go home. He hadn’t expected things to escalate like this.

Sherry Walsh said to the manager, "You stay here and watch my friend." Then she turned to Noah Sterling. "So, where’s Sean Harrison? I want to see him. I’m going to give him a piece of my mind."

Although Sherry Walsh came from a well-off family, getting to meet Sean Harrison in person was normally next to impossible.

No matter why Sean Harrison was here today, she was going to see him!

Seeing that he couldn’t talk her out of it, Noah Sterling finally said, "Let’s go."

Sherry Walsh turned and glanced again at Rory Linden, who was fast asleep on the sofa, and said to the manager, "Make sure you keep a close eye on my friend."

The manager replied politely, "Don’t worry, miss. I’ll stand right at the door and watch. I won’t let anyone into the private room."

Only then did Sherry Walsh feel at ease enough to go with Noah Sterling.

The two of them walked all the way to the largest private room at the very back of the bar.

Sherry Walsh pushed the door open and stormed in.

Henry Lancaster, who was still drinking, immediately put his glass down when he saw the furious Sherry Walsh.

Sean Harrison sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, holding a glass of amber-colored liquor.

The sight of Sean Harrison’s calm and leisurely posture sent a surge of anger through Sherry Walsh. "Sean Harrison, you look like you’re doing pretty well for yourself."

Henry Lancaster quickly stood up.

From the way Sherry Walsh was posturing, it looked like she was about to lunge over and claw up Sean Harrison’s face.

Noah Sterling stood right beside her, ready to stop her from doing anything rash.

Sean Harrison lifted his gaze to her but said nothing.

"Didn’t I tell you back then? If you weren’t planning on being with Rory for the long haul, then don’t put on some big, romantic act!" Sherry Walsh was seething. "Rory’s first twenty-some years of life were already incredibly hard. Did you have to show up just to add to her pain?"

Only then did Sean Harrison put down his glass. "I’m sorry."

"Sorry?!" Sherry Walsh was absolutely furious. "You don’t actually think those two flimsy words can just make everything go away, do you? Do you have any idea how hard these past few years have been for Rory?"

Hearing Sherry Walsh’s words, Sean Harrison’s expression finally turned serious.

All sorts of memories from those years were already flashing through Sherry Walsh’s mind.

Before she could even speak, her eyes were already turning red.

"Rory is strong-willed. She refused to accept my help. She was pregnant abroad with very little money, working to make ends meet. Sometimes she even worked two jobs just to support her family."

Sherry Walsh sniffled and asked him, "Did you know that not long after Leo Linden was born, he was diagnosed with selective mutism?"

The entire room fell into a mystifying silence at her words.

Sean Harrison shot to his feet. "Leo has that kind of illness?"

"That’s right. A single mother, alone in a foreign country, with no savings and a sick son who needed expensive medical treatment." Sherry Walsh met the man’s eyes. "Why don’t you take a guess what kind of life she lived."

"Do you know? There were several times Rory called me in the middle of the night, her time. She wouldn’t say a word. She would just cry, from heart-wrenching sobs until she was completely exhausted."

"And what finally made her stop crying wasn’t that she had let it all out. It was her alarm going off. She’d tell me in a hoarse voice that she had to go to work."

"Sean Harrison! If you were even a decent human being, you wouldn’t have just ignored her and left her to fend for herself!"

As Sherry Walsh said this, the tears that had been welling in her eyes finally fell.

She had never been one to cry easily.

But thinking about Rory Linden’s life during those years, her heart truly ached for her.

Silence filled the entire private room.

None of them had known. The men in the room had only ever seen the Rory Linden of today—the expert cardiothoracic surgeon, saving lives in her white coat.

They had no idea she had suffered so much during those years.

The words "I’m sorry" were caught in Sean Harrison’s throat, unable to come out.

After hearing about Rory Linden’s ordeal, he felt that those two words were far too easy to say.

No wonder the woman was so furious.

What he had done was truly unforgivable.

Henry Lancaster couldn’t help but say, "Actually, Big Bro really didn’t know Miss Linden was pregnant."

"And what if he had known?" Sherry Walsh sneered. "Rory just tentatively brought it up, and he wanted to drag her to get an abortion. How could she possibly dare to tell him?"

Henry Lancaster didn’t dare to make another peep.

Sherry Walsh looked at Sean Harrison, her eyes full of disappointment. "I used to think Miles Harrison was despicable, but to Rory, you’re ten thousand times worse!"

"True."

Sean Harrison finally uttered a single word.

He was admitting it.

After hearing what Sherry Walsh had to say, he felt completely hollowed out.

He was completely consumed by regret.

For the first time, the very first time, he regretted the choice and decision he had made back then. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

He regretted it so much he wanted to go back and kill the man he was five years ago.

Sean Harrison looked down, straightened his clothes, and asked her, "And Rory Linden? Where is she?"

"What are you going to do?"

Sherry Walsh watched the man warily.

"She’s been drinking. I’ll have someone take her home."

Sean Harrison didn’t even dare to say that he would take her home himself.

He simply didn’t deserve to.

In his entire life, he had made countless decisions, and he had never regretted a single one.

Only this one.

He was so full of regret that he no longer knew how he could ever make up for it.

"No need. I’ll take her."

Sherry Walsh refused.

Sean Harrison insisted, "You’ve been drinking too. I’ll arrange for someone to take you both home safely."

"I can take Lawyer Walsh. Miss Linden is asleep, so you can just arrange a car to take her back."

The one who said this was Noah Sterling.

As he spoke, he glanced sideways at Sherry Walsh.

The woman was still quietly wiping her tears.

To be honest, everything that had just happened had actually changed his opinion of Sherry Walsh somewhat.

He hadn’t expected the woman to go to such lengths for a friend.

And against someone as powerful and influential as Sean Harrison, no less.

If she made Sean Harrison angry, all it would take was a flick of his wrist, and he could cause huge trouble for her law firm.

Sherry Walsh immediately refused. "No way! I don’t trust Sean Harrison to take Rory."

Sean Harrison took the initiative and suggested, "Then you can come with us."
