Living with the Dangerous Beast-Chapter 88: Who’s Baeksom?
Chapter 88: Who’s Baeksom?
His eyes, which had been brimming with sweetness, turned cold in an instant.
Dohwi grabbed her scruff, lifting her right in front of his face.
His eyes had turned a golden hue, glaring down at the fox as though he might devour her whole.
“Let me go?”
“Heh! Silly, I was just joking!”
Sohwa let out a burst of laughter, squirming in his arms.
But a dark warning rumbled from the young groom.
“If you joke like that one more time....”
“And then?”
“You’ll be locked in the bedroom for life, only allowed out when it’s time to put that pretty mouth of yours to use.”
“Tsk, tsk. Such a sensitive young boy.”
Clicking her tongue, Sohwa scampered up his arm, nuzzling his neck and licking his cheek to soothe her sulking groom.
“I’m not afraid of a stupid tigress. Heck with it, I can handle even a dozen of them at once if I have to! Let’s see her try and take my groom away!”
“Really? You’re not scared?”
“Dohwi, once you get to my age, there’s nothing left to fear in this world. If that tigress shows up, I’ll just send her packing with my fists!”
Watching her tiny paws ball up into ‘fists,’ Dohwi bit his lip, suppressing a burst of laughter.
‘The tigress would surely have a heart attack out of cuteness when she sees these cute balls of fur.’
He thought to himself with amusement.
“I couldn’t care less about that tigress. A hundred or even a thousand tigresses could come, and I’d send them all running!”
“There’s also a certain serpent that’s been itching to kill me. Shall I call him back too?”
“A s-serpent? Why do you keep making enemies everywhere you go? F-Fine, call him too! I’ll teach them all a lesson!”
Dohwi fought to stifle his laughter.
The fox’s slender legs were trembling.
“Is my little one catching a chill? Why is your body shaking so much?”
“I-I’m not... it’s just a bit cold, that’s all....”
“Then why is there sweat on your forehead?”
It was cold sweat.
Since the moment Woongsik had mentioned the white tigress’s reputation, Sohwa had been breaking out in a cold sweat.
“Ugh, I must be tired from all the digging. I think I need a nap....”
“Sohwa. Sohwa?”
The fox’s eyes blinked slowly before her eyelids drifted shut, beyond her control.

“Oh, our poor Ma’am must have a heart as small as a pebble.”
“No kidding. She nearly fainted just hearing about the tigress.”
“Why does the master play such tricks on her?”
The poor Ma’am, who had been bedridden day and night, was finally up and about.
The maids who noticed their fluffy mistress shuffling weakly out the front gate murmured to each other behind her back.
“Our master can be so mischievous. Why does he always tease that adorable Ma’am of ours like that?”
“They say she was on her deathbed, mumbling ‘Tigress... Tigress....’”
“Haha! Poor Ma’am. Here, have some white rice cakes.”
“Quiet down, all of you! She might hear.”
Since Sohwa had once been called a ‘white rice cake,’ any type of white rice cakes have been banned throughout the estate.
The servants only sneaked them when Sohwa wasn’t around, sharing the sweet treats in secret.
They were so absorbed in the fluffy steamed cakes that they forgot Woongsik’s order to alert him as soon as Sohwa woke up, whether it was day or night.

Sohwa’s paws hit the ground furiously as she dug, dirt flying everywhere.
‘That brat! That scoundrel!’
The story about the white tigress coming for her had been a complete fabrication by Dohwi.
He’d rejected the proposal, and the tigress had responded politely with a respectful answer.
“I apologize for the intrusion.”
It had been settled in a dignified manner.
And yet, because of her husband’s teasing words, she had spent three days and nights in fear....
Nothing could be more humiliating.
Sohwa vented her frustration on the dirt under her paws.
She was furiously kicking up dust beneath the persimmon tree when she heard a soft thud as something dropped nearby, followed by a sorrowful woman’s voice.
“Is that... could that be you, Baeksom?”
Sohwa froze, her paws still, the name unfamiliar.
“Baeksom?”
‘Who in the world is that?’
She tilted her head in confusion when, suddenly, someone darted toward her, swift as lightning.
It happened in the blink of an eye.
“Baeksom!” frёeωebɳovel.com
A claw-like hand snatched her up.
Startled, she curled her head down, but a hand as large as a cauldron lid pulled her in for a tight embrace.
“Oh, Baeksom, my dear little pup!”
“W-Who are you? My goodness....”
Sohwa, her face buried in the silk of the stranger’s chest, couldn’t even get a look at her captor’s face.
“How could you leave so soon, Baeksom? After we agreed to spend twenty years together, two whole cycles of the land changing, how could you rush off like that? How could you leave me so early, Baeksom?”
The woman burst into sobs.
