Longevity Strange Immortal-Chapter 600 - 32: They’re Back, All of Them Are Back
Although the Immortal Realm did not completely fall during the great upheaval of heaven and earth, over time, the disaster’s influence was omnipresent.
As the only pure land left for the Buddhist Sect, Nirvana was visibly diminishing day by day.
Many Arhats inevitably became restless, but the Four Great Bodhisattvas remained indifferent, leaving them to suppress their deep-seated anxieties.
The result was that while disaster loomed over the Immortal Realm, Nirvana appeared like a paradise.
Amid the believers’ offerings, the Arhats turned a deaf ear to the outside world, yet their temperaments clearly became extreme, occasionally leading to believers’ deaths.
"Hmm?"
One Arhat merely saw the believers and felt a fit of nameless anger.
With a press of his hand, a dozen or so believers nearby turned to pulp, the scent of blood filled the air, and the remaining believers knelt in extreme panic.
"Ridiculous."
The Arhat left openly, then monks were dispatched from the temple to clean up the corpses.
In resource-scarce Nirvana, even corpses were a rare resource; flesh was refined into oil to make candles, and bones were crushed into raw materials for forging Buddha statues.
On the surface, it appeared bright and beautiful, but beneath lay all sorts of hidden filth.
"The Buddhist Sect is full of hungry ghosts, there is no pure land left in the world."
Han Cai stood in a corner watching coldly, observing Nirvana turning to dust bit by bit, without a trace of ripple in his heart.
He recalled scenes from hundreds of years ago, his expression showing despair.
Han Cai murmured to himself, "Li Mo, my disciple, I don’t know if you are still alive, I have failed you and Old Tian’s expectations."
"The mortal world has already perished, and the Immortal Realm is about to follow suit."
"Can man conquer nature? Reverse the future? It’s meaningless."
Han Cai closed his eyes in pain, remembering Tian Changwen’s dying instructions to wait in the Immortal Realm to reunite with Li Mo upon his ascension.
Tian Changwen died due to the uncontrolled birth of the No-Life Mother, which, because it was too rushed, affected a series of major events, leaving only about three thousand of the Creation Sect’s nine thousand disciples after ascension.
Han Cai could not forgive himself.
If it weren’t for his incompetence, the Creation Sect would not have fallen apart.
Han Cai desperately tried to halt the decline, even attempting to strategize, only to make the Creation Sect fall into desolation even faster.
It was not until more than three hundred years ago, during the second great upheaval of heaven and earth, that he realized perhaps all efforts were mere futile attempts.
Han Cai’s hands trembled, fear deeply etched in his eyes.
The moment the second great upheaval occurred, over half of Nirvana was destroyed, and hundreds of Arhats perished and their Daos disappeared.
Countless Arhats turned into deceitful objects, and Maitreya Buddha, who still retained consciousness, went berserk.
The believers’ corpses piled into mountains.
Even with the Bodhisattvas’ intervention it was to no avail, as Maitreya Buddha devoured millions of believers, leaving only four out of eighteen Bodhisattvas.
If it weren’t for Maitreya Buddha regaining clarity in time and choosing to seal himself in the Liu Li jar, the entire Nirvana would have been razed to the ground.
"Ah..."
Han Cai sighed deeply.
"Given the scale of the upheaval, Li Mo may have already perished in the mortal world."
"Even if he did reach the Immortal Realm, facing disasters that even Immortal Ancestors couldn’t escape, everything would just return to dust and ashes."
Hearing the commotion from a nearby street, Han Cai instinctively walked towards the source.
Passing through an alley, he saw dozens of corpses hanging upside down from a tree, blood forming a pool, and an Arhat drinking it with his head down.
"Fu...Futu..."
Han Cai, as if struck by lightning, opened his mouth wide, half-kneeling on the spot.
His Spiritual Power spiraled out of control, his mental realm threatened to collapse, and his flesh and bones were mutating, nearing Deviation.
"Elder Han!"
Fortunately, Huang Mu arrived in time, dragging Han Cai into a secluded corner.
Han Cai’s eyes were vacant, unable to accept his old friend’s death, while Huang Mu stood beside him at a loss, both silent and speechless.
After a long time, Han Cai asked, "Why Futu?"
"All merchants of Nirvana couldn’t escape the calamity, the Buddhist Sect has collapsed, they’re just finding an excuse to massacre the believers."
"I see, I see..."
Han Cai turned and disappeared into the depths of the alley, heading straight towards where the Four Great Bodhisattvas were.
Huang Mu wanted to persuade Han Cai, but the latter gestured for him to leave, disappearing in the blink of an eye among the splendor of gold-paved buildings.
Han Cai first visited each of his fellow disciples of the Creation Sect.
Then, evading the temple’s watchful eyes, he arrived at the central area of Nirvana.
"Since everyone is destined to die, I...might as well see what tricks the Four Great Bodhisattvas are up to, and when the Buddhist Sect will perish."
As Han Cai walked, he used concealed tools to restore his broken limbs one by one.
He crawled like a spider, undetected by the Arhats.
Upon entering the Buddha Light area of the Four Great Bodhisattvas, Han Cai noticed that the No-Life Mother was restrained by them.
Surrounded by the Four Great Bodhisattvas, they chanted sutras, their voices deafening.
The No-Life Mother tried several times to break free, but to no avail, forced to absorb the dense Buddha Light the Four Great Bodhisattvas released.
"Body Seizing? Are the Four Great Bodhisattvas preparing to devour the No-Life Mother to advance further?"
Han Cai gasped.
"No, the Four Great Bodhisattvas are refining the No-Life Mother."
Combining with the rumors that the No-Life Mother was Randeng Buddha’s reincarnation, Han Cai realized that the Buddhist Sect was at the brink of life and death.
The Four Great Bodhisattvas alone swallowing the No-Life Mother wouldn’t be in time, they were likely attempting to revive Maitreya Buddha through her.
The union of the two Buddha Ancestors might offer a sliver of hope to survive the upheaval.
"Heh."
Han Cai shook his head with a bitter smile, realizing that overthinking was meaningless, as Buddha Ancestors, who transcended Daluo Golden Immortals, were beyond the control of mere Land Immortals like them.
