Chapter 48: The Rumors

Catching a glimpse of a plump, flicking brown tail, Sohwa realized his true identity and was startled.

‘A fox! He was a fox all along!’

Daebum was a red fox. He had fooled her so completely that she had genuinely believed him to be a refined tiger with peculiar tastes.

Stunned, Sohwa stood with her mouth agape. Suddenly, a large hand touched her neck. Dohwi, now close, gently turned her head toward him.

“I said I’m back.”

“Ah... I’ve been waiting for you! Anyway, Dohwi. Did you see the first snow?”

Sohwa hugged his waist tightly. Dohwi kissed her forehead, nose, and cheeks in turn.

“It was beautiful.”

“More beautiful than you?”

When his lips touched hers, Sohwa expected a light kiss, so she was taken aback when his hand gripped the back of her head.

But Dohwi lifted her chin, tilting her head to his will, and kissed her in a way he had never done before outside. He sucked on her tongue, swallowed her saliva, and explored her mouth—a kiss that signaled the beginning of a fierce, passionate encounter.

Startled, Sohwa tried to push him away, but Dohwi effortlessly lifted her. Her feet left the ground, and she clung to his neck in fear.

Pressing her against a tree, Dohwi ground his hips into her, his rock-hard erection pressing heavily against her soft lower belly.

“Mm...!”

She hit his shoulder, trying to stop him, but his rock-solid body didn’t budge. His hand slipped under her skirt, grabbing her butt.

She flinched in surprise, but his strong hand didn’t withdraw. As she wondered what had gotten into him, his fingers pulled aside her underwear.

“Mmph!”

From her clitoris to her opening, he stroked her dry, unprepared vulva, then let her down as if nothing had happened. Her feet touched the ground, and Sohwa exhaled a relieved breath.

“I’ll stop since you don’t like it.”

Sohwa looked up at him in disbelief.

“You were really going to do it here?”

“Yes, but since it seemed like you didn’t want to, I won’t.”

Seeing his eager eyes, she realized he’d only stopped because she’d shown reluctance. It made her think he was a good, obedient boy who listened to her.

Without taking his eyes off Sohwa, he nodded in the direction the red fox had disappeared.

“Did you just meet that guy?”

His question made Sohwa’s face flush. She had bragged about being a great tigress to Daebum. If Dohwi had heard all the nonsense she spat out, it would be so embarrassing!

“Did you hear everything we said?”

One corner of Dohwi’s mouth quirked up at her cautious question.

“‘We’?”

“You know, that guy mistook me for a great tigress, and I didn’t have time to correct him.”

Dohwi’s gaze followed the fox’s path. He stared at the empty bush for a long time.

“I also thought he was a tiger at first. He was so convincing, I fell for it.”

“So you got tricked by a fox.”

“Completely.”

“I was wondering what kind of conversation you two were having. You looked quite amused and excited, you know.”

Finally, Dohwi turned his eyes away from the bush and gently wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

“Shall we go home now?”

“Yes, let’s. Hearing that scary story makes me not want to stay outside.”

“I wonder what kind of story made my little fox so scared?”

Matching her slow pace, Dohwi walked with her down the mountain path, chatting softly. The snowflakes had long since vanished without a trace.

“Dohwi, don’t ever go near Mount Taeryong. I’ve heard there’s a ferocious tiger living there.”

“Really?”

“Yes! He’s so vicious that even the Grim Reaper wouldn’t dare to confront him.”

“That’s scary... What a strange creature he is.”

Encouraged by his responses, Sohwa embellished Daebum’s description of the Mount Taeryong tiger.

“He’s as big as a mountain, with paws as huge as turtle shells, and claws sharper than sickles. He’s impatient and cruel, slaughtering innocent creatures just for fun!”

“Sounds like he has quite a bad temper. I wonder why.”

Suddenly, Sohwa stopped. She looked up at Dohwi with a serious face.

“Dohwi, I know you hunt at dawn. But you mustn’t go to Mount Taeryong.”

His hunting was a taboo topic between them. But the fact that Sohwa brought it up first surprised Dohwi.

“Do you understand?”

Sohwa shook his arm, urging him to answer quickly.

“Answer me, Dohwi! Do you?”

Dohwi’s heart began to race as he saw this cute, lovely, adorable little fox getting worried about him.

Becoming aware of his desire to keep teasing such a sweet and innocent fox made him realize that, as others said, he truly was a wicked tiger.

“That’s unfortunate... I was actually thinking of moving to Mount Taeryong.”

“What? Why? Why is that, Dohwi?”

Sohwa’s eyes widened in shock. Dohwi stroked her tousled hair, speaking as if regretfully.

“There’s nothing left to eat here, Sohwa. Except for you....”

Shocked, Sohwa staggered. She knew it was his mischievous joke, so the real reason she was shocked was something else.

“Oh no, what should I do? Do I really have to go to where that terrifying beast lives?”

Yet she didn’t harshly send him off alone. Dohwi was grateful and fond of her for that. He hugged her tightly, hearing her anxious heartbeat.
