Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Slaughtering the Wolf Pack

Four wolves. After entering, they scattered, lowering their bodies, eyes fixed on Xu Yi, baring their sharp teeth.

"The head wolf is still outside, no need to rush." Xu Yi gripped the machete tightly, feeling his blood start to boil.

It seemed as if he’d been anticipating this moment all along.

The four wolves kept growling lowly, seemingly threatening Xu Yi.

"Don’t rush, wait for the head wolf," Xu Yi said again. He had already seen the head wolf.

It seemed calm and leisurely, walking toward the yard.

"It’s coming, wait for it to be locked before shooting," Xu Yi said, then slowly lowered his body.

His other hand gripping a knife.

He didn’t have time to get the bow; if he moved, the four wolves might pounce at once.

Xu Yi saw the laser targeting the head wolf, knowing Lu Ke had it locked.

Suddenly, the head wolf let out a low growl.

Moving! The four wolves sprang out, lunging at Xu Yi.

"Whoosh!"

Lu Ke’s crossbow arrow shot out, hitting the head wolf.

The head wolf let out a tragic cry, causing one of the four wolves to halt and glance back at the head wolf.

"Keep shooting."

Xu Yi shouted, swinging out the machete in his hand.

One of the wolves leapt, aiming for Xu Yi, only to have its head half-sliced away.

Xu Yi hurriedly retreated, moving back into the door.

A wolf charged straight at him, and Xu Yi thrust out his knife.

Meanwhile, Lu Ke’s second arrow also hit the head wolf.

Xu Yi pulled back his knife immediately after stabbing.

Luckily, he pulled it fast.

Otherwise, that wolf would’ve bitten his hand.

Though it wouldn’t bite his hand off completely, it would definitely injure Xu Yi.

"Ah..."

A wolf bit into Xu Yi’s thigh, making him let out a painful scream.

The machete in his hand swung directly out.

"Howl."

The wolf biting Xu Yi cried out in pain and let go.

"Xu Yi!" Lu Ke screamed in shock, "Are you okay?"

"I’m fine, there’s still one more," Xu Yi endured the intense pain, fixing his eyes on the wolf beside the head wolf.

At the door, three wolves lay down, panting heavily.

But they no longer had the chance to stand up.

The wolf Xu Yi stabbed had its artery pierced, blood pooling everywhere.

Lu Ke shot another arrow, but it didn’t hit.

The wolf was startled, abandoning its companion, dashing away.

The head wolf had fallen too, its body still heaving, a whimpering sound coming from its mouth.

"Xu Yi." Lu Ke ran to Xu Yi’s side.

"It’s fine, just took a bite, didn’t break the skin," Xu Yi smiled at Lu Ke, trying to use his smile to help Lu Ke relax.

But even so, Xu Yi was still in pain.

He had to thank his pants; otherwise, that bite would definitely have torn through his thigh.

"Let me see," Lu Ke moved Xu Yi’s hand aside, checking.

Indeed, there was no blood visible, and then she breathed a sigh of relief.

"It’s really fine, don’t worry," Xu Yi said to Lu Ke, then thought to walk out, but found the spot too painful, could only stand there pressing down.

"Mission complete, reward will be delivered immediately," a voice echoed in their minds.

This meant the head wolf was dead.

"Great, we succeeded, succeeded. Xu Yi, we succeeded," Lu Ke stomped excitedly.

If Xu Yi hadn’t been bitten, she would be grabbing his arms and jumping around.

"Yes, we succeeded. No, you should be the one who succeeded, directly killing the head wolf," Xu Yi glanced at the head wolf, seeing it completely still.

"You’re still amazing, killed three wolves," Lu Ke said, holding the short crossbow, stepping over the bodies of two wolves at the doorstep, then moving to the fence gate.

She pulled the gate up and then locked it.

"Hey, there’s a big ball flying over," Lu Ke saw a white ball flying over, then paused above the courtyard.

It then flew to Lu Ke’s front.

The ball opened, revealing a cloth package inside.

"This should be the mission reward, a first aid medical kit," Lu Ke immediately took down the white first aid kit with a red cross.

After taking the first aid kit, the big white ball delivering it flew away immediately.

"Xu Yi, have a look, see if there’s anything usable," Lu Ke said, handing the first aid kit to Xu Yi.

Xu Yi opened the kit, taking out its contents.

Two hemostatic packages, a suture needle, a spool of suture thread, a bottle of disinfectant spray, a bottle of pain relief spray, a roll of gauze, and two antibiotic injections.

"Quite a few items, all very useful," Xu Yi packed the rest away, leaving the pain relief spray out.

Xu Yi pulled down his trousers to see where the wolf had bitten.

The spots where the teeth marks were already blackened, displaying the power of that bite.

Xu Yi sprayed the pain relief spray, feeling a sudden coolness.

"Xu Yi, all the wolves are dead, do we deal with them now?" Lu Ke craned her neck to ask.

"Yes, we need to handle them all tonight, then hang them up to smoke," Xu Yi put on his pants, packing up the first aid kit, grateful for what he and Lu Ke risked their lives to win.

He then dragged his leg out of the house.

Lu Ke had already dragged the wolves to the water source, ready to start processing.

"You should rest, I can handle it," especially as Lu Ke and Xu Yi had processed goats before, she knew how to skin the wolves.

"I’m fine, the pain relief spray helped a lot. Four wolves, it’ll take all night to handle," Xu Yi drew out his knife and crouched down.

Starting with skinning, as they needed the pelts of these four wolves.

"We’re lucky there were only five wolves today, otherwise we might have lost," Lu Ke chatted as she sliced open a wolf.

"I doubt we’d lose, our house could bear the brunt. The machete and knife are sharp enough. Even with two more, we’d still have a chance," Xu Yi grinned, his initial plan was indeed using the house against these wolves.

"That’s boasting, killing these four wolves is lucky enough. Two more and you’d be finished."

"Exactly, if one hadn’t suddenly stopped attacking, you would’ve been down."

"Loli Ke was indeed impressive, directly killing the head wolf."

"Scared me to death, thought Loli Ke and the rest would be torn apart by the pack, luckily we won, with no injuries."

"Our young brother is impressive too, facing three wolves alone and killing them all."

"Xu Yi wouldn’t have managed such a herd without a machete and knife."

"That’s not necessarily true, Xu Yi had the chance to run back inside for the bow at the start."
