Love at First Sight? Mr. Harrison Has Been Scheming All Along-Chapter 208: "Sister is so excellent, it’s not unreasonable that Uncle is worried.
"President Harrison, this is just my sensitivity as a doctor," Rory Linden explained openly. "If you’re sick, you need to take your medication properly. Don’t stop taking it on your own, or it will do your condition no good."
Rory Linden was simply reminded of a former patient who had received a heart transplant.
Anyone who gets a heart transplant has to be mentally prepared to take medication for the rest of their life.
That patient had stopped taking his medication without authorization and ended up dying.
He hadn’t just thrown away his own life. He had also made the donor’s sacrifice meaningless and potentially caused someone else to die after missing the chance to receive that heart.
"Yes, I understand."
Sean Harrison agreed.
Rory Linden had initially wanted to ask Sean Harrison what illness he actually had.
’She had a feeling his cold decisiveness back then might have been related to this illness.’
Similar things happened at the hospital.
But...
She decided not to ask. ’Whatever the reason was back then, it has nothing to do with me anymore.’
Before she left him, she had said and done everything she needed to. She had a clear conscience and would not accept any belated apologies.
The car started moving. Without asking for Rory Linden’s address, Sean Harrison drove straight to the apartment complex where she was currently renting—Jade Court Residences.
The complex got its name from the famous elementary, middle, and high schools surrounding it.
If it weren’t for the housing stipend from the hospital, Rory Linden definitely wouldn’t have been able to afford renting a place here.
Rory Linden wasn’t surprised.
With Sean Harrison’s resources, he could find out every single detail about her if he wanted to.
The complex had a few ground-level parking spots, but only registered vehicles were allowed in and out.
Sean Harrison’s car could only stop at the entrance.
Rory Linden placed her hand on the car door handle. "President Harrison, does this mean our agreement is now in effect?"
"Yes. I’ll get started on the foundation matter as soon as possible. I heard there’s a child with a congenital heart defect. The company will advance the treatment costs, so don’t worry."
Sean Harrison was a man of his word.
He was already blurring the lines between public and private matters by using the foundation to make demands of her.
If he were to back out on such a small amount of money, he would truly be abandoning the most basic integrity required in business.
"Thank you, President Harrison."
Rory Linden opened the car door.
At the same moment, a black motorcycle approached from the opposite direction.
It had originally been behind Sean Harrison’s sedan, but after noticing the luxury car, the rider circled around on the motorcycle.
Rory Linden didn’t notice the motorcycle and got out of the car.
When she looked up, she saw Ryan Sterling on the motorcycle. He took off his helmet with both hands, shook out his short hair, and then looked over.
"Rory Linden?"
Ryan Sterling clearly hadn’t expected her to be the one getting out of the car.
He glanced at the woman, then peered through the car’s front windshield toward the driver’s seat.
Sean Harrison was one of the most famous figures in Celestria. Though Ryan had never met the man in person, he had seen his photos online or on social media.
Rory Linden nodded at him in acknowledgment and started walking toward the complex entrance.
Ryan Sterling put his helmet back on, started his motorcycle, and followed Rory Linden.
"Are you just getting back? I had something to do at school, so I just got back too." Ryan Sterling slowed his bike to a crawl. "By the way, Leo mentioned last time that he likes LEGOs. I bought a few simple sets online. They’ve already arrived, so I’ll bring them over to you in a bit."
Sean Harrison recognized Ryan Sterling at a glance as the young man from the plaza the other day.
He opened his door, got out, and rested a hand on the roof of his car. Speaking from across the vehicle, he said, "Dr. Linden, this is your friend, isn’t he? Aren’t you going to introduce me?"
Despite the distance of over ten meters, the man’s words were still clearly audible.
Both of them stopped walking.
Sean Harrison closed the car door, straightened his collar, and strode over to them in a few steps.
"Hello, I’m Sean Harrison. I’m Dr. Linden’s..."
"Ex-boyfriend."
Before Sean Harrison could finish his introduction, Ryan Sterling had already finished his sentence for him.
Sean Harrison’s expression remained impassive, his gaze turning to Rory Linden with a questioning look...
Ryan Sterling introduced himself first. "Hello, President Harrison. My name is Ryan Sterling. You don’t know me, but you definitely know my uncle, Noah Sterling."
"Ah, so you’re Noah’s nephew." Sean Harrison’s lips curved slightly. "When I first met him, he mentioned you. You were probably still in middle school back then, causing him quite a headache."
Ryan Sterling chuckled. "Is that so? I thought my uncle was proud of me."
Sean Harrison’s expression didn’t change. "But it seems you and your uncle are quite close. He even told you about my relationship with her."
Ryan Sterling was only a centimeter or two shorter than Sean Harrison.
Perhaps because of his youth, his presence was in no way inferior.
"I teach Leo how to skateboard, and I get along well with his mom. My uncle was worried I wouldn’t be able to control my feelings, so he gave me a special warning." Ryan Sterling looked at Rory Linden beside him. "For someone as amazing as her, my uncle’s worries weren’t unfounded."
’I have no idea how this conversation devolved into this!’
’I’ve always seen Ryan Sterling as a younger brother.’
’It wasn’t just because he was young, but also because he seemed so carefree in his actions.’
"What are you talking about?" Rory Linden was clearly displeased. "Mr. Sterling, you’re just Leo’s teacher. Our relationship isn’t close enough for you to be making these kinds of jokes."
After making her stance clear, she turned and walked away.
’I have absolutely no desire to know what the two men behind me will talk about next.’
Ryan Sterling wanted to chase after her, but unfortunately, Rory Linden had walked onto a gravel path. He couldn’t ride his motorcycle on it, so he had to circle around and go through the underground parking garage.
Rory Linden walked into the building and pressed the button for the elevator.
The elevator was coming up from the underground parking garage.
The elevator doors opened.
Just as she had expected, Ryan Sterling was standing inside.
"Rory, Rory Linden, Ms. Rory!" Afraid she wouldn’t get in the elevator, Ryan Sterling anxiously switched between several names. "I’m sorry."
Rory Linden gave a helpless smile and stepped into the elevator. "Just call me Ms. Rory from now on."
She also felt it was a bit strange for Ryan Sterling to call her by her full name.
"Okay, Ms. Rory. Ms. Rory." Ryan Sterling lowered his gaze to the woman standing in front of him. "I’m sorry. I only said that just now because I was indignant."
Rory Linden said, "My business has nothing to do with you."
"Leo told me he’s lived with you his whole life. I just feel that, as a man, no matter what, you can’t just ignore your pregnant girlfriend! If you’re going to do that, then you should have kept it in your pants in the first place!"
The agitation in Ryan Sterling’s voice was hard to suppress.
He didn’t know what had happened back then; he just genuinely felt that Sean Harrison didn’t deserve any sympathy.
As the elevator doors opened, Rory Linden said, "Thank you, but please don’t get involved in my affairs from now on. Otherwise, I might not be able to let you continue teaching Leo."
’It wasn’t that she disliked Ryan Sterling; she was just afraid he would provoke Sean Harrison.’
’From the incident with Miles Harrison, she had already come to understand the man’s strange possessiveness.’
’He can dislike you.’
’But you can’t be outside of his control.’
Standing at her front door, Rory Linden took out her phone and glanced at it casually.
She saw a new friend request on WeChat.
The attached message simply read: [Sean Harrison].
